Some of the amenities require some updates (games room pool table/cues), however everything else was great for grilling and hanging out, the location is peaceful, close to golf course, and overall the stay met expectations and would consider rebooking in the future. Thank you!
Beautiful property, very well stocked kitchen, had 14 people who do an annual trip together and we were all really impressed by everything the property had to offer. Wished we spent more than 2 days but will definitely be back!

The property was fabulous, big and comfortable. Only thing I wanted to mention was that you need to read everything in the rental contract they send - For Ex, we didnât find any shampoos, hand wash & body wash in all bathrooms -

Hello Utkarsh
We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us.
I am sorry that the cleaner forgot to check the levels of body wash in the bathrooms. We did bring you body wash immediately when you informed us.
I am confused by your comment about handsoap and shampoo.
You did not request handsoap, and I believe all bathrooms had sufficient amounts. As well, we do not presently offer shampoo and this is clearly stated on our VRBO site.
First time to rent a house! Everything was so smooth, I wouldnât hesitate to do it again! Such a much nicer experience for our hockey players and families then staying in a hotel!

The house is great, beautifully laid out for a large gathering and beautifully built. The kitchen is well appointed with quality appliances and we appreciated the little coffee room off to the side. Beds were comfortable and we had a great time. Some of the furniture (especially outdoors) could use some renovation, but the neighborhood, the spectacular views and the overall peace and tranquillity far outweighed anything we found lacking. Bottom lineâŚgiven the opportunity I would return in a heartbeat! Andre was a wonderful and thoughtful host. So thumbs up!

Andre had the place ready to go for us. All was clean, and she was very communicative in the booking process. Will definitely look to come back here with our team.

We appreciated the large amount of space available to our group here - the lodge was even larger than we expected! The property was great as well, with plenty of room for yard games. Though the lodge definitely had some wear and tear from previous renters.
Host was responsive and friendly. Overall a great experience, thanks for having us.

Hello Niko
Thank you for your review. We are glad you guys had a good time.
Yes, the furniture in the media room has developed wear-and-tear. It will be replaced in the Fall.
This property was a beautiful getaway for our bridal party on our wedding weekend! Andre was an excellent communicator, and was always just a phone call or text away.
The home was beautiful and there was more than enough space for our entire group to spread out and enjoy. Would recommend.
An Excellent Getaway in the Mountains of Chillwack
We were surprised by how amazing this place was. The photos truly don't do it justice. The space has quite a number of bedrooms with many of them attached to a private bathroom. The beds were able to separate for singles to get their own bed which was fantastic. The living room and kitchen area is a treat to be in with the basement acting as a games room connecting it to the back yard. It was a lot of fun staying here.

House was amazing and host was very understanding, we had a great time. Only tiny thing would be to repair the pool table, it has some scratches.
Thank you again for this wonderful time
Wow! What a nice experience! What a nice location, clean, spacious, well layered. We enjoyed the view, the hot tub the cozy living room, the pool table. We found everything we needed for a wonderful family and friends party. Thank you for this opportunity. đ

It was an incredible time, most things were perfect. I think the owner has been burned bad before because there is some inherent anxiety about renting it out. Iâm nitpicking though as it was great overall

Hello Cole
Thank you for your review; yes the house is amazing and I am glad that you and your fiends had a great time.
LOL.
The inherent anxiety that you spoke of only came about when I discovered I was renting a luxury house to a large group of men celebrating a Stag. :))
I am happy everything worked out. Cheers!
This was a great property if you're looking for plenty of space in a relatively remote (yet not too remote) location with a beautiful backdrop of the mountains and nature. Deer were regularly roaming the property and the mountains were right there in front of us, creating a beautiful setting for our weekend retreat. We made s'mores on the campfire, relaxed in the hot tub, went for a walk past the nearby farms, and enjoyed cooking in the big beautiful kitchen. At around 6,000 sq ft, there was plenty of space for us to spread out too. Andre was very quick to respond to any questions as well. A great stay all-around, thank you!

Property was as described in the description and it was great that the owner was able to lay the beds out that met our groups specific needs. House has lots of bedrooms and bathrooms and out door spaces.
The furniture is very worn and has not been upgraded in awhile and the yard is on the wilder side including around the fire pit.
The owners waiver is quiet extensive and a few times during the stay he would reach out making me feel like he was looking for reasons to not give back the damage deposit.
Overall the stay was pleasant and the hosts were responsive.

Hello Scott
I am glad you enjoyed your stay.
Strange that you felt I was trying to hold money back.
The issue was quite specific, namely the alarm system indicated to me that your group was often leaving the doors open. As you were informed (in the "extensive" policy) there is a very active rodent population in the surrounding fields that we do not want in the house.

We booked this property for out of town guests for a family wedding. We had 20 family members but there was plenty of room, it did not feel crowded. The contract was very lengthy and intimidating. I was a bit disappointed with the state of the home. One window was boarded up, the arm of the couch in the media room was falling off, the carpets were stained - it looked better in the pictures. Andre was nice to deal with. There was some confusion with the VRBO site but we were able to rectify the issue.

