About this property

A picturesque view! An oasis of calm in a busy world! The perfect getaway!

This cottage captures the essence of coastal beach vibe.
Wake up in the morning and walk into the sunny, light filled living, kitchen and dining areas which offer wonderful scenic views of the picturesque beach wetland and town, then step outside onto the large balcony and listen to the tolling waves, watch dolphins and whales in season.

Below are some guest comments which are self explanatory.

Guest Review: "Bermagui Beach House is the perfect place to experience Bermagui. The house is beautifully furnished and very easy to live in. With our two children, 11 and 13 we spent 10 days at the house. All the fitting out of the house is perfect for a holiday, with a well appointed kitchen as well for a good cook up. We absolutely loved spending afternoons looking over the deck and seeing whale spouts out to sea, of which there were many!
The house is in a perfect position looking over the wetlands and beach and over the main point. Excellent access to the beach, as well as some 'secret' coves at the bottom of the cliffs and near the swamp coastal walk which is also great to bike ride. Bermagui is also a gorgeous little coastal town. We walked, rode, played golf, lawn bowls, swam and ate ALOT! We loved Il Passagio, the gelato shop got almost a daily visit and the prawns at the fish co-op were sensational. Our very favourite meal out was at Boneless for lunch - wow! The Blue Pool was beautiful and the river great to hire a tinny and motor or to have a fish. Jennifer was a great host - the access was easy and the little touches like providing good quality toiletries and linen, gourmet spices and seasonings all made for a great experience. Thanks Jennifer. When we venture back to Bermagui, we'll definitely be trying to stay at the house again! "Tracey Ezard & family

I am sitting at the table with my early morning cup of tea. Its our last morning of our wonderful two week stay at your wonderful beach house ! We have loved our return to this amazing spot Right now I can see "our" Eagle circling over the foreshore below We've loved seeing all the bird life , the black swans, the black cockatoos!!! Galahs on the beach and of course the bellbirds and whip birds reminding me of my childhood.

This is a very special spot, a very special beach and the wetlands all in close proximity to this great house You have set this up so well We were very comfortable and enjoyed all your eclectic decorations and imaginative touches

I loved seeing the soaring seagulls again near the stairs We have had a great holiday, very relaxing and special The beach has been really fabulous The water so warm at the moment and we even swam with dolphins and schools of tiny fish the other day

Thank you Jennifer we've had such a memorable stay in your great little beach house Hope to be back before too long "

Bermagui has remained a quaint seaside town, with an excellent year round temperate climate it is set amongst surfing beaches, lagoons and coastal wilderness famous for its whale watching, surfing, boating, not to mention the natural beauty of its waterways, beaches and hinterland forests, a peaceful town, famous for its fishing, Bermagui nestles around a safe, all-weather harbour dating from the 1830s. The continental shelf is just 20 km offshore – its closest point to the Australian mainland – which means exceptional deep-sea fishing. In particular, the town is known for its yellowfin tuna and the famed black marlin.

It's the perfect place to loose yourself while you enjoy water sports, hiking, mountain biking and much more.
You will be spoilt for choice by pristine waters and the natural beauty of our quiet and sometimes secluded beaches, lakes, pools and other unique coastal landscapes in and around Bermagui. Explore some of the best kept secrets of the Sapphire Coast … or some of the not so secret.

Families and children love the seasonally patrolled Horseshoe Bay Beach, the rocks at either end provide great exploring and snorkeling and sometimes meeting with a local seal.

Moorheads Beach and Haywards Beach do a long lazy stretch north of Bermagui to Camel Rock. The old road leading in to Bermagui follows Moorheads Beach and now makes a leisurely walk with bird hides along the way. Camel Rock Surf Beach is another wonderful photographic and picnic spot. Leave the camel behind and delve into the rock pools or pick up the coastal walk to Wallaga Lake. One of the largest coastal lakes in NSW, Wallaga Lake is an area of outstanding natural beauty with special significance for the Aboriginal people of the area. Enjoy a myriad of water activities or simply spend time enjoying the pace and the black swans. Murunna Point which overlooks the mouth of Wallaga Lake will keep your camera lens busy.

