Trade wind is right in the harbour with shops and restaurants also on the doorstep. It was a perfect place to unwind. It is a quaint fishing cottage with a nautical theme and lots of original features. There’s a lovely cosy atmosphere. The views from the main bedroom are amazing. We felt right at home here and would love to return.

Excellent location, fantastic cottage and wonderful welcome!
We have stayed at many VRBOs over the years and this is definitely one of our top ones. The cottage has a great location for accessing everything Brixham has to offer. The cottage is tastefully and beautifully decorated and has everything you need for a relaxed holiday. Add to this the warm welcome we received from the hosts with homemade scones, jam and cream and you have the makings of a perfect holiday.

Many thanks Hilary for the fantastic review. We are really pleased that you enjoyed staying at Trade Winds cottage.
We had a wonderful stay. It's a beautifully presented cottage. The best we've ever rented in Brixham The kitchen is well equipped for 4 & more. The twin & double rooms have very comfortable pillows and mattresses. The free internet is good. Staircases from the kitchen upto the 3 other floors are fairly steeper but typical of these cottages. However the bannisters and handrails make the process easier. Many thanks to Jo & Lee for a wonderful stay.
Had a lovely week in Brixham in this beautiful and very quirky cottage, loved how it was set out. Thank you for the lovely cream tea on arrival, was most welcome. Although Brixham was extremely busy we had a good time and the views were breath taking.

While the steps inside and out might be a challenge, the cottage was worth it in my opinion. Charming and well-equipped, Trade Winds is right in the heart of the port and close to buses, shops, and restaurants. It was a pleasure to stay here.

We are really happy that you loved our cottage and it’s location. We are so sorry that there was a noise from the boiler that we were unaware of. If you stay in any accommodation/holiday let please do let the owners know ASAP so the issue can be remedied and your holiday not disturbed.
The issue with the plumbing has now been sorted.
The property was set near to the harbour and close to road and car parks (also Rock Fish).
Very enjoyable stay, and Brixham is a nicely chilled resort.
Weather a bit changeable and more like late Spring than early Summer.
Only downside was the conflicting stories of whether the tap water in the area had been flushed out of its germ which was giving people in the locality s & d, and whether the harbour area was 'clear'. Assurances that it was by hosts and some of the restaurants, but then an area near the harbour was still giving out bottled water to the public and officials of SW water were waffling.
But that and 1 day of heavy rain were the only drawbacks. Certainly want to come back another time, could be a regular thing.

Thank you Brian for your kind review. Regarding the water the area of Brixham down by the harbour was never affected by the bug, it was just put on notice to boil as a precaution. South West water are giving out water in the area as some areas of Brixham are still on notice to boil.

Loved our week at Trade Winds. The cottage was immaculately clean and had everything you could possibly need. Superb views from the top floor bedroom window of Brixham harbour, even binoculars are provided. Good directions from the owners on how to get to the cottage and good advice to pre-book 8 day Torbay council parking permit which we were able to use in Brixham/Paignton/Torquay. We hope to stay again in the future. Thank you Tradewinds.

Trade Winds is a lovely 4 storey house. The stairs are narrow and steep but there are hand rails on both sides that make the climb safe and easy. Very nicely decorated. Beds are very comfortable and lovely bed linen, duvets and pillows. Views from the bedroom windows are great. Location is perfect - 2 mins walk to the harbour, shops, restaurants and bars. Seagulls are a bit noisy but that is what you get by the sea and harbour! Welcome pack of scones, jam, cream and milk is thoughtful, thank you. We had a wonderful stay in Brixham and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property.

About the host
Hosted by Jo and Lee Oldfield
I am originally from Bristol and moved to Brixham to teach at the local secondary school. My husband Lee is a stained glass artist and has renovated our present house, a 300 year old cottage in Brixham.
We saw Trade winds cottage and instantly fell in love with its character and quirks so decided to share this passion with others. We love hosting and always strive to ensure all our guests have a lovely stay in Brixham in a comfortable characterful cottage that is only a stones throw away from the harbour.
Why they chose this property
My family are originally from Torbay and so I spent much of my childhood visiting the area, visiting local beaches, swimming in the sea, walking along the coastal paths and on the moors as well as watching the wildlife. I always knew that I would eventually return to Torbay and was fortunate enough to be able to do so.
What makes this property unique
Trade winds is a unique, quirky and characterful fisherman’s cottage only 2 minutes walk to the harbour in Brixham.
The cottage is cosy and very comfortable with a well equipped kitchen.
The views of the harbour and sea from the top bedrooms are stunning and there are window seats where you can pass to time of day watching the boats or simply read a book.
Free parking is available 5 minutes walk from the cottage. Parking is also available at Oxen cove car park and permits can be purchased on arrival. ( 4 day pass £29 or 8 day pass £52)
