Readyfields Farm is a working farm set on the edge of the picturesque Beck Valley with lovely views over the surrounding countryside, a peaceful quiet getaway, at night there is no light pollution so you can watch the moon rise and star gaze from your hot tub! There are footpaths on the doorstep for some great country walks, one of those walks will take you over to Winkburn, a little hamlet where you can find Beermats, a micro-brewery with its own taproom so that you can try before you buy!
New for 2022 is the tractor trailer ride. You can ride in comfort on the purpose-built trailer towed by one of the tractors through a private ancient woodland known for its fauna and flora where you may spot Brown Hares, Roe Deer, Buzzards, Muntjac and an occasional Red Kite! In spring you will see carpets of bluebells and also woodland primroses, you will also see the farm’s environmental schemes of wild flowers and nectar pollen mixes which benefit and support the wildlife on the farm. This ride takes you to Winkburn to the brewery where you may spend time sampling the beers before returning back to the farm (charge applies). Please book on arrival.
Charles Farm Tour - Charles is the owner’s son and 5th generation future farmer. You can meet some of the animals and get to sit in one of the farm’s biggest John Deere tractors, always a great photo opportunity, learn a bit more about what they do here on the farm and subject to the time of year, get to meet calves and puppies! (Small charge applies, please book arrival).
Newfields Farm dairy ice cream parlour a short drive away well worth a visit for a delicious treat. Southwell is also a short drive and has lots of quaint shops and cafés along with its own stunning minster. Newark on Trent is a market town 7 miles away with lots to do and see from picnics in the castle grounds to boating on the river, or a visit to the civil war museum, market days are on Wednesdays and Saturdays so why not grab a bargain! The Newark Show Ground hosts the Nottinghamshire County show each May and also hosts a whole calendar of events such as antique fairs and horticultural shows.
Also in the area are Clumber Park, great for walking and cycling, Sherwood Forest with the mighty Major Oak tree and home of Robin Hood, also Rufford Abbey and Newstead Abbey. Cresswell Crags are not to be missed, dating back to the ice age when mammoths and sabre tooth tigers roamed the earth, you can wander through a beautiful gorge with its many caves and artefacts dating back 1000’s of years. For the more energetic, try a visit to Sherwood Pines with its many cycle trails and Go Ape tree top experience.
The cathedral city of Lincoln is a 30-minute drive away where you can browse the many shops and restaurants, visit the Cathedral, home to the Magna Carta, or take a walk around the castle walls for some stunning views or visit the Victorian prison. The Lincoln Showground hosts the Lincolnshire Show each June and also has a calendar of other events throughout the year. Nottingham city is also a 30-minute drive away. It has many theatres for concerts and shows, plus an array of restaurants and shopping. You can visit the caves underneath the city or its historic castle. Both Lincoln and Nottingham can also be reached by train from Newark Castle train station and there are main line links from Newark Northgate. The A1 and A46 are just 7 miles away making the farm easily accessible.
