Had a fabulous getaway at Lamar Cabin—Myrick’s Cabins…just outside of Greer Az. Private, cozy, well stocked, beautiful sky and treetop views from the living room and the deck. 9 days of recharging. Close to town but secluded in the forest. Will definitely be back.
Having usually stayed intown we really enjoyed being in the woods! The cabin was comfortable and very clean- a real bonus. I had a minor issue with the coffee maker and it was handled immediately. A place we will revisit. Also 30 degrees cooler than the Valley!
Needed a cabin that is as ADA friendly as possible. Owner took time to measure doors and provide a shower seat. The ramp to front door nice touch. To top it off the owner called promptly and let us know we had forgotten a couple of bags. Thank you for your hospotality!

We enjoyed our stay but had a rocky start when we arrived late evening to find the refrigerator had been turned off. We turned it on and it worked properly but we had to use a cooler and go to the local store for ice for the first night while it got to a safe temperature. Additionally some noisy neighbors for the first 2 nights showcased how close together the group of 4 cabins were .
the location is otherwise great.

Pretty bare bones
We stayed here for a long Labor Day weekend, so our main objective to get out of the Phoenix heat was met. I just kept thinking I paid almost $1K for a really bare-bones stay. As others have said, the living room futons are extremely uncomfortable and there's not right way to sit to look at the (old) TV. Also for almost $1K I'd expect more than one single skillet in the kitchen...that everything stuck to. And also more than one wine glass. There were little cardboard salt and pepper shakers like the kind you find at Walmart for $1 that weren't even full. It just seems like this place is a little run down and just banking that people are going to want to stay in Greer.
The 2nd bathroom's shower is extremely small--I could barely raise my arms to wash my hair. The main bedroom's bed was fine, but the pillows are tiny and most are flat. There's also only one bedside table in there, even with ample room to fit another one. If there are two people in that bed, one person just has to plug in their phone, put their water glasses/anything else on the floor.
The neighboring cabins are very close; you will hear each other. Everyone staying at our same time was courteous at night, which was great. One cabin played music all day in the afternoons which we didn't mind, but if you're looking for a very quiet trip you might not find it here.
The cabin was clean, but just old and worn. All of the owners communication says they want feedback, so I hope they see some trending ideas in several of their reviews and perhaps make some updates.
Wonderful is the best word to describe the cabin! One of the better upkept cabins we've stayed at in Greer. Loved the closed off porch that gave our pups a place to lounge outdoors and watch nature, which included watching the squirrels jumping through the trees! Cannot wait for our next Greer visit and fingers crossed the Lamar Cabin is available as we will definitely stay again. Thank you!!!
Our trip was absolutely wonderful! My husband and I had not been to the area before and appreciated such a lovely call with Kathy to tell me about all the wonderful things to enjoy in the area. The recommendations were wonderful. Additionally, the cabin was just incredible! It was cozy, clean, comfortable, and so relaxing. It was everything I hoped for :) Also the view of the stars since you are nestled away in the woods away from all the city lights was unreal. I highly recommend this cabin for a beautiful and relaxing time.
We all enjoyed our stay. We were a little confused at how to find the lakes mentioned, so we drove down some roads. Overall it was nice to be able to use my wheelchair inside. The kitchen & bathrooms are not accessible though & I needed help to get out to the deck, but nice to have ramps & grab bars. Greer is beautiful!
The cabin is in a great, quiet location in Greer. Close to several hiking trails and downtown Greer. Cabin was very clean and had everything we needed.
This was a perfect weekend getaway for my husband and I wanting to get out of the Phoenix heat and feel some Fall air. The cabin and property are exactly as listed, fantastic porch and a pretty stocked kitchen for cooking.
The only slight issue was the wheelchair accessibility. There is a ramp for easy access, but the screen door that swings out hits the angled roof and doesn’t open all the way so my husband had a really hard time trying to manouver the chair to get in and out of the cabin. Other than that, our stay was perfect.
For our group of 4 over-age-85 ladies, this is a perfect cabin. We especially appreciated the grab bars in the bathrooms and the ramp leading to the door (no steps). The cabin is clean, spacious, and located in such a way that it is very private in a . beautiful setting. Everything works and we found nothing broken! It looks almost new, being so well maintained. The host is friendly, readily accessible, and even dropped by to check on us during our stay.

Simple cabin
Very bare minimum rental. Sheets and towels were clean and plenty but the carpet looks dirty and smells like a wet dog. If you don’t have pets of your own you will not enjoy the smell of this cabin. The futon couches in living area are extremely uncomfortable so don’t plan on relaxing in there. Smart TV was a plus. Husband enjoyed the jetted tub. Kitchen pans need updated badly, wouldn’t recommend cooking many meals here. Overall it was an okay stay for the two nights we were there but I wouldn’t rent it again in the future just based on my personal needs and preferences.
The weather was great, the location was super convenient to fishing and a nice walk to Greer. The accommodations were as described with comfy beds and all the conveniences of home. We had a fabulous time ‘glamping’ in the forest!!
I'm not sure any place in Greer could be considered bad. This cabin was an OK place to stay. The location in Greer was just fine.
The size of the cabin as stated on VRBO is incorrect. It is not 1500 sq. ft. I became aware of this when I read the description on the Myrick's Cabins website which stated the cabin was 900 sq. ft. After bringing it to the owner's attention I was advised the cabin was actually close to 1000 sq. ft. As of today, the size stated on VRBO has not been corrected.
The bed in the main bedroom was very comfortable. The furniture in the living area (2 futons and a semi-recliner) were quite uncomfortable due to the fact that futons are just not comfortable to sit on (better for sleeping), and the location of the TV. It was difficult to find a comfortable angle for viewing.
The kitchen was fairly adequate. The biggest problem is the minimal choice of cookware. Everything we cooked stuck to the frying pans. Unlike other places we have stayed, the supplies of TP, garbage bags, etc. was good.
The carpets definitely need a good cleaning. I'm sure allowing dogs contributes to this. However, this may not be acceptable to someone renting the cabin without dogs. For those of us with dogs, the policy on having them is very appealing.
Our family enjoyed our Thanksgiving stay in Greer at this quiet cabin retreat that allowed pets. It was centrally located for our elk hunt and Christmas tree harvest. Kathy, the owner, was easy to communicate with prior to our trip. The cabin was clean and provided all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. We would definitely consider Myrick's Cabins in the future.
We have owned our property and the 32 acres surrounding us since 1948. The old Greer road, built during horse and buggy times runs through our property. A truly family business--designed & built and managed by the Myrick's for family fun!
Why they chose this property
If you are looking for an 'out in the woods' experience with the comforts of home, look no further! Our 4 cabins are located in the woods & surrounded by many acres of forest--away from the rat race, yet only a few minutes into the village for activities or restaurants!
What makes this property unique
Our lovely Lamar Cabin is perfect for honeymoon & romantic getaways as well as smaller groups! Relax on the deck while cooking on the BBQ. Take the dog for a walk to the Greer Lakes & catch a couple trout or crawdads. :) One of my favorite pictures, when my children were little, is when they peeked out from a mini "cave" in the big boulders a short walk up the ridge behind our cabins! Be sure to catch a view of the Greer Lakes while there. Catch the aspens change colors in the fall! Sunrise Ski Park Resort is 15 minutes away for downhill skiing & just down the road are trails for cross country skiing! Or just stay on site and relax in the huge double jaccuzi bathtub, play board games or puzzles. Hook up your HDMI cable to our smart TV for digital games! During winter months, build a snowman or have snowball fight & watch the little ones sled on our hill!
