owner cancelled 2 hours before check-in
I can't speak to the cleanliness or comfort of this property, as I never saw it. After a few text exchanges with Sylvia around where to find the check-in details, I received a text from her 2 hours before the arranged check-in time saying "Cathy, I am sorry but we have a problem with your reservation. You will be contact by VRBO in order to resolve it". In my email inbox there was promptly an email from her titled "Payment refund for reservation..." There was no explanation, either from Sylvia or from VRBO, nor did I ever receive one. We arrived in Florence to meet up with the rest of our group of 7 people and spent 90 minutes scrambling to find a place for us all to stay. In order not to miss out on what was left of our short time with family, we spend 3x the cost of the VRBO on hotel rooms for all of us. I'll be honest, I didn't even realize this was a possibility... that my reservation could be cancelled hours before I arrived with no explanation. I still don't know what happened. I'm assuming she double-booked by accident. I never heard anything from VRBO and the most I got out of Sylvia (after 7 text messages went unanswered) was a text saying she was sorry and that this had "never happened to her either." She did offer to help me find another apartment (5 hours after she cancelled), but by then it was dark out and I had already booked us hotel rooms so we could store our bags and go to dinner. Yeah. I won't be booking with them again. Don't say I didn't warn you.
