About this property

6 Bed 3 Bath - Great Sturgis Rally rental - min 7 nights over Rally.

The 'Extravaganza!' cabin is located in the Black Hills of South Dakota just 15 minutes from historic Deadwood and 45 minutes from Rapid City. Tucked away in the ponderosa pines, you'll enjoy seclusion and relentless outdoor excitement as this property sits on 16 acres and borders National Forrest Service land.

Inside our newly remodeled home, you will have a peaceful panoramic view through the 15 foot, A-frame style windows of Custer Peak and the Black Hills from the great room. At night, our large slate fireplace offers romantic evenings. Pets are NOT allowed, No Smoking.

On the main floor, there are three fully furnished bedrooms (1 king, 2 queens) with two full baths, a fully-equipped kitchen for all your cooking requirements, and a large Great room with an open floor plan lending an excellent party atmosphere. Downstairs, three more bedrooms (2 king, 1 room with a twin & queen bunk beds), a full bath round out the sleeping arrangements. Another complete kitchen with a bar opens into a large Entertainment room complete with top of the line Brunswick pool table, foosball table, dart board and game table.

Outdoors, an extravagant cedar deck is available for summer outdoor lunches and parties, while overlooking the 16 acres on which the Extravaganza cabin is located. A lower deck for privacy with a 6 person hot tub is another great amenity. Also a large covered patio has been added to the back of the cabin so that you are still able to enjoy the outdoors even if it is raining/snowing out!

Adjacent to the cabin, are the vast stretches of the Black Hills National Forest. Favorite activities of our visitors include: Mountain Biking, Hiking, Frisbee Golf, and Bird Watching in the summer along with cross country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter. Only minutes away is Tomahawk Golf Course, Lead Country Club, and Terry Peak Ski area. Deadwood also offers old fashion high-stake casino gambling, fine dining, and is rich in western mining and outlaw history.

Be sure to bring your swimming trunks too! In addition to our hot tub, Roubaix Lake is only 10 minutes away, and offers a small, quiet beach where you can swim and canoe. Pactola Lake, 30 minutes away, is a large mountain lake with ample room for water-skiing and great fishing. There are also numerous creeks in the area, where trout abound.

The Steel Wheel, within a couple miles of the cabin, is a gas station/general store that has all your essentials. Next to the Steel Wheel is Claim Jumpers that serves great food. About 1 mile away is Boondocks, a 50s style gas station that is a unique place to stop in and see.

You'll love this cabin, the area, and the locals!

Great private spot

Nice place that had everything we needed. Good location to get to various points of interest. Could use a better turn around spot for Trucks/Trailers.

Beautiful Place

Great house. Beautiful property. Nice and secluded. Fyi, if you have and cell service besides AT&T, there is almost no service in the area. Other than that, I would highly recommend this home!

BLACK HILLS FAMILY VACATION

This property was great for our stay! We had a group of 12-people (10-adults) and the cabin was absolutely as advertised! The view was wonderful, and our location placed us right in the middle of many nearby attractions. It was fully stocked with all of the necessary household items, utensils for cooking, towels, bed-sheets, pillows, etc... The laundry facilities were also fully stocked and in great working order. The deck provided and excellent view, and the lower level / game room was exactly as advertised, and a great space for family fun. We also very much enjoyed the hot-tub on the deck, as well as the fire pit that was located on the property. While we did have some minor issues throughout our stay (burnt out light bulbs, hot tub low on water, lack of lighting in certain areas) everything we needed to correct them was provided within the cabin. Our communication with Jon was nothing less than OUTSTANDING throughout the entire process from the booking, preparation, throughout the stay, and at checkout. A very inclusive list of area attractions / information was also provided. Without his help and flexibility, our trip simply would not have happened. At the same time, while I will HIGHLY recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a property in this area to rent, there were some inconveniences. 1. There is NO internet or phone service. This was not a big deal for some, but a major inconvenience for others, particularly when trying to search for places to go, things to see, and simply texting / communicating with others in the group. Adding Wi-fi to the location could be an added bonus. 2. While there are 2-full kitchens (upstairs / downstairs) only one oven is fully functional. The lower level unit is a very nice electric oven / range that works well. However, the upper unit is fueled by propane, and the oven (as instructed by the house rules) is not functional, and cannot be used. Two of the upper burners on this range work well, but the rest are non operational as well. Replacing this range with an operational unit would be a big plus! 3. The road into this location is horrible. It is a gravel road, going straight uphill, and marginally graded. Any 4-wheel drive would have no problem with the incline, but getting up and down was difficult, and slow, in an average car. This road could use some fill and grading. Again, I would HIGHLY recommend this property, and would rent it again if in the area! Thank You!

