Squirrel’s Nest is a superb second floor apartment at Badgers Rake, perched in an enviable position above the village of Ambleside with magnificent views over Loughrigg and the Fairfield Horseshoe. Ideal either for a peaceful and relaxing break or as a fantastic starting point for stunning walks.

The living room has a sunny aspect with large picture window giving stunning views over the village to distant fells. There is a long mirror above the fire, occasional tables and lamp, independent overhead lights and concealed lighting. The kitchen offers everything you require should you want to cook, and you will find patio doors leading to a glass fronted balcony with seating. A large dining table and matching oak cabinets complement the dining area. Both bedrooms enjoy views of Wansfell, and bedroom is furnished with Italian furniture.

This apartment is in perfect location This apartment is in perfect location. Watching the sunset over the mountains, birds flying around the garden and watching the bats come out in the eves. A short walk to town. Waterfall nearby. The apartment it self was well equipped with everything you need. Plenty of space for 4 people. Drinking coffee on the balcony watching the sunshine on the mountains. Could do with a lick of paint above the balcony, but it hasn’t put me off, i’ve booked to stay there again next year Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Badgers Rake is a great apartment for exploring the wonderful Lake District landscape and mountains
Badgers Rake is a great apartment for exploring the wonderful Lake District landscape and mountains in the Ambleside area. You can walk out the door and up amazing mountains and are on the foothills of the Fairfield Horseshoe - a classic Lake District mountain walk. A real highlight of the apartment is the views from both the large sitting room window and the balcony off the dining area as the apartment is on the 2nd floor of the building - absolutely stunning views of the Horseshoe mountain range! It's a bit of a steep 10 minute climb walk out of Ambleside centre to the apartment - not for the weak or frail. But what do you expect when you're in the Lake District! You're going to be walking up some steep hills. Lots of amenities and places to eat & drink in Ambleside. Good facilities in the apartment too. Also lovely and quiet as you're out of the town centre. Thoroughly recommended - I will be revisiting this apartment- but out of season! Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Fantastic views from the lounge and kitchen/dining area windows.
Fantastic views from the lounge and kitchen/dining area windows. Well equipped and warm. The downside is that it is two storeys up and no lift.

Excellent views over Ambleside from the large windows and the balcony.
Excellent views over Ambleside from the large windows and the balcony. Up a steep hill so unsuitable for anyone unfit or young children. Very comfortable double bed (didn't try the two single beds). Well equipped kitchen. Lounge furniture dated and a little worn. Bathroom spacious but could do with updating. Bath with shower over. Heating is difficult to control (warm air, storage heaters).
