We had a great October half-term week here- the autumn colours were fantastic, and we paid for our annual National Trust Subscription in one week as there are so many great NT places to visit within 45 minutes drive of the Barn. We also got Glyndbourne tickets for La Traviata (40 minutes drive away, and a great introduction to opera for teenagers too) - NB in the Autumn the operas start at 4pm and generally finish by 7pm. Also check out the AA/Ordinance Survey book "50 walks in Sussex" and pack wellies ready for the muddy paths in the autumn, as there are dozens of good walks nearby with great views. The Barn is quiet - set back from the road, comfortable, warm, with plenty of hot water in the shower and with great big fluffy towels. Despite the autumn weather, we didn't need the log fire. The internet was good (suitable for teleconferences) and there are two sofas and another easy chair for an evening's reading (the local Nat Trust places all have good secondhand book shops so all of us came away with enough new reading to keep us busy to Christmas!)The view from the barn out over the fields and valley is beautiful; do get up early in the autumn to see the low laying mist and meet the three friendly pheasants that gather on the lawn each morning. Overall it is a landscape photographer's / artist's heaven here. The beds, pillows and linen are great - we slept well. The main room has a king size bed - and the second room is very comfortable for one person - or two friendly children (friendly, because if you have the 2 single beds in the room there isn't much room to walk between the beds). In the village there are several pubs, two basic food shops (one in the petrol station and so open late) and a butcher's open each day to 1pm. We stopped at Uckfield on the way and did a big Tesco shop (there is a Waitrose there too).If you are a foodie - note that you get a good full-sized oven and 4 ring gas stove with lots of pots, pans, and cooking implements as well as a microwave and toaster and kettle and lots of work surfaces and a small but effective dishwasher. With all the farm shops and vinyards nearby there is plenty to try out; the local apple stuffed pork sausages are a hit!Our hosts were wonderful - with a cake ready for our arrival and the central heating switched on and a basket full of guides to near everything you could hope to see in Sussex! Very many thanks!Pets - yes you can bring one, but we didn't. However I'm pleased to say that the cleaning was fantastic here as there wasn't a sight of even a single strand of fur anywhere. There is a big screen TV - but we had so much to do this week that it was pretty much unused. Now that's the sign of a great family holiday!Overall - the Barn is exactly what we wanted for a week away and we would all be happy to head back for another week there! If you don't have children in tow - then also book it for a romantic countryside getaway!

We had a lovely stay at Mount House Barn.

We had a lovely stay at Mount House Barn. The cottage was warm and cozy with wood provided if you wanted to light the log burner. Comfortable beds with gorgeous smelling linen and fluffy towels. Lovely village with good pubs, a cafe and shop with everything. Our son went twice to GoApe as he loved it so much. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

An exceptionally lovely place to stay.

An exceptionally lovely place to stay. Lots of character and well equipped for a holiday stay. Easy car parking is a great bonus. Very central with access to local shops just a short walk away. Greatly appreciated that it is dog friendly. The welcoming touches of milk, fruit juice and a bottle of wine complimented by fresh flowers and a bowl of fruit add that 'something' extra, and then to find a home-made cream cake tucked away in the fridge really makes on feel 'at home'. Excellent pub tucked away just across the road is welcoming with a varied menu. Open countryside views, a little garden and good wi-fi top it all off. I've stayed three times already. Lovely owners by the way.

One of the best holidays we've ever had.

One of the best holidays we've ever had. A wonderful, comfortable and friendly place to stay. The owners are so accomodating and we would be very happy to stay there permanently with them as our neighbours - not just because Lynda is a wonderful cook - thank you for the yummy cream cakes! The barn was warm, comfortable and well equipped (there is a good shower over the other end of the bath, not just the handset at the tap end) and the views from the kitchen stretch for miles. The garden is beautiful and it is lovely to sit/eat out there or to just have the top half of the stable door open to let the sun in whilst having breakfast. There are plenty of National Trust houses locally to visit and we travelled to Bodiam Castle along the river Rother by boat from Northiam. There were still things we wanted to do and see even after a two week stay so we will definately come back again.

A fantastic accommodation! It had everything we needed, was really spacious.

A fantastic accommodation! It had everything we needed, was really spacious. Kitchen was well equipped and the welcome gifts were a great treat. We had a two year old with us and the accommodation was perfect, a few stairs from one level to the other but not an issue and there was a stair gate provided incase. The cottage also had a lovely back garden which we used several times. The advert doesn’t make enough of the great location. A walk to a local shop, a great butchers and a pub serving food and local ale. Further afield there are lots of things to do, from camber sands to several great national trust places. All in all a great location, great building and friendly and helpful owners in the main house across the drive. Would be sure to visit again.

It was such a pleasure to stay the first time that I re-booked a second time and hope to make a third booking yet again later in the year. The barn is in such a great central location, close to necessary shopping, easy parking and caters for guests with a dog. The accommodation is lovely, with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. From the log burner to lashings of hot water, a lovely welcome of apple juice, cream cake, fresh fruit and a bottle of wine, there was nothing missing. A warm welcome from the owners just added to the pleasure of staying at the barn. I sincerely look forward to returning in the autumn.

I had an excellent stay.

I had an excellent stay. Mount House Barn is comfortable and well equipped with helpful owners to greet on arrival. Location is great, right in the centre for everything I needed. Easy car parking was a bonus and within a few minutes there are plenty of walks. So helpful to accommodate a dog. The barn was warm, there was a constant supply of hot water and everything worked. For me it is an ideal 'get-away' and would recommend it to anybody. Would love to return and when I'm back in the area Mount House Barn will be my first choice.
