About this property
Gorgeous villa with sea view in Praiano in the heart of the Amalfi Coast
Villa Larzia sets in one of the most beautiful panoramic areas of the Amalfi Coast in a village called Praiano. Villa Larzia is the on the ground floor of a two-story building and can accommodate up to 4 guests with privacy and independent access.
The villa has two beautiful and large private gardens which offer a wide horizon of sky, sea and coast, a private and exclusive use of the swimming pool, wi-fi and air-conditioning.
The blue Mediterranean sea is just below the property; the water can be reached by walking along a communal staircase of about 250 steps which leads to a sunbathing terrace on the cliff. The house is bright, spacious and comfortable, with high ceiling vaults and elegant and welcoming furnishings. The floors are tiled with shimmering majolica tiles. The total area of the villa is 110 metres squared indoors and 400 metres squared of the outdoor area consisting of terraces and gardens with magnificent views of the sea, of Praiano and the coast of Amalfi towards Positano and Capri.
The first terrace, about 240 metres squared, is at the entrance of the property. It is partly shaded by a pergola with a bamboo roof and is equipped with a comfortable seating area with built-in stone white benches, armchairs and sofa around a coffee table, dining table with chairs and a barbecue. The terrace is all surrounded by pots of trees and beautiful flowers. The second terrace, situated 9 steps below the main terrace, is 160 metres squared and has a private swimming pool (5 x 3 x 1.40), a sun umbrella, table, deck chairs and an outdoor shower.
Part of the garden is planted with seasonal vegetables. If in season, the produce is available to guests. From the garden, you have direct access to a spacious L-shaped sitting/dining room. The air-conditioned dining room furnishings include 2 sofas, a large flat-screen satellite television, a dining table which can accommodate up to six guests, air conditioning/heating units. The kitchen is spacious and equipped with a six-burner gas cooker, an electric oven, a refrigerator with freezer, a microwave oven, a dishwasher, an Italian-style coffee-maker and other small appliances. There is a table to seat four guests. From the kitchen, a French door will take you to the terrace.
From one side of the living room, a small corridor leads to two bedrooms, each with a double bed (160x180) and direct access onto the garden through French doors. The two air-conditioned bedrooms have their own bathroom next door. The first bathroom is equipped with a washbasin, a toilet, a shower, a washing machine. The second and larger bathroom is equipped with a washbasin, a toilet and a large Jacuzzi bathtub.
Villa Larzia is situated below the main street of Praiano, the road that links all of the Amalfi Coast villages. It is accessed by walking 400 metres along a pedestrian road and down 160 steps. The sea is right below the property and can be accessed via a pathway with 250 steps. A little supermarket, a short distance from the villa, is well stocked and provides nearly everything one would need. Coffee bars with an Internet Point, tourist information centre, restaurants, post office and shopping streets are approximately 400 metres from the villa. The local mini-shuttle bus which runs from Praiano to Positano and the SITA bus that connect all the villages along the Amalfi Coast stops at the top of the flight of steps which lead down to the villa.
Praiano is a small fishing village made up of houses scattered along the ridge of Monte S. Angelo which ends in the intense blue sea at Capo Sottile. In an inlet is Marina di Praia, a small and charming beach surrounded by the houses and boats of the fishermen and by small, unpretentious restaurants that attract you with their simplicity. It is considered Positano’s little sister with a similar beach and church, but not anything like so inundated with a flood of travellers. If you climb up or down the main coastal road, you will find a natural village with incredible views, undisturbed by the rumble of coaches and cars. Lemon groves and vineyard terraces follow the irregularity of the terrain that slopes gently down to the little coves where the ancient Saracen towers stand guarding against these days improbable enemies. The favourable climate, the pure air, the beautiful blue sea, the friendliness of the people and improving tourist facilities are just a few of the reasons that make Praiano an increasingly desirable place to spend one’s holiday.
The pebble beach at La Praia, at the feet of two tall rocky walls, is home to several restaurants offering excellent local cuisine, boat hire service and a scuba diving school. To reach the beach of La Praia take the local minibus which runs regularly within and around Praiano. If you do not have a problem with climbing steps, another place to go is the beach called “Gavitella”, a charming small beach, located at the bottom of a small and verdant rocky inlet. The beach houses a restaurant with beach facilities which is open during the summer season. The beach of La Gavitella can be reached either on foot, walking along a path that includes about 350 steps, or by sea. Indeed, during high season a ferry service with small boats operates to this beach both from the beach of the Praia and from the beach of Positano. The service is complimentary for customers of the facilities or of the restaurant at the Gavitella. At both Amalfi and Positano there are ferries, hydrofoils and mini-cruises to visit other villages along the coast as well as to the Islands of Capri and Ischia, Sorrento and Naples. It is also possible to rent boats to explore the surrounding coastline and visit the many small grottoes along the coast. To stay at Villa Larzia a car is not necessary. The stop for the buses that go to Positano, Sorrento, Amalfi or to the other coastal towns, can be found 400 metres away from the house (includes the 160 steps).
