A great base almost on the loch shore, where a family can enjoy walking, fishing, canoeing or simply relaxing and taking in the view.. All on the Ground Floor:

Bathroom: Bath, Cubicle Shower, Toilet. Electric central heating, gas, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Initial fuel for wood burner provided, remainder available at £5 per basket. Travel cot and highchair available.. Garden with sitting-out area and garden furniture. Private parking for 3 cars. No smoking. Please note: The sea loch is 25 yards from the property.. This tastefully restored, detached cottage is situated only yards from Loch Long and boasts stunning views over the open water. Situated within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, The Heron, formerly the village tea rooms, is located in the hamlet of Ardentinny, near Dunoon. It is sited next to the Argyll Forest which offers numerous forest tracks, marked walks and cycleways, all easily accessible from your doorstep. The cottage is only 25 yards to the shore where you can walk, fish, launch a canoe or just rest on the rocks, relax and enjoy the view. A large variety of wildlife can be spotted from the cottage including bottlenose dolphins, eider ducks, harbour seals and red squirrels. Nearby, the magnificent woodland gardens at Benmore Botanic Gardens are well worth a visit. The town of Dunoon is within easy reach and has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. Take a steamer cruise and explore the hills and lochs of the Cowal Peninsula. Shop, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

    Another lovely Christmas spent at the Heron. The cottage could do with a bit of a revamp, but despite this, a very comfy well equipped cottage. Very peaceful location with lovely view over Loch Long. Would definitely recommend. Thank you for the generous Christmas hamper.

    Absolutely loved our week away at the Heron and hope to return again at some point in the not too distant future. A good friend of mine recommended it and reading the reviews, you can see why people return again. It is a comfortable, spotless and well equipped home from home and the scenery from the cottage is incredible. We all felt totally relaxed and could easily have stayed a further week. On the back of our stay, another good friend has booked the cottage as well. Thoroughly recommend this lovely cottage in such beautiful surroundings.     The Heron is a great cottage views and location, the nearest shop was a garage near Dunoon a few miles away but they had all we needed. Looking out over the Loch in the morning with a brew couldnt beat it.We went for weeks sea fishing but the fishing was poor, price for a week was a little steep but the views in the surrounding area are priceless.

    The location of The Heron couldn't be any better as it's right on the Loch. Shame about the weather but that can't be helped. Our holiday was relaxing. The view from the windows are spectacular. The binoculars and telescope are much appreciated. The dogs loved being in the water every day! The garden is safe for them. All surrounding areas are very dog friendly and we found all the people we met very friendly. Would love to stay there again. 😊🐾👍

    Our 2nd visit to this wonderful cottage . It is clean comfortable and privilege to stay there. the Loch is great to sit and watch . We saw dolphins seals and otters the variety of birds is second to none . the local Pub The Ardentinny is in a great location over looking the loch the food is fantastic and good value . The best thing about this cottage you can do as much or as little you like . We have all ready booked again for next year

    4th visit to the Heron and we really do love the cottage and the area.

    4th visit to the Heron and we really do love the cottage and the area. Over the years improvements have been made new electric heaters, soft furnishings etc but this time I have to be honest the internal paintwork throughout was looking very tired otherwise it’s fantastic.
