The cottage was warm and welcoming on arrival with lovely christmas decorations and a basket of goodies. The log burner was perfect for cold evenings. It was ideally positioned for sightseeing. The local pub across the road is ideal for an evening meal or just drinks. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.
Fantastic cottage in a great location. The cottage has everything that you could need. Very peaceful location and host was fantastic, couldn't have wished for a better few days away and will definitely be returning.
Lovely cottage, beautifully setup, clean and tidy. Hosts were welcoming and very helpful with advice on places to eat and help lighting the log burner.

A beautiful, clean cottage in the heart of an ancient village in Devon. One church, one pub, one store…if that’s what you’re looking for, this is the place for you!
Great stay (to end our summer holidays). This property is excellent- clean, comfortable, well equipped and in a great location. Hosts were really welcoming and friendly Great spot to explore this beautiful part of Devon. Highly recommend
The cottage was all & more than we expected with attention to detail & everything provided to make it a home from home situated in a charming village. Property owner was very welcoming & provided lots of information on areas to visit in the locality. The local shop is incredibly well stocked & the local pub, The Church House Inn only yards along the road from the cottage was warm & welcoming serving excellent food from a wide menu meaning there was no need to travel out of an evening for a meal.
The property was in a beautiful area with plenty of walks and lovely scenery. There was a small local shop in the village and a great pub just across the road which served fantastic food. This was just what we needed after a long journey. The cottage was very clean and well kept. The host Maddy was extremely helpful and left a lovely gift for when we arrived.
Beautiful cottage. Well equipped and exceptionally clean. A gorgeous, tranquil garden. The village was picturesque, a very handy community shop that stocked all essentials, lovely village pub and great walks. Maddy and Geoffrey were perfect hosts and the bottle of wine upon arrival was a lovely gesture. I could not fault this property and would highly recommend. Hope to revisit some day soon.
Fabulous accommodation with lovely garden to sit & have breakfast or drinks.Madeline & Godfrey were great hosts & gave us numerous places to go to for days out. Pub on the doorstep food was reasonable & very filling. Handy to get around to all areas. We will be back next year. Big thanks to you both
Such a charming cottage, very comfortable and home from home. Our hosts were very informative on the local area with good walks places to eat.
Highly recommended
We loved our week in the cottage.Great all round - Maddy & Godfey very friendly & helpful. Comfortable after a long day sightseeing. Village is quaint in a beautiful area of Devon. Thank you.
Excellent cottage, clean, tidy and perfectly equipped.
Very warm welcome, lovely touch with a welcome bottle of wine, host was attentive but not intrusive, the cottage was lovely and some nice areas to explore
Acorn cottage was lovely everything we had hoped for.Madeline and Godfrey were really friendly and helpful. The village of Stokeinteinhead is lovely with a brilliant pub and village shop, We would definitely recommend this lovely place
A really excellent stay in a super cottage. Simply all the previous reviews are spot-on. As soon as you open the door and step in, you feel at home. Downstairs is a good kitchen with breakfast table and a large comfortable bedroom with en-suite shower and toilet. Lovely to get a bottle and snacks on arrival a nice touch. The large living area is upstairs with a dining table and amazingly comfortable chair and sofa. Wi-fi worked well and and good size TV although couldn’t always get signal for regular channels but streaming was fine. Beware the sloping ceiling that my head met a few times! Radiators kept the house really warm too. Lovely village as well Church House pub less than 100 yards away with excellent food, beer, atmosphere and service. Sad we only went for one meal. Opposite is a friendly community shop open 7 days a week, nearest supermarkets in Teignmouth or Newton Abbot. Finally, great to meet lovely hosts Maddy and Godfrey and appreciated their suggestions for trips. Many thanks. Couldn’t fault anything, highly recommend and hope to visit again.
This cottage is really lovely. Great location, nice host and has everything needed for a holiday. The pub in the village is a minutes walk and serves nice food - what more coul you want. We stayed in November but I would like to visit in spring or summer as the garden looks a great place to sit and have a glass of wine.

About the host

We're both born in Devon and have lived in the area all our lives. We built the house we now live in which is situated just above the cottage. We decided to convert the old barn into separate self contained accommodation. Making an ideal location for a couple seeking the peace and tranquillity in this beautiful part of Devon. We live here permanently and run our own small farm. We have a good local knowledge of the area. So if required, we are happy to give advice on restaurants, beaches and various other activities. "Most of them have been tried & tested by ourselves" Please don't hesitate to ask!
Why they chose this property
We love living here because we're surrounded by countryside with stunning views We are within easy reach of beautiful beaches, a great range of facilities with a selection of good restaurants within a short distance. There really is something for everyone!
