What a gem of a place! Outstanding!
We stayed at the Groose Hoose for 4 weeks and what an amazing place! The house has everything we needed and more! The owners Phillip and Sue were super helpful and friendly! The hot tub was a huge bonus and was checked daily :) The views were spectacular and the wildlife - including red squirrels were fantastic! Definitely recommend and when we come back to Scotland we will hopefully get booked again! Absolutely outstanding/amazing/superb and peaceful! What an absolute gem! Thank you Philip and Sue!

Absolutely amazing!
Our family had such an AMAZING stay at this beautiful country cottage, so great that we were sad to have to leave. It’s a beautiful cottage, overlooking a valley of farms and the mountains behind them. The sunrises/sunsets were beautiful, it was quiet and relaxing, and we got to see a lot of the local wildlife. It’s a short drive to the Cairngorm mountains, which were stunningly beautiful. And, there was an information binder from the host with the history of the cottage, local attractions and sightseeing suggestions, and all of the local wildlife that we may see on our stay. I would 100% go back to visit this cottage in Blairgowrie.

Clean, comfortable with added touches to make it just that bit more special
Really pleased with the property and surrounding area. Great for families or couples. High standard accommodation. Although a few properties on site we were never disturbed and had privacy. Lots of things to do nearby. Owners friendly and helpful . Would definitely stay there again

Philip and Sue moved to Glenshee in 2006, after working in London for many years. Philip grew up in Scotland and skied regularly in Glenshee, so knew the area, and Dalnoid specifically.

Why they chose this property

We bought Dalnoid in 2006 after falling in love with the stunning views and have transformed it from derelict buildings, into much sought-after holiday accommodation.

From the first day we visited we knew how we wanted it all to look and how we would operate. After many months of hard work, we opened New Steading Cottage (now The Groose Hoose) in 2008 and have enjoyed welcoming our guests ever since, with many returning year after year.

In 2014 we had the idea to build a 'luxury treehouse for 2' in the field to the north. Build started at the end of 2015 and we opened The Scots Pine Treehouse to our first guests in September 2016. In 2017, we decided to build a 2nd luxury treehouse and The Silver Birch Treehouse was built and opened in 2018

What makes this property unique

We have had many self-catering holidays ourselves and are so often disappointed when we arrive, that the little things haven't been thought about - whether its a lack of coat hangers in the wardrobes, a desperate lack of suitable equipment in the kitchen, or a feeling that we need to clean the cottage before we can stay in it. So we have tried to ensure that at Dalnoid we've thought of everything:

- our cleaning standards are very high

- we don't charge for extras - so electricity, logs, bedding, towels, hot-tubs, wifi are all included in the price you pay

- you'll find a few treats in the kitchen when you arrive, along with plenty of basics you'd have at home (cling film, tin foil, plastic bags, kitchen roll, salt & pepper, oil etc)

- We've included everything we can think of in the kitchen, including a Scottish porridge spurtle! (but if you think of something else, just make a note in the visitor book and we'll see what we can do)

- there are at least 20 coat hangers in each wardrobe, so you don't have to live out of a suitcase on the floor

- there are soap dispensers at all of the sinks (including the kitchen), as well as a range of toiletries in the bathroom

- there are plenty of tablets for the dishwasher and washing machine and an initial supply of toilet rolls in the bathrooms

- there are a good supply of books and DVDs

- there are sledges (and snow shovels) for the winter months

- there are BBQs, comfy seating and a picnic table in the garden for summer months, as well as the private hot-tub which is available all year round

We try to ensure that our guests arrive and are pleased with what they see and they've not had to pack the kitchen sink to enjoy their holiday.
