About this property

JDV Holidays Maison Fleurie - characterful with private pool, overlooking Nice

This delightful 2 bedroom 'country house' with private pool is set in a wonderful, quiet location and has superb views from the gardens over the surrounding hills, the city, the sea and as far reaching as Cap d’Antibes!

Close to the quaint village of Gairaut, in the heights over Nice, it's just a 15 minute drive down to the town centre and it has easy access to the A8 autoroute, making it a great base from which to explore the whole Cote d'Azur region! It’s also just a 5 minute drive to the end of the tramway which goes into the town centre.

Dating back some centuries, with great character & high ceilings, the house was totally renovated in 2008. It offers approximately 100 sq metres of living space and comprises entrance hall, large living/dining room, a dining kitchen, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a terrace either side, beautifully-landscaped gardens, a private swimming pool and secure parking for 3 or 4 cars. It’s located within the grounds of the owner’s main home (yet with privacy), who are a delightful couple discreetly on hand to ensure that you have a wonderful stay; they speak English, French, Italian and Dutch. They also invite you to use the superb Moroccan-style steam room and gym area attached to their home!

It has a maximum occupancy of 5 people (plus babies) and would be perfect for a family or group of friends holidaying together.

Past guest reviews from our website:

A fantastic place, The house, furnished in French style, leaves nothing to be desired. The Mediterranean framework is made up of olive trees that cover the entire property and provide shade. The pool was perfect for romping our kids and for us to swim and relax. We were warmly welcomed by the owners, who gave us many valuable tips for Nice and the surrounding area. We will definitely come back - Mr B. from Germany, July 19.

We thoroughly enjoyed our third stay at Maison Fleurie - just too short - we love the peace and quiet, the view, the space and the pool and the family is as delightful as ever. They also know us, so could leave the bleeper in the mailbox to unshut the front gates to the property when we arrived. It works well for both parties. If there are new clients, maybe a welcome pack would be a good idea? We do a basic shop in Forcalquier before we arrive so that we can have a light supper and breakfast on arrival. Then off the next day to either Carrefour or Leclerc for major food shop - so much easier with the car. It is really too dangerous to walk down the road to the boulangerie, etc. as there is no pavement on parts of the road. We don`t use the second bedroom and bathroom, but the main bathroom still has the strange smell - maybe because it is situated in the original part of the cottage and probably with no window unshut for some time? We prefer to use the shower room. Thank you also for organising the bottle of champagne on arrival - very much appreciated. Hope you have a good summer - Mrs P. from London, June 2018 (third visit).

Why they chose this property

Hi Paul, we had a great time at Maison owners had made the second bedroom look much more attractive and had redecorated the main bathroom. We also went out to dinner with them one evening, with some other members of their family which was great fun.......Another family member owned the restaurant. All things being equal, we will probably return next year - Mrs P. from London,

It was just as the pictures had shown (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mr L. from Washington, May 2017

The owners and their children are absolutely charming and we loved our stay at Maison Fleurie. As a couple, we very much enjoyed the accommodation, but might have been slightly disappointed if we needed to use the second bedroom which we felt lacked character and was not the same standard as the rest of the property. Also, there was a strange odour in the main bathroom, but maybe because it had not been used or aired for some time. It would also be useful if the owners provided instructions for the cooker, TV, etc. It was OK for us, as we have stayed in differing accommodation in France and "know the ropes". Also an up-to-date bus timetable and information on local food shops, etc. These are meant as positive comments to avoid problems with other future clients. No mention was made of the Supplementary services as outlined on the accommodation details. We also had initial problems with the internet connection, but the owners attended to this. We also moved the router into the living area from the hall cupboard with also improved the connection. We would like to return in the future, dependent on political and economic conditions at the time, and the price! (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mrs P. from London, June 2016.

....I can just say Exceptional (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mr C. from Zurich, August 2015

What makes this property unique

Our demands are small, but location, something web sites really can`t relay, is critical, and Maison Fleuri is perfectly located for us. Joie de Vivre put us in touch with great hosts, who took over from there. (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mr D. from Chicago (third visit), Jan 13.

Lovely. Maison Fleurie has been fully renovated in a typical rural French style. Lime washed walls, elegant and understated furniture, space and comfort. We wanted for nothing and could not be happier..............I wanted to just write and say we had the best time staying as Maison Fleurie and the owners were wonderful hosts. I`m also really happy with the painless, personal and less bureaucratic service we received from Joie de Vivre. Indeed, we loved it so much that we want to reserve the same two weeks there for next year........Dr J. from Bristol. Aug 12.

Paul, we had a wonderful stay, thanks to the beautiful house, fully equipped, nicely furnished and a wonderful view. Better than expected, more space around the house. But, above all, the owners are very friendly and we spend nice evenings with them. A great stay. But definitively not the last one there ! Thanks for everything. Beautiful house (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mr G. from Dublin, Aug 12.

Since we returned once and expect to return again, you can say we love it. Anything needing improvement, Joie de Vivre happily accommodated us (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied. P.S. we are planning to return, again in January but maybe sooner, to help harvest the olives - Mr D. from Chicago (2nd visit), June 12.

The property was lovely, clean, well appointed for a holiday rental. (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mr D. from Chicago, Feb 12.