Deadwood Vacation

The cabin was as advertised and perfect size for our party of 15. The cabin was clean and comfortable, although the water is not as clean as what we are used to.

Mouse droppings

The cabin was beautiful and well stalked. We had a few problems. The main one was there was mouse droppings throughout one of the beds in the basement and the blankets upstairs. I called the contact person the next morning and he did not seem overly concerned or apologetic. We did find dirty towels in the bathroom, dirty dishes in the dishwasher and so much food in the refrigerator we barely had room for our own. The basement and the towels smelled musty and they could use some screens over the window wells. One night a bunny fell in and couldn't get out. It kept some people awake most of the night from hitting against the window. The oven in the kitchen was missing the knobs so we couldn't use it and they could have used more than one kitchen towel and dishrag. Needless to say we will not be staying here again.

Great place for a big family!

Great hot tub, pool table, kitchens up and down, secluded. No Wi-Fi or cell for most of yes unless you hike to top of hill - which is a good thing kinda when you're trying to connect with those you love.

Best getaway ever!!!

This was our first visit to the Black Hills, and we had the best vacation ever. The cabin was so well equipped for total enjoyment, without TV, internet.....cell service was just a few steps away. All bedrooms have dressers and closets.. Great room was open to kitchen with gorgeous forest and mountain views, where we had many get togethers , the lower level has pool table, bar and kitchen. Or you could just escape to your own bedroom for solitude. The surrounding area was always breathtaking on any of our daily tours. we rented 4 wheelers.and of course Mount Rushmore was more than we ever imagined, and should be on everyone's "bucket list". We are from Phoenix, so it was a great escape from the heat in the summer, our other roomys were from Chicago, Peoria and California. and we all loved the weather. I imagine it is also fabulous in the winter with snow on the huge pine trees and on the ground for snow mobiling. Maybe that will be our next adventure. There are several fun wild west towns nearby, with lots of history, and gambling too. We enjoyed seeing the re-inactments in the surrounding areas. Underground caves to explore, endless biking and walking paths to enjoy close by. We will be back. the "extravaganza" truly lives up to its name. Thank you. Diane and Brian

We'll Be Back!

What a great place for a larger group. The layout is conducive to having several large groups together in different locations; there is the great-room/kitchen area upstairs, the equally large game room/bar/kitchen in the basement, the large deck with lots of seating and a great view, or the hot tub, for the more intimate group. We put the kids in a basement bedrooms, one of them with bunk beds and us adult couples each had a nice bedroom on the main floor. Most people took day trips like biking the Michelson rails-to-trail, Deadwood, and other tourist attractions. My favorite day during our stay was when I just hung-out all day long. I started with coffee with my wife and another couple in the hot tub at sunrise. Afterwards, we played Frisbee-golf. Where you stomp all over the Hills throwing at predetermined targets (trees are often used), and say "par three". It is a great way to explore the area. We found a ghost-town mine and came upon three bull elk. Next time, I'm bringing my mt. bike to ride the logging roads and trails at the cabin. Yes, we all decided to rent this cabin again, so "We'll Be Back!

In my opinion Extravaganz...

In my opinion Extravaganza is the only place to stay in the Black Hills. I have stayed there on three different occasions during the winter months and every time is more amazing than before. The view of the beautiful starry skied nights and the freshly fallen snow covered hills are breathtaking.

I am the son of one of 3 owners of the property and live in Rapid City, SD. My parents are from Wagner, SD and we have 2 other owners from Casper, WY & Minneapolis, MN. The 3 guys all went to the School of Mines & Technology in Rapid City and that is where they met. In the early '90s they bought the land and built this cabin all by themselves! I have grown up coming out to visit the cabin my whole life and now live and work in Rapid City. Since I am the closest to the cabin I take care of renting the place out!

Why they chose this property

This place was built to be able to enjoy with family and friends and to have a fun vacation place to meet up!

What makes this property unique

We enjoy the total peace and quiet. We have no phone, fax, or computer at the cabin. There is a TV that pick up a couple local channels as well as a DVD player to watch movies but we personally do not use it much as there is plenty to do outdoors in the beautiful Black Hills!!