Bermagui has most facilities and they are open 7 days a week including the 18 hole golf course, lawn bowling, tennis and croquet clubs as well as a Surf Lifesaving Club & Mountain Bike Track.

Bermagui is close to Canberra, Albury/Wodonga and the ski fields. we have wineries, various galleries, art & music, a variety of attractions close at hand. The drive to Sydney is a comfortable 5 hours and Melbourne is about 7 to 8 hours away.

Dreaming of the perfect holiday? With forests lush pastures and coastlines sculpted into a succession of wonders by the sea? The Bermagui Beach House is the place to be. With a view you can reach out and touch the Beach House has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a funky outdoor claw foot bathtub that soothes the spirit as a symphony of sound from the wetland and the ocean serenade you under a starlit sky. With a modern well appointed kitchen, leather lounges and shabby chic dining suite the Beach House gives you that homey feeling that beach houses of yesteryear had which will stay with you long after your stay has ended. Topped off by a hardwood timber deck (dotted with Blue Fairy Wrens) big enough for your family to relax and slow down to dream pleasant dreams.

Where the South Pacific Ocean meets the beach just beyond the timber deck the dress circle views take in the Black Swan inhabited wetland and the Bermagui Harbour where Seals are known bob about the fishing boats.

The lounge, dining room and kitchen are flooded with blue sky and ocean that form a stunning backdrop of migrating Whales, squadrons of Pelicans, flotillas of Iris, gangs of Black Cockatoo’s, hovering Hawks, fearless Falcons and majestic White Breasted Sea Eagles, that evoke a more gentle and simple world from a time gone by.

Bermagui Beach House
Overall a positive experience. The house is well located and very clean and well appointed. Communication from owner was very good. Amenities and kitchen provisions were very good. A few small negatives are that despite it being advertised as a 4 bedroom sleeps 8 an extra person fee is charged for more than 2 guests. So my daughter was required to pay an additional fee per night. This seems silly for a 4 bedroom house. Additionally the night before our arrival, a bedroom received water damage through an open window and so this room was available for our use during the stay. The ceiling fan was non operational over the dining room. Otherwise an enjoyable stay.

Gorgeous even when it rains!
Had a fantastic Christmas at Bermagui. The kitchen is really well appointed so we managed to cook a lovely christmas lunch and even though it rained the spectacular view made that a treat as well. Would happily stay again.

About the host

After 20 years in Byron Bay we were looking for a new location, a beachside destination that was quieter and we found this cottage only metres from the beach with its' spectacular view, it is the perfect getaway for our family and our close friends, or a solitary escape!

Why they chose this property

We were enchanted, when we found the town of Bermagui with it's ideal beach setting and surrounded by fabulous mountains, coastal walking tracks, great surf breaks, perfect lakes for kayaking, kilometres of unspoilt coastline...

And then this house, with its direct access to the beaches on both sides of Keating Drive. The fantastic view of the beach, the wetland, the harbour and the town.

The house needed some updating so we installed large sliding doors across the front, to allow the ocean breezes to flow through the house, and extended the deck so we now have a living area outside, a new BBQ, outdoor dining and lounges.

Just a short walk or a shorter drive to Bermagui with its trendy cafes, great local gelato, bohemian shops, and well-known restaurants and the fabulous ‘Blue Pool’.

What makes this property unique

Best to let the guests describe their stay:
This place is amazing, highly recommend. The view is stunning, and the location for beach walks is fantastic. Really great living spaces - outside and inside dining areas are spacious with the beautiful views over the beach. Amazing dog friendly place as the beaches are dog friendly and so close, and the balcony area is gated for safety. We had a lovely time here. Chris Graham
