Relaxing, updated cabin in the woods just a short walk from boat launch and swimming area at beautiful Lake Cushman. One bedroom with Queen Bed a loft with Queen Bed and inflated Queen mattress and couch also folds out to Queen Bed. Flip a switch and you have a cozy fire in the beautiful river rock fireplace or sit out on the private deck in the woods.

You can unplug and play games or utilize the WiFi and new 50' TV. Near hiking and Golf and 3 miles from Skokomish park where you can rent paddle boards and small water toys (summer only.)

There are plenty of indoor and outdoor games for your enjoyment. You can roast marshmallows in the new fire pit or propane fire pit ( during burn ban). Or bring your boat and have plenty of parking for your trailer. .3 miles to the boat launch or quick access to the Hood Canal. Stay for a weekend or a week and enjoy!

Kitchen has everything you need for a weekend or a week. Pack a bag, bring your provisions and settle in.

Please note - we have a "Leave it the way you found it" Policy regarding cleaning. You will be cleaning the cabin for the next guest according to the Departure Checklist provided. This will save you cleaning fee.

A nice Christmas stay

My siblings and nephews and I had a nice stay in this cozy snug cabin. One sister was unable to attend because of an injury, and I was unable to call her because of sketchy cell service.

We loved this place in the forest. Very charming and gives you access to everything around lake Kushman. One of our favorite parts was the outdoor fireplace where we made s'mores for our boy for the first time. He still talks about it.

Perfect Match

This little cottage is perfect for a home base while exploring and making use of the outdoor opportunities the area provides. My 2 young kids had plenty to do with the great outdoor spaces and cozy spots inside to relax. Kitchen was well equipped for making meals.

Perfect cozy retreat!

Everyone had a great time during our stay, and our hosts were very gracious. We had parents, kids and a grandparent, and there was plenty of room for everyone and lots to do and see in the area. Michelle left lots of helpful local information in the cabin, and it was well equipped with kitchen items, linens, coffee, etc. The kids also enjoyed the board games. Hoodsport Coffee company, just down the road, is our family's new favorite ice cream spot. We can't wait to visit again!

Everything was perfect! Cottage was stocked with everything you could think of, but didn’t know that beforehand, so brought a lot of my own things. Very clean, stayed cool inside even without the AC running because of all the trees around the property. It was a quiet 4th of July, only a few fireworks heard off in the distance. Lake Cushman access is just a quick walk from the cottage, which was great! Michelle is super sweet and communicated throughout the process. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone and will absolutely be back.

Just the spot

I think our family has found our favorite Lake Cushman VRBO spot. This adorable A-Frame cabin is well located near prime lakeside swimming spots that are great for kids and parents alike, easy to find (not tucked away in the catacombs of a neighborhood), and it is comfortable and affordable. The kitchen was extremely well appointed, the beds were all amazingly comfortable, there were toys for the kids to play with, a sweet deck to lounge on, and woods behind us for total relaxation and peace. Also, Michelle is a super sweet host who clearly values communication (both online and setting up guests with info at the cabin to make it easy to navigate the place). For our family, this is just the spot!!

Perfect small family getaway

Our little family of four fit this house just perfectly. We stayed in March. The cabin heated very quickly with the gas fireplace. The new fire pit outside was just wonderful on the cold nights. Took a little skill to get it lit in the rainy pacific northwest weather. Lake Cushman is a beautiful place and the mountain views from the shores are just magnificent. The owners were very flexible with our dates, since there was room. We just moved to Washington and need to explore other areas of the state, we will most likely return to this cabin. Thank you for a wonderful little break for our family.

Sisters Trip

My sister and I chose this location which is beautiful and peaceful. With so much to do every day, the house was awesome to come home to. We brought our dry goods and stopped in Haggens market for the rest. We made dinner, played cards, drank wine on the deck. One evening we grabbed a glass of wine and walked to the lake and sat on the edge of the pier and watched the sun go down. The little town is quaint with an awesome oyster bar not too far from the house. We picked up some fresh halibut cheeks to cook at home. Yum!!! We couldn’t figure out the new big tv and would suggest a page of directions would be helpful. It was so nice to unplug for the five days we were there in a magical place.

