The 200 year old Llangrannog cottage, named after a nearby beautiful coastal village and beach, was once part of a working smallholding and is situated within walking distance of the Ceredigion Marine Heritage Coast, the first area to be established in Britain, which recognises the unspoilt nature of the coastline and its wildlife.
The detached cottage with its Welsh slate roof, exposed stone and beams has been completely renovated and is set in the pretty hamlet of Nanternis, near New Quay. The attractive hand crafted breakfast kitchen is the perfect place to start the day or French doors from the lounge lead to the enclosed garden where you can enjoy dining al fresco. On chillier evenings you can cosy up in front of the wood burner; the perfect place to relax with a glass of wine.
Step outside the grounds and choose from one of the many lanes and footpaths to explore, some take you along the unspoilt Ceredigion Coast Path and others through ancient woodland. Or make your way to the secluded National Trust cove of Cwmtydu, one mile, renowned for smugglers and pirates, the legendary Sion Cwilt was one such smuggler who used this bay in the 18th Century. The beach itself is pebbly and seal pups can often be seen here during the autumn months. Cwmtydu is nestled into the coastline, with paths offering excellent walking opportunities and connecting all the local beaches. The Cardi Bach bus service is a special summer only service, which takes travellers from Cardigan to New Quay and back twice a day between June and October. It links all the beaches in between and can transport two bikes. New Quay with its picturesque houses, pubs and restaurants, clings to the sides of the hills rising above the blue waters of Cardigan Bay, where bottlenose dolphins can be spotted. In season, dolphin survey boat trips are available from the sheltered harbour or you can just enjoy the sandy beach, have an ice cream or fish and chips and watch the boats bobbing about.
Visit the colourful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron, the ancient town of Cardigan with its castle or Aberystwyth with promenade and pier and home to the world’s longest working electric cliff railway. There’s so much to do in west Wales; why not come and discover it and make Llangrannog your holiday home.
Llangrannog can be booked together with Cei Newydd (CC621010) and Mwnt (CC621011) to accommodate up to 12 guests.