Hello Gail
I am at a bit of a loss regarding your review, and yet - considering your tone in our past conversations - not at all surprised by it.
The window was broken by a windstorm. As the house is 10 years old - and highly customized - they do not make the coloured framing any more. It is special order and with ongoing supply-chain issues, we are still waiting.
I will look at the arm of the couch: it is not uncommon for past guests to break things, set them back in place and say nothing. (hence the need for "lengthy" contracts).
I know about a few carpet stains from past guests but our guests usually rave about our home. Apart from these things, what gave us a 3 star review?
Was the $300 discount I gave you to clear up the confusion on the VRBO website not enough? Or the late checkout?
Your husband was very enthusiastic about our home: 6000sq ft, 8 bedrooms (with 6 king beds for 6 couples in your group), 6 bathrooms, pool table, hot tub, 20 ft cedar clad ceilings and beds for 20.
We have many repeat guests who love our home, and outstanding reviews on VRBO to prove it. It is obviously not the right place for you.
A wonderfully large house with great social spaces, a beautiful mountain setting, and kind and helpful hosts.
We were a large group of adults celebrating multiple 30th birthdays with a murder mystery party and some other games. This house fit all of our needs, with plenty of beds, large open-plan social areas, and lots of comfortable spaces to relax.
Pros:
- Kind and friendly hosts who went above and beyond!
- Beautiful social spaces in a gorgeous mountain setting.
- Comfortable beds, lots of pillow options, and large bedrooms.
- Clean bathrooms with plenty of hot water.
- A well-equipped kitchen with everything you need.
- Absolutely stunning upstairs lounge, patio, and dining room.
Cons:
- Only one communal bathroom, the rest are en-suites.
- Not many mirrors in the house, bring your own.
- Lots of farm smells in the evenings (can't be helped, it's just the location The daytime was lovely).
- Quite potent chemical smells in the hot tub. We ended up only using this once.
As others have noted, the rental contract is extensive, but we were happy to sign it. Andre was very thoughtful, a great communicator, and really made us feel at ease.
Thanks so much for a fabulous weekend!
If you have low to no expectations, this place is for you. We booked because we needed enough bedrooms and bathrooms for our group â and while the house is big, thatâs really the only positive. The home is poorly maintained. So much of it feels like itâs either falling apart or stuck mid-construction. They provide a long list of rules for guests, yet donât seem to hold themselves to any standards of cleanliness or upkeep. We arrived to a space that was dirty and generally not well cared for.Amenities were a major disappointment. The pool table is so damaged they shouldnât advertise having one. The âmedia roomâ doesnât exist â just a few broken old couches in front of a TV. The hot tub is extremely dated and chlorine-stained. The outdoor furniture looks like it was picked up from the side of the road. And then the final night â the power went out, and at 2am the house alarm started blaring. We called the emergency number six times with no response. After 20 minutes the alarm finally stopped, but we were freezing cold with no heat or power. We didnât hear back until 8am, when they simply apologized and offered us a late checkout⌠while the power was still off.We really tried to make the best of it, but when advertised features are unusable, cleanliness is ignored, and support is nonexistent during an emergency, itâs extremely frustrating. This place could be great â but right now, it simply isnât

We are genuinely sorry that you had an unpleasant experience. We love what we do and want our guests to be happy. Regardless of what you have written, we will send you the rebate we originally offered.
The cleaner had not completed the cleaning when you arrived 30 minutes early. We asked if she could come and complete the cleaning. You refused.
We have a 6000 sq ft home with a variety of furnishings - from a high-end living room set (a new $7000 addition) to some patio furniture in need of replacement. We are in the process of upgrading everything, including replacing the fridge. A frustrating feature of that model of fridge is that - for the glass shelves - the glass is sealed into the plastic. Spilled drinks seep into the crack between the glass and plastic, and it is near impossible to completely clean without breaking the glass. We are getting a new model.
There was a power outage in the middle of the night. The generator did kick in (it is so large, it triggered the motion sensor of the alarm in our shop), and then turned itself off. We were really shocked as we have recently spent $6000 to automate it (both it and the alarm system have been serviced and are functioning properly now). You called us at 2 am - we were asleep. I am sorry that you had such a hard night.
Many of our reviews comment on our quick responses and our eagerness to address any need of our guests.
We have had many excellent reviews, and guests who love returning to stay with us.
We appreciate tough feedback, but your harshness goes far beyond that.
Upside : Our stay over all was great! The house and property is beautiful and all 18 of our guests slept comfortably. We woke up every morning with some deer feeding on the grass. Our favorite parts of the property was the propane and outside fire pit and the kitchen they were a great place to hangout and share laughs and cook good food for everyone.
Down side: The only thing I wish is that the hot tub could keep its temperature. For a bit of context, I never owned a hot tub before and we rented this place in March so maybe it wasnt easy for the hot tub to keep up because it was still pretty cold. In our experience we would close the lid when it wasnt in use so that the temperature would warm back up, then when we wanted we would lift the lid and maybe about 6 of us would enjoy it, but the water temperature would drop quickly and stay at a warmish temperature. We tryed having less people in the tub at a time but we saw the same result.
Even though the hot tub wasnt the greats I would 100% rent this place again. There is still so much stuff and space to have fun in this luxury home and the manager of the house was super nice and very helpful throughout the process of planning and during the time we stayed.

Hello Kate
Thank you for sharing. I am glad that you had a wonderful time.
Strange about your experience with the hotter: in our 6 years of renting that house, you are the only one that ever had this problem.
We look forward to hosting you again, but maybe in warmer weather :)
Great space. A lot of rooms for larger groups. House had everything we needed.

About the host

My wife, Sandra and I love sharing our little piece of heaven with locals and international visitors. I was born in France and raised in Quebec. Sandra hails from Trinidad. We have owned Sante Mountain Villa for 10 years now, and we've met some truly wonderful people. It brings us great joy to know so many people have enjoyed a Business Retreat, Family Reunion, or Elopement here with us.
Why they chose this property
Chilliwack is one of the most stunning areas in Canada. Ryder Lake took our breath away and captured our hearts. It is incredibly beautiful with fresh, clean air, beautiful forests with mountain backdrops, and lots of wildlife. It feels like a world away from it all, a sanctuary, yet it is only 20 minutes to fishing, lakes, shopping, and restaurants. Cultus Lake, Chilliwack Lake, the Fraser River, and Harrison HotSprings are all nearby.
