About this property

Great for families and friends - 10 people - pet friendly, lots of outdoor space

This typically Normand style timber framed house - the presence of bricks and stone and the timber frame is characteristic of regional houses in Normandy - is only a short walk away from the old town centre of Honfleur and the Harbour. Honfleur is one of the most visited place in France after Paris and Versailles !
The house dates back to the 17th and 18th Centuries. It was part of Lucie Delarue Mardrus’ property called Le Pavillon de la Reine. Honfleur was Lucie Delarue Mardrus’ hometown. She was a writer and poet and married Doctor Mardrus who was one of the major translators of 1001 Nights into French.
The house has been restored in 2012 by local craftsmen and most of its original features have been kept., including the narrow spiral staircases and the low beams! Please mind your heads. Please note that the house may not be suitable for person with mobility issues.
The house is laid out on 3 levels:
On the ground floor, you will share:
1) a well equipped kitchen, 2) a small living-room with its wood burning stove, 3) a large living-room with a sitting area and its open fireplace, and a dining area (table seats 12), 4) a large bathroom with an Italian style shower and a toilet, 5) a utility room with a washer-dryer and a sink.
You have 2 staircases leading to the 2 sides of the house on the upper floors.
On one side:
On the first floor, a large master's bedroom with its ensuite bathroom. Queen size bed. The room is big enough to add a cot if needed or/and an extra bed for a small child. The bathroom has its own tolet and a bath in which you also have a standing shower.
On the second floor, a children's bedroom with its own toilet and sink so as not to disturb mummy and daddy at night ;-) The 2 single beds can also be arranged as a King size double beds in case you want adults to use this room.
On the other side:
On the first floor, a large master's bedroom, with an old fashion cot, a TV/library room with comfortable seats and a sofa so that teenagers or children can stay away from adults ;-), a large bathroom with a big shower and a sink and a separate toilet.
On the second floor, 2 bedrooms, each with either 2 single beds or 1 double bed - Queen size and King size.
Please note that there's another house on the property, La Bergerie, and that the two houses share the entrance gate. The gate is located close to La Ferme, but the two houses are well apart from each other and have each their outdoor area.

Fabulous Family Gathering
Our extended Family had a wonderful stay at La Ferme. The accommodations were delightful and characteristic of the region and the location was perfect for exploring the best of Normandie.

Honfleur Perfection
This home was perfect in every way. It has all the Honfleur charm we were looking for, it is a short walk into town, it has parking on site (very important if you come by car), and Isabelle is lovely and welcoming. We could not have asked for more.

Beautiful Le Ferme
We have stayed in lovely Honfleur many times this time there were 10 of us and Isabelle’s property accommodated us perfectly although not really suitable for elderly people or very young children (toddler’s). As with all properties in this area the staircases can be a bit of a challenge. Just a couple of things to mention the kitchen knives were all very blunt & the outside lights didn’t stay on long enough when we were sat outside in the evening maybe the timer could be reset for a longer period but all in all we had a lovely stay & would highly recommend Le Ferme Isabelle couldn’t of been more helpful also The Lieutenant Restaurant is as superb as its always been still gets 10/10.

I have lived abroad for several years, I'm fluent in English and German, I love travelling and discover countries off the beaten track. I have lived in Paris, which I love, for a long time but I have brought up my 2 daughters in Honfleur with my English husband. After he died, I decided to come back and live in Honfleur and manage my 2 rental cottages full time. I'm very fond of the place which bears a lot of memories for me but which is also rich in history. La Ferme and la Bergerie were indeed part of a property which once belonged to a local poetess, Lucie Delarue-Mardrus, married to a famous orientalist, Dr Mardrus, a renowned translater of the 1001 Nights stories in the 1930's.
I now live in her house which she named The Pavillon de la Reine because it had been built for Queen Marie-Antoinette! I love Honfleur and Normandy for its rich historical and cultural patrimony, its fine sand beaches and its countryside, only 2 hours away from Paris!
I like sharing my favourite places and my good tips with you and I remain available during your stay to help you discover Honfleur and its surroundings off the beaten track!

Why they chose this property

My husband and I have acquired the property because we wanted access to the town by foot. We were charmed by the history of the place. La Ferme used to be a proper farm, and in the old days, there used to be a vine in the greenhouse - recently restored - and a vegetable garden, still here. The house was practically a ruin and we decided to save it from total destruction. We transformed it into a comfortable gite in 2012.

What makes this property unique

Country side property within minutes of the centre of Honfleur
Set in the 5 acre grounds of the historic Pavillon de la Reine, the property nestles in the beautiful Normandy countryside within ten minutes brisk walk of the Honfleur town centre along a quiet road. It originally dates from the 17th/18th centuries. La Ferme is a large yet comfortable timber framed house that sleeps 10.
It is self contained with all you need for self catering as well as TV and free WiFi. There is ample private parking in quiet, private grounds. The proximity to the old port in Honfleur gives easy access to shops, restaurants and galleries as well as the Saturday morning market. The property is provided with garden furniture and barbecues.
Honfleur is a chaming little town and can be visited any time of the year. For more information on what to do in Honfleur and around, visit the site of the Honfleur Tourist Office
