Charming cottages situated in a scenic holiday location, which form an ideal base from which to explore the stunning scenery of the North Yorkshire Coast..."
The six cottages at Killerby Old Hall are ideal for a countryside holiday whilst being less than 2 miles from the beach of Cayton Bay. The owners live on-site and guests can enjoy the countryside or relax in the indoor heated swimming pool. The accommodation ranges from the Dovecote sleeping 14 in period splendour, through to cosy Chestnut Cottage which sleeps 6. Set in a pretty courtyard, each cottage is different yet has its own sitting-out area with patio furniture and four of the cottages have private hot tubs.
Killerby Old Hall is situated between the coastal resorts of family friendly Filey, with its cobble landing and pretty promenade, and Scarborough, with its vibrant South Bay and naturally picturesque North Bay, located on part of Britain’s heritage coast. The Stephen Joseph Theatre, famed throughout the county, puts on a number of Alan Ayckbourn productions. To the north, across the stunning North Yorkshire Moors, lies the port of Whitby; famous for its connections to Captain James Cook and Dracula. Robin Hood’s Bay, a former fishing village with a smugglers past, has quaint streets which lead visitors to a small, sandy cove and rock pools. Heading inland, find the historic market town of Pickering, where the famous North Yorkshire Moors steam train begins its journey. Access Dalby Forest through the attractive village of Thornton-le-Dale and be sure to stop for an ice cream. The forest offers a range of activities including mountain bike tracks, or for those feeling adventurous there is Go Ape. It is also a popular picnic destination which is surrounded by walks that the whole family can enjoy. Travel a little further afield to Castle Howard with its stunning house and grounds. The ancient, Roman walled city of York sits just an hour up the A64, a famously haunted city with many attractions such as the railway museum, river trips and excellent shopping. To the south along the coast, the Cleveland Way leads to dramatic Flamborough Head and the Bempton RSPB Sanctuary. The village of Cayton is a 500 yard stroll, with two local pubs, post office and shop. Full amenities are just over 4 miles away in Scarborough and fishing is available nearby. Beach 1 mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

The grounds of the cottages are beautiful, very well kept.
The grounds of the cottages are beautiful, very well kept. The cottage itself was impeccable and pristine. It is well equipped for all needs - cooking, bathing and fresh clean linen on comfortable beds. It is about a mile from Cayton Bay so a short drive or decent hike if you fancy the beach. There are shops relatively close for your pantry needs. The swimming pool is very small, but great for stretching and playing with younger kids (but deep for them so keep accompanied). It could be a couple of degrees warmer. I swam across it diagonally to get some stretches in. Overall - great value for money and I’d recommend. Take some treats for the site cat who is very loving and whom I named Killerby :)

We booked Redwood to take my elderly parents on holiday as we required downstairs living due to mob
We booked Redwood to take my elderly parents on holiday as we required downstairs living due to mobility issues. It’s a really lovely cottage with everything needed for a self catering holiday. The site is so lovely and peaceful and beautifully maintained . Bistro Nine Eighty does super food we had an evening meal and breakfast there . It’s a great base to explore the East Coast .A few constructive points would be the step into the living area needs to be made more noticeable it’s quite high and my 85 year old father fell down it , fortunately he landed on the couch ! To the side of the step is the hearth for the wood burner , we almost tripped over this several times . Possibly paint it a different colour as it blends into the wood floor . We felt these could also be issues for children . Dining table is really wobbly when eating 😂 and the couches are very low my parents struggled getting up from them and so did I as an able bodied person .As I say this is hopefully constructive criticism and wouldn’t deter us from staying there again

High quality accommodation in a nice setting.
High quality accommodation in a nice setting. There was a friendly and personal feeling throughout our week and the 'barn hospitality evenings' complete with log burner, bar and visiting food outlets added a nice touch.

Due to the weather, we didnt have the best time.
Due to the weather, we didnt have the best time. The cottage itself is nicely situated and whilst not walking distance, it isnt far from nice places to go. The pool was an added bonus ,although not very big , it was really handy on the wet days. I would like to point out to anyone who is disabled though-dont make the mistake I did. Just because it has a downstairs bathroom and bedroom-do not assume it is accessible like I stupidly did. It is not in anyway suitable for people with mobility problems- we managed to muddle through but wasnt ideal
