Had a brilliant two weeks here - lovely house and garden and a large pool too. The village is pretty with a couple of nice restaurants. The location is perfect for visiting the attractions of the Dordogne. Would love to return here.
A truly beautiful house in the most picturesque and atmospheric village. The pool was perfect too! Beatrice was a great host, helpful and quick at replying. There was an optional 130 cleaning fee that was not obvious from the lisiting so we chose to clean oursleves. Other than that small point everything was exactly as listed! Would definitely come back.
We all very much enjoyed staying at the property - spacious enough to allow us to have our own quiet areas and for us all to gather together for eating and lounging around the pool. The owner very kindly provided a baby bath and an electric caftiere upon request.Facilities in the lovely village of Daglan were good - well stocked Proxi Supermarket for necessities and boulangerie. We ate at Le Petit Paris restaurant to celebrate a birthday but unfortunately the village creperie was closed during our stay. There is some noise from the road that passes in front of the property and squeaking from the landing floorboards but not too much of a problem.Overall a wonderful stay.
We spent a wonderful week in this unique property in Daglan, owned by the very welcoming and kind Béatrice and Jean-Paul. Given the extremely high temperatures whilst we were there, we spent most of our time in the garden and sizeable pool, but prepared lots of lovely meals in the very well-equipped kitchen (or on one of the two excellent barbecues) and ate outside on the huge round table with a very handy lazy-Susan! All so relaxing and peaceful. As a venue for our family reunion (we were six, but the house accommodates 8), I could not have chosen better. Many thanks to Beatrice and Jean-Paul for allowing us the enjoyment of your wonderful property.
The house was perfect, large & amply equipped. The rental was full of French country house charm, filled with an eclectic mix of objects & art. Showers had plenty of hot water. The pool was excellent with the added bonus of floats & a glitter blow up beach ball, which the 3 year old just loved! The large garden was beautiful and had a great barbecue, just perfect for our sunny evenings. The trampoline was well used even by the adults!
Great house and location to experience French village life
Very typically French-style house. Well-equipped with many amenities to enjoy the exterior facilities e.g. the pool, BBQs and table tennis table. The interior of the house is fascinating with cabinets full of antiques and many interesting paintings. The location was just what we wanted....walking distance to 2 fine restaurants, a baker and a creperie, as well as a museum and potter/artist.One comment: a little more information about shop opening times might have been helpful.
We had a great time staying in the villa. The location was so convenient for walking to the market, restaurants and shop. We loved the house and the pool and garden were great for relaxing with the family. Our best holiday and we will definitely return.
The house was spacious and well maintained with a good sized pool.
There is a bar and a couple of good restaurants within a very short walking distance.
My husband and I and our two adult children enjoyed a superb two-week vacation in Daglan in this beautiful home. We loved the location for it's proximity to both well-known and lesser-known sights, but most especially we loved the lovely and friendly town of Daglan, and the opportunity to immerse ourselves in local French culture. Beatrice and Jean-Paul and the local Daglan people were so very welcoming, and made us feel at home in their community. Daglan is a gorgeous little village that provides all you need: bakery, grocery/liquour store, casual restaurant, a fine-dining 1-star Michelin restaurant, an extremely charming creperie, and a weekly Sunday market. Additionally, besides many lovely walks right from your door, including the nearby pathway to the river park where you can swim in the river, there is a really good and easy bike route directly from Daglan through the beautiful Ceou Valley to the historic town of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle. Along the way there is a crystal-clear-water swimming spot. The bike riding and river dips were definitely among the highlights of our stay. The village of Bouzic is also within easy biking distance and has a charming little cafe and pizza place. Bouzic also has a great night market. Near Bouzic is also the panoramic tower of Moncalou. Finally, the large house, large outdoor patio areas, large garden, and large pool are all so very, very special. We loved the peace, privacy, silence and beauty of the setting.
The house is charming and comfortable; it’s an attractive home base in the Dordogne with indoor and outdoor space to enjoy, including a spacious yard and beautiful pool. It is situated in the very heart of Daglan with parks, hikes, restaurants and the town’s spectacular local museum just a short walk from the front doorstep.
The house was lovely, spacious and well equipped. Our (toddler) granddaughter loved the pool, which was enclosed and very safe. She also loved the trampoline. We enjoyed exploring the village and surrounding towns. Beatrice was very helpful beforehand - organising cot, bedding and high chair, and in giving directions. We would love to visit again.
This house has all the advantages of being in a village but with a huge private and peaceful garden to the rear. The pool is lovely with plenty of chairs etc. The hosts are attentive but not at all intrusive. We had a great week visiting all the pretty villages and sights in the area.