Charming and Great Location

We wanted four basic things: 1) be near hiking in Olympic National Park; 2) close to a beautiful place where we could swim; 3) have a charming place to stay with some privacy; and, 4) be able to cook a proper a meal. %-plus stars on these things! We were minutes away from trails and serious hiking and we did magnificent hikes everyday; we were walking distance (4 minutes) to a great place to swim; an 8 minute drive to another lake, Lake Kokanee, where we found an isolated little spot in a cove. After one hike, less than 30 minutes away, we also swam and snorkeled in Lake Cushman near the Olympic NP Staircase entrance and it was magical. That actually would have been enough for us. But then the cabin was absolutely adorable and set in a large wooded lot with plenty of privacy. The property is in a community but nonetheless has privacy and cozy little nooks outside to sit around a table or fire pit (but no fires for now because it is too dry) in a woodsy setting. Finally, the cabin was so well-equipped and stocked with all we needed, particularly for cooking. Good pots and knives and every appliance you might need. I loved there were both a Keurig and French press coffee makers. And I must add, the host, Michelle, was so helpful, informative and gracious. Could not have been better!

Well located, quiet, clean, comfortable, fully stocked for a fun, easy stay!

Shady Maple Cottage is well located for hiking & for swimming in Lake Cushman. The cottage slept our family of four perfectly. We appreciated the provided house slippers! Michelle is a gracious hostess. Whether you wanted to make martinis or spaghetti everything you needed was in the kitchen( except booze & pasta :-) Michelle has a self-cleaning check-list & it was different to make time to clean before we departed but I have to say it also felt kinda good. This is the cleanest VRBO we have stayed in & I think that’s because guests strive to leave it as they found it-which is pleasantly clean. We enjoyed the deck in the evening & morning. We fished at the nearby lake access. We drove out the 119 & spent the whole day floating in the floaties Michelle provided on Lake Cushman. We fished at the local lake spot & caught 2 rainbow trout. We slept in. Watched TV (we don’t have tv at home so Jeopardy & America’s Got Talent were a treat.) Shady Maple gave us a great home base to launch a great week of family adventures! Thank you Michelle & Eric for setting up your cottage so that all we had to do was relax & enjoy all that Lake Cushman has to offer!

Wonderful stay at Shady Maple Cottage!

Shady Maple Cottage is spacious, clean and cozy with all the comforts of home plus more! Well appointed home with everything you need in the kitchen, comfortable beds and an awesome fire pit! Just a short walk and easy access to the Lake and boat launch! Hosts Michelle and Eric are easy to communicate with, very responsive and a super hosts! We had a wonderful stay at Shady Maple and look forward to visiting again!

The perfect hide away

1000 out of 10 would recommend. Perfect little cottage tucked away in a beautiful forested neighborhood. Shady maple is exactly that, shady and relaxing on any day! Amenities were more than adequate and the cottage all around very clean and organized. My only complaint is that we didn't stay longer.... Our many thanks to our gracious hosts and we hope to be back sooner rather than later.

Comfortable cottage, excellent location

We had a wonderful stay at Shady Maple Cottage! The owners were very responsive and detailed with instructions and we had no problems at all with communication. The cottage itself is extremely comfortable and we had plenty of space for my family of five to spread out. The cottage was easy to clean (just a lot of laundry!). The lake and hiking trails were all very close by, as were a grocery store, gas station, and restaurants. We would definitely recommend Shady Maple Cottage if you are looking for a convenient place to stay near the lake!

I've never rebooked a place before but I definitely will here. Michelle was a great host and the cabin had many things that are easy to forget on a trip. Super homie and you can tell they love this cabin. Also the lake is an easy walk. It's the best.

We are excited to share our vacation spot with you and your family. We found it difficult to travel with our toddler and began just renting homes for vacation to give us some space and privacy. We decided to take the leap and buy one for ourselves and would like to share with others.

Why they chose this property

It is in a beautiful location and very comfortable inside and out. It has a large deck to spread out and play games but is a short walk to the boat launch and swimming area. WiFi and Basic cable are provided to keep your whole family entertained.

What makes this property unique

Parking along side the cabin will accommodate a boat trailer and two cars.
