Perched on a hilltop and offering a wonderful view of the Black Mountains to the east and a fantastic panoramic view of the Pyrenees to the south, this sympathetically restored and well appointed stone farm cottage is the perfect destination for those looking to get away from it all, and the ideal spot to explore the South West region with its excellent tourist and sporting attractions. This old stone farm building has been sympathetically restored to an exceptionally high standard, maintaining many traditional features including exposed beams and stone walls, but with the modern comforts of air-conditioning and heating throughout. A large stone fireplace and wood-burning stove are the focal points of the lower living accommodation.
Leisure at the cottage: If your idea of a perfect holiday doesn't involve going very far then the cottage is just right for you. The fully alarmed 8 x 4 mtr swimming pool is next to a large sun terrace fully equipped with dining table, chairs, parasols and sun beds. The large garden area is big enough for kids to runaround in but close enough for you to keep and eye on them. Inside the cottage there is a TV with UK free-view channels, a DVD player with a large selection of movies, a bluetooth speaker and a large selection of books and games to help while away the long lazy days.
Leisure away from the cottage: Locally there are tennis courts, riding schools, golf courses, windsurfing, quad biking, canoeing, jet skiing, cross country running and fishing. We are happy to arrange lessons or day trips for any of these activities during your stay.
The many vineyards of the Gaillac region are only 30 minutes away and slightly further afield, but well worth the extra effort, are the Minervois, Cahor, Madiran and Corbière regions. We can recommend vineyards to visit and wine to buy during your stay.
Forty minutes away is the city of Toulouse, known as the ‘Pink City’ because of the colour of brick from which it is built, with its many historical attractions; The Capitole Square, St. Sernin Basilica, St. Etienne Cathedral and many museums. For the kids, a trip to the Citi d’Espace, the European Space Park shouldn’t be missed.
Just under an hour away you have the historical site of Carcassonne - a must for anyone travelling to the area.
Where to eat: There are plenty of good restaurants to help you discover the many culinary delights of the region, and our fully comprehensive welcome book gives details of all of them.
If you enjoy cooking while you have the time away, we grow our own fruit and veg in the garden which is available for guests to enjoy. Nearby farms sell their own produce including chicken, duck, fowl, lamb and cheese, and the Saturday Lavaur market is a treat for all the senses.