A very high quality listing, the garden, surroundings, house and village were charming, comfortable and provided us with a most inspiring place to read, dream, think and spend quality family time. Communication with Beatrice was mostly through Google Translate and some attempts at French, but was efficient and kind. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We had a very nice time. Daglan is a real find: it is both charming and has good amenities including the public tennis courts. The house had everything one could wish for and the swimming pool is especially to be commended. Very secure and safe if young children are staying at the house. thank you Beatrice
We had a wonderful week here. The property is spacious and comfortable, and well equipped with all you could need. The garden and swimming pool are absolutely perfect. The house is situated in the centre of Daglan but is not overlooked. We spent a lot of time in the (heated!) pool and exploring the local area. There are so many beautiful villages and cultural activities on the doorstep. I couldn't ask for a more ideal self catering villa to explore the best of the Dordogne.
It is a lovely restored authentic French house, with a large garden and heated pool. Daglan is a beautiful village with 3 restaurants, a bakery and shop, all in walking distance. The house was cool in the heat (especially in the afternoons in late May/early June). Beatrice was very welcoming and friendly.
We stayed at this fabulous house in Daglan again this year after a great holiday last summer . Beatrice and Jean Paul have added a lovely covered terrace outside one of the bedrooms with sun loungers . Our grandchildren loved the heated pool ,trampoline and table tennis table . We ate at L’Annexe restaurant in the village which was very nice and it was lovely to walk in the morning to the boulangerie for croissants . The children loved swimming in the river that runs through the village and kayaking on the Dordogne river . Thankyou Beatrice and Jean Paul for a wonderful holiday in your home .
What a find! Fabulous location in the heart of a beautiful village, with all you could possibly need to hand.
Excellent communication from the hosts on all occasions. (This break was booked 3 years ago and had to be cancelled twice owing to Covid. Beatrice was superb in helping us re-arrange each time.)
I am very grateful.
Interesting, cool and comfortable house with stunning gardens and beautiful pool
Beatrice is a fabulous host who answered my many questions both before and during our visit quickly. The house is large and airy, this was wonderful in the hot weather we experienced. Downstairs, the house is full of interesting and imaginative works of art and has plenty of space.
The garden is beautiful and we ate many meals outside, enjoying the views. The pool was a highlight for us all, definitely one of the best I've seen in a holiday home! The views from this area of the garden are just stunning.
Thank you Beatrice - we hope to stay again.
We liked the villa, its garden and pool, and the village of Daglan, a lot. The villa is spacious, having 4 bedrooms and effectively, 2 bathrooms, and is well equipped, so ideal for an extended family - in our case, 2 grandparents, son and wife, and 3 children. We all made good use of the pool, children especially so, though just to note, the pool is not heated so water temperature is weather dependent. Daglan can provide most food needs, having a mini supermarket and a number of eating facilities. The Dordogne (river) itself is about 15 minutes away by car.Of the nearby bastides, Domme is the best known, and feels like it...quite crowded. Much preferred was Monpazier. And Belves where one can visit troglo/cave houses under the main square. Our only regret was leaving after just 2 weeks...
The house was well equipped and comfortable . All 4 bedrooms are upstairs and a good size along with a family bathroom with a lovely walk in shower (no bath ) and there is a second good shower room downstairs and a second toilet in the utility area .Pool was very nice and heated and securely fenced in and lockable which was very important to us with small children in our family group . Children loved the trampoline and it has a great garden to play in . Everything we needed in kitchen including a fabulous drinks fridge , good barbecue and lovely patio area to eat outside . Daglan village is delightful and you can walk for croissants in the morning to the boulangerie in the village and a very well stocked ,small supermarket is also in the village . We ate at the L’ Annexe restaurant also in the village which was nice but did lack any choice on a children’s menu. There is a cafe in the village to get coffee and ice cream run by a very friendly lady who was always pleased to see us . Beatrice and her husband were always available and replied to any questions we had very quickly and live nearby if you need them .Good Wi-Fi .We had such a lovely holiday we have booked again for next year .
We were looking for a great property for our family of 5 with 3 adult children plus friend. The house did not disappoint! It was spacious and comfortable for the 6 of us and would easily accommodate 8 adult guests. The pool and garden are stunning with a large pool 5x 10m with gentle steps in and a depth of 1.50m across it was lovely to swim in and heated - a real plus. Plenty of sun loungers and not overlooked at all- with floats and a balls to play games. If you have small children it’s got beautifully designed metal fencing with a gate for safety. The garden area is so peaceful that you forget you are in the middle of a village only steps from the bakery, pizzeria, restaurant, art gallery, cafes and mini supermarket. Even has a Sunday market for fruit and vegetables plus cheese and meats etc
There’s a beautiful patio with dining and BBQs just located close to the house with shaded canopy if needed. Beatrice snd Jean-Paul are super attentive if you have questions and the pool is cleaned each morning without you knowing anyone is there. The garden is landscaped with secure parking located at the end of the garden
There’s a shower room with toilet upstairs and another on the ground floor with a separate toilet. Very helpful! (Bedding & 1 towel included per person)
The house is full of beautiful collections & very French styling that we loved and the children loved the traditional kitchen complete stunning drinks fridge.
It’s a fabulous place to relax!
