About this property
Famous Artist's Residence Near to St Ives Harbour
First a sail loft and then home to a renowned St Ives artist, Ponckle's Place is embedded with history and is now a carefully updated holiday retreat in the heart of the old town.
You'll be able to smell the sea from your balcony it's that close. Watch the boats bobbing in the harbour from the modern kitchen or snuggle up on the sofa by the wood burner, you'll be enchanted by the character of Ponckle's in no time at all.
One of our favourite things about Ponckle's Place is the timeless feel.
The high ceilings, exposed beams, wood floors and quirky original artwork throughout add to the charm. Tucked away off Back Road East, restaurants, shops and galleries are all within easy reach yet you remain away from the main streets.
It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master ensuite bedroom has a king size bed and an ensuite bathroom with large bath, toilet and basin. The second bedroom is a twin and from the hallway you can access a shower room with toilet and basin.
The open plan living space is full of light. The wood burner will keep you cosy (and we ll provide you with a starter kit), the sofas are deep and comfortable and the artwork adorning the walls will capture your imagination.
The dining space is next to the balcony and has beautiful views over rooftops towards Porthminster point. It's a great place to watch the sailing club on Wednesdays and Saturdays or catch the fishermen heading back with their catch.
The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, hob, washer/dryer and lots of cooking utensils and also enjoys lovely views.
To enter Ponckle's you enter up a path accessed via a large blue wooden door off Back Road East.
All of it
We live locally and know the area really well. We're here to make sure you have a great time, whether it's surf tips or places to eat, your welcome to ask us for help and advice.
We use a self service check-in to give you flexibility when arriving, we might swing by to check everything is ok during your stay but we like to respect your privacy to.
You'll have our mobile number and email contacts if you need us. We're a friendly team and are easy to contact (despite what the one poor review says it's just not true!).
St Ives is a really special town. With a mixed history, it's an ancient fishing port that has developed into an artistic escape for many and is now one of the UK's best know holiday towns.
You'll find golden sand beaches with crystal clear waters, surfers love Porthmeor and there are at least 3 other beaches in a 15-20 minute walk from your front door.
Tate St Ives and Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Museum and Gardens are well worth a wander, both are in walking distance to.
The food scene is excellent and you can expect more than just standard grub. From family friendly to the likes of Porthminster Beach Cafe which serve excellent food in a laid back beach side environment.
Ponckle's Place is near to St Ives train and bus stations (10-15 minute walks). We find many of our guests don't use their car during their stay as St Ives has lots to do, if this might be you, do consider the train.
Everything in town is in walking distance.
There are some good local bus routes and we highly recommend exploring the renowned South West Coast Path.
To access Ponckle's Place you'll need to head through a large wooden door and through a shared undercover courtyard before leading up the private path to the front door.
St Ives is a seaside town and wildlife thankfully still plays a major role in the town. Don't be surprised if you hear seagulls or other birds, they can be quite lively at different times of year.
We'd recommend using The Island Car Park is travelling by car.
Ponckle's is dog friendly but we request £35 extra per dog per stay. We also ask that any dog is up to date with vaccinations, flea treatments and worming. They must never be left on their own in the property and mustn't go on the furniture. We also don't allow dogs in summer. Feel free to give us a shout if you have any questions on this.
