Tranquil yet convenient, set in the desirable village of Uplyme, Coombehayes Barn is conveniently located and yet tucked away down a private drive. With a large secluded garden (south-facing with beautiful rural views in the daytime and twinkling lights at night), you are just a stroll away from the village green (with playground and tennis court) and village pub with beer garden and friendly post office/village shop. River Cottage, headquarters of celebrity chef, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, is just a few minutes up the road. The East Devon Way, at the end of the drive, and the South West Coast Path, just a few minutes’ by car, make this an ideal base from which to explore the beaches and spectacular footpaths along the World Heritage coastline. Coombehayes offers a plethora of scenic walks from the doorstep (45mins along the River Lym to the seafront in Lyme Regis, 10 minutes to the viaduct or Prescott Pinetum, 20 minutes to Trinity Woods Nature Reserve, perfect for picnics and den-making!).
Lyme Regis is rich in history, famous for its ancient harbour wall, The Cobb, featured in both Jane Austen’s Persuasion and John Fowle’s novel and film, The French Lieutenant’s Woman. The town offers a sandy beach for relaxing and building castles or Back Beach for exploring rock pools and fossil-hunting. Swim in the sea, dive off the North Wall, hire a kayak or paddleboard, cruise on a rib ride, try deep sea fishing, enjoy a show at Marine Theatre, crazy golf in Langmoor Gardens. Visit the Dinosaur Museum, working watermill or aquarium, or simply stroll through the winding streets of the old quarter, with its numerous shops, restaurants and cafés. Further afield, and yet all within a 15 minute drive – horse-riding, shooting at The Tunnel, tram rides, birdwatching at Seaton Wetlands, Beer caves and Pecorama miniature railway. Shops and pubs ½ mile.
Loud music is not permitted after 11pm at night as a courtesy to the neighbours.
