The rolling countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds has views that seem to go on forever, field after field with fantastic wildlife. There are chances you will see boxing hares or deer first thing in the morning. This is a fantastic place for a walking holiday, with the Wolds Way not far from the cottage which is a 79-mile walk that leaves Hessle and finishes in Filey. The walk takes you through the stunning Yorkshire countryside calling at quaint villages for refreshments. Cyclists too will find many interesting and enjoyable routes. The Wolds is also famous for the David Hockney paintings and where he found inspiration for most of his work. The coast is only a 20-minute drive away, within 11 to 13 miles of the east coast resorts of Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough. Visit the traditional seaside resort of Bridlington with its working harbour and local attractions such as the Spa Theatre and Sewerby Hall and Gardens, or further north is Flamborough Head, Filey and Scarborough, all great family resorts. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton is just a short drive away where you’ll find puffins in their natural habitat. If you fancy some shopping, the walled city of York is less than a 1-hour drive away. As well as shops, there are several museums, and of course the minster which is the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe. For those who prefer countryside pursuits, try some trout fishing at Driffield, or further along the road there is the Cottondale shooting ground. Beach 11 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 4 miles.
Elm Tree Cottage at Cottage Farm can be booked together with Willow Tree Cottage at Cottage Farm (UKC52) to accommodate up to 7 guests.

Totally loved this little cottage.
Totally loved this little cottage.. As a base to go off on some travels, it was fantastic. 20 minutes away from Scarborough and 15 to Filey... There is a little hur with things to buy, logs eggs and a few others, but would have preferred a small shop to go to.. but hay... I didn't book the place to go shopping and there are big stores about 9 miles away.. The pictures of the place on the website don't really do it any justice. We will at some point book again, so with that... I do recommend Elm Tree cottage.

The cottage was comfy and tastefully decorated.
The cottage was comfy and tastefully decorated. However, tableware was a bit sparce and could done without crumbs in drawers, cobwebs and flies (dead and alive). Outside would benefit from a good clean and tidy up!

Very well presented cottage which was well prepared and very comfortable.
Very well presented cottage which was well prepared and very comfortable. Quiet location but not isolated (it's on the B1249) so easy to go in any direction. Scarborough, Filey, Bridlington are all within about 10 - 15 miles (20 - 30 mins). Wifi was a little variable and we couldn't get a mobile phone signal most of the time but we managed communicating while we are out, when necessary

We booked Elm Tree Cottage as we wanted to visit the Yorkshire coastline, Moors and Wolds.
We booked Elm Tree Cottage as we wanted to visit the Yorkshire coastline, Moors and Wolds. It was a very peaceful location. Exactly as described, and per pictures. It was very tastefully decorated and had all you could wish for in a 1 bed cottage. It was spotless and had lots of cleaning products to wipe surfaces etc in light of Covid- 19. There.s even a 'shed' outside selling basics such as eggs ,milk etc which was a nice find for breakfast. Thank you.

A great cottage for 2, we both felt at home as soon as we arrived.
A great cottage for 2, we both felt at home as soon as we arrived. The lounge is great for relaxing after a day out enjoying the coast or Wolds. To make it even better I would have preferred a dishwasher to a washing machine and oven gloves would be handy. Other than that everything was provided. It was that good we have already booked to return.

The cottage made the holiday. It was in an excellent location as every place we visited was no more than 40 minutes away. The cottage was warm and cosy and very comfortable. One of the nicest cottages we have ever stayed in. Would absolutely recommend Elm Tree cottage.
