Loved my stay at the house and was so happy I could bring my fur baby along for the trip! The host was very quick to respond and prior to my stay, provided a detailed document outlining the directions to the house and best practices for driving on the 4x4 beach. I will definitely be returning!
We had a great long weekend at Nana's house! The house was older as we knew it would be, but it was clean and well maintained -even better than we thought it would be from the photos. Unfortunately, we had kind of crummy weather while we were there, overcast all weekend and rainy, but our kids were able to utilize the home's Alexa for a dance party and we were able to log into our streaming accounts for a movie night. We were able to walk to the beach from the house - the distance is only a couple city blocks away. We didn't see wild horses from the house, but we did a few drives around and ended up seeing a large herd of them on our way back home on the beach! They were so beautiful and the icing on the cake of a great family weekend away.
Overall, a lovely place. Nice to be on one level with the dogs. Short drive or walk to the beach. We had a maintenance issue that was managed swiftly. Fairly well stocked. Bed was a little softer than we like, but it was comfortable overall. Plenty of extra blankets and pillows. Check in was easy. We received info several days prior with lots of helpful hints for our stay. One small note is that a deeper cleaning in a few areas would make the place feel even more welcoming.
We really enjoyed staying here. It was so calm and peaceful and we were able to relax the whole time. We loved being able to wander the neighborhood and see the wild horses. Loved being able to spend the whole day at the beach and wake up to see the sunrise. Highly recommended staying here!!
If you’re looking for a relaxing beach house surrounded by nature and secluded beaches, this checks the box. We had such a great time we requested to extend our stay, which the host was gracious to accommodate. Will definitely stay again!
The house was very clean and had everything you needed to enjoy your stay ! You could hear the sounds of the ocean in the evening . We enjoyed our First trip to the Outer Banks. Thanks so much
Family, including the dog, had a wonderful time. We saw the wild horses on the beach on our way in and could hear the waves from the deck! The house is equipped with EVERYTHING you could possibly think of. Wished we could stay longer
We loved it.
Place has the old school northern outer banks charm.
Super clean, quite and off the beaten path.
We come up every year to fish with a bunch of friends and got our own place this time as we were arriving later this week.
Close and convenient for us to get to the beach and back home late after drum fishing.
Super hot showers and great water pressure are bonuses for this place.
House was very clean and comfortable. Loved having sheets and towels provided. You can hear the ocean from the house, and it’s a quick drive over the dune to park on the beach (passes provided) and set up for the day. Entry code made check in super easy, no key to worry about. Check out process also very seamless. We saw horses on our drive up the beach and a few sightings near the house! What a cool place Carova is. Hope it stays wild.

Beautiful secluded location, 5-10 walk from the beach. Does require a car that can go off road as it 30-40 minutes of driving on just sand to get there. Highly recommend stocking up on EVERYTHING you will need before you head up the beach as it takes a bit to get back into town to get any kind of supplies. Be sure to bring in water - tap is drinkable but unpleasant and there was not a water jug stocked when we got there. Bathroom only had 3 rolls of toilet paper, so bring that too. Kitchen has all the utensils you need but is not stocked with salt, pepper, oil, flour, sugar, or other pantry type items. Do NOT drive up on Saturday. Pick any other day to start and end your stay. Traffic up the peninsula is horrid - took 3 hours longer than expected as most rentals are Saturday-Saturday and the peninsula is NOT equipped for that level of traffic
Overall, we had a great family vacation here and really enjoyed our stay. The house itself was clean, the location was very quiet, and being so close to the beach was a huge plus. The included beach parking pass was great! We loved being able to bring our dog along—she had a great time too! We took the top off our Jeep and spent several days driving on the beach, which made for an unforgettable trip. Our toddler absolutely loved the beach, and it was wonderful seeing him have so much fun. There were a few downsides to be aware of. The drive to grocery stores and restaurants is fairly long about an hour away to the closest ones so I'd recommend bringing as much as you can with you. We noticed quite a few roaches outside at night, although we didn't have any issues with them inside the house( supposedly that’s normal according to google) The dishes and cookware could have been cleaned more thoroughly before our arrival, so we ended up washing them before using them. We also found the beds to be a bit uncomfortable.Overall, the pros outweighed the cons for us. We made some wonderful family memories, enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, and appreciated having a pet-friendly place where our whole family including our dog could enjoy the beach together.
