About this property
River-View Bungalow with Parking, above Historic Dartmouth
15 Churchfields has more than just great home charm, each picture window delivers a breathtaking view of the sublime Dart Valley and rolling hills. Set atop historic Dartmouth, the kitchen-diner opens up to an even broader vista - while away the balmy summer days on your private balcony to watch the water glinting in the sunlight, and the boats gently sway in their moorings. With ample off-road parking and close transport links, it's a perfect base to head off exploring the divine South Hams.
Summary:
Relaxation and adventure are equally synonymous with 15 Churchfields; breakfast on the glass-fronted balcony looking over the river preludes a day of exploring, with a down-hill stroll into town next on the to-do list! Exploring the rich history of Dartmouth is a must, with a fascinating naval history which includes the meeting of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, to name one of many events. After diving into the past, why not stop off at one of the fine local restaurants, delis or cafés for a hot drink and a bite to eat. Prefer the great outdoors? No problem - a selection of dishes can be ordered to take away, including the award-winning fish and chips from Rockfish, where fresh local fish are caught and served daily. And top it all off with a delicious local ice cream from Dartmouth Ice Cream or Salcombe Dairy - a delicious local treat that's sure to put a smile on anyone's face.
Families with adventurous young explorers are sure to love nearby Woodlands, just five miles out from Dartmouth, where all-weather fun is guaranteed. With a mixture of rides, indoor and outdoor play areas, and even a toboggan run, you're sure of a good day out. Or why not step away from the shore and take up one of the many boat rides which can be caught from the waterfront, with sights to see including historical Greenway Holt, the holiday home of Agatha Christie, and a selection of nautical wildlife too, from seals to sea birds.
And don't worry about the walk back up hill to the property - transport in Dartmouth is affordable and regular, with bus services frequently running from the bandstand and stopping just 200m from the property.
Accommodation:
The front door opens to the hallway, to the left the master bedroom is furnished with a super king bed, for guests who prefer twin beds the bed can be split into two standard singles (Please let us know how you would like these making up when booking). The second bedroom off to the right has twin 3ft beds.
Living Room:
At the end of the hallway is the living room, kitchen diner and family bathroom. The living room has two comfy sofas, a TV and DVD player. This is a lovely light room with dual aspect windows affording stunning views over the town and river as well as the surrounding countryside.
Kitchen Diner:
The kitchen diner is well equipped with an oven and hob, fridge, microwave and a dining table comfortably seating four. Large bi-folding doors open onto the balcony letting in plenty of light and making the most of the view. The balcony is perfect for alfresco dining after a day at the beach. Off the kitchen is a small utility room with a washing machine. The freezer is in a separate room under the house.
Bathroom:
The bathroom has a walk-in shower, toilet and basin.
Outside Space:
As well as the balcony off the kitchen, the driveway takes you down the side of the property to the garden at the rear which is the perfect private spot perfect for a barbecue.
Parking:
The driveway is long and narrow on a slope, if you would prefer to park on the road Churchfields is a very quiet street with plenty of space to park.
Nearby:
Being at the top of town there isn't too much nearby. There is a convenience shop on Townstal Crescent back across the main road. Down in the town there is a great selection of pubs restaurants and cafes including Mitch Tonks' Seahorse and Rockfish. If you want to leave the car behind it is a pleasant walk down into the centre of town or there is a regular bus service which stops close by and runs until late in the evening.
Availability:
Short breaks are available on request, with a minimum of three nights. During peak seasons we do try to keep to a regular changeover day; however if you have a special request, especially at short notice, please do let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate this for you.
