To help you with this name. No,it is not Aboriginal or South African, it was coined by the original owners from "rude-are we" We are not rude but we do seem to be stuck with the name.
ACCOMMODATION Rudawe specialises in group bookings. Our favourite group is the multiple Mums, Dads and Kids. The sleeping arrangements, facilities and equipment best suit this application. However, we have many satisfied customers who have stayed here from groups including sporting clubs, small business team seminars, birthday buddies and of course, the extended family reunion. We are permitted to have 18 guests but have sleeping options for 25
The 5 Bedrooms, 3 Bathroom (unlimited hot water), plus a caravan with 2 double beds as well as 2 refridgerators and a deep freeze will cope with your crew. Two 18 person dining tables, one inside and the other outside on the balcony under the canopy, together with the fully equipped kitchen ensures that you will not be cramped even at full capacity.
Equipment includes a 10ft.x5ft. Billiards table and a matching timber indoor soccer table. The wide screen TV has all free to air channels, as well as CD and DVD. These items along with the enclosed wood fire and the Bar are in the 85sq. mtr. rumpus room downstairs. Now with new reverse cycle heating & A/C.
The Lodge does have many surrounding houses so the normal EPA noise restrictions will apply. These will be explained to you when you send an email. Bond will vary according to group type.
FACILITIES Outside under the gazebo is the 8 person hot spa that is the favourite of all who stay here. You will see from the selection of photos in and around Rudawe that our main goal is to make your stay fun, interesting and very enjoyable. Being a waterfront property the Lodge has its own private pontoon for your personal use. If you are concerned about lake levels please enquire before you book. This floating jetty is accessed by a clear level walking track. Great for safe swimming or boat mooring. The house is set on one acre that is on the edge of the Lake. Because the property is situated right at the end of the Taylor Bay "arm," your aspect looks over a grassed flat area (which is ideal for sports and games), across to houses of other Bay residents nestled in the dense bush.
RATES AND MINIMUM NIGHTS The nightly rate of $900.00 is for up to 10 guests Additional guests $90/p/n. Children 5 and under are free.
The Lodge has a 2 night minimum except for long weekends which is 3 nights, Easter and Melbourne Cup is 4 nights and any booking that includes Christmas or New Year is 5 nights minimum.
PETS Much as we love dogs, Rudawe is not securely fenced and is abundant with wildlife. It is not suitable for pets and we ask that you leave them at home please.
LOCATION The Taylor Bay area of Lake Eildon is unique in that access to the Lake is only possible through private land. Large signs on the no-through road entrance to the Bay declare that there are no facilities available to the general public. Taylor Bay is located just 7 mins. from Eildon and 15 mins. from the dam wall. Remember that when lake levels are low all the water is in front of the wall. Eildon is approximately 2 hours drive from Melbourne along the Maroondah Highway. Should you find that the Lodge is booked for the dates you want, ask us about other accommodation in the area.

We had a wonderful time with our family and friends, loved the pool table was wonderful to go out for tea and come home play pool and listen to music to unwind after a day on the water. Very relaxing and lots to do, loads of character this place has.
Perfect for groups with kids, down stairs was massive with plenty of room for them to run around.
Great spot for boats etc the lake was at 100% and the boats were a stones throw away.
Would recommend!
We all had a fantastic stay at John’s property. The house was huge and comfortable, with plenty to keep us entertained! John is a very great host. Would recommend this house for a fun filled weekend away!
Our group had an amazing time with the jacuzzi, pool table and foosball table. The house was spacious and the area was beautiful. It is a great location for a gathering and we had an amazing time. The owners were very helpful and friendly also.

The lake
The lake was beautiful. We had a great time, the property is in need of a bit of love.
John was a great host, happy to help at any time and very informative of the processes. House is as it’s advertised. Very happy with price and facilities.
John was a great host. The boat ride on the lake on the party boat was lots of fun. The house met all of the requirements for our group. The downstairs entertainment area with pool table, foosball table and fire was a great space. The spa was very enjoyable.
Thanks a lot, John for your warm welcome.
The accommodation is great but most importantly the experience you provide is amazing ! The boat tour on the lake and the sunset cocktail experience on the ridge of your land were just wonderfull !

John was a lovely host and was very accommodating
The place was great for a group but was quite run down with a few things broken or not working. Needs a bit of TLC but was a great space for groups
We celebrated my husband 50th Birthday at Rudawe with our cherished family and friends. We loved the location and the space provided. John was a lovely host and every little details was thought of and provided for a group gathering. Plenty of games and cricket bats . the trip out on to the lake was a highlight and our family enjoyed this.

Good location for a large group getaway
We were a family group looking to getaway with a ski boat, and smaller tinny - the location is great for a getaway but with the ski boat we had to drive around to the main boat ramp at Eildon wall to launch and retrieve not a huge issue but access to the property is pretty tight and most properties have steep access in Taylor’s Bay Area that is the attraction - a positive but a bit limiting for ski boat trailer access - there was a dirt ramp nearby but that was pretty rugged - got the tinny in ok. The house itself, as reported by other reviewers does need a little TLC - some have said it adds to the rustic experience, but it is pretty tired. The host was very good - we did have a misunderstanding- around a 5 knot limit - totally our fault as the small print on the map provided had it noted an error on our behalf - and quickly corrected - we did leave an item at the property John retrieved it and used the postage paid envelope I provided to send it back - thank you. To be honest I think it is a good place for a quick getaway but for easy access to the lake perhaps not the best but John does offer a lake experience which apprently is pretty good

Expectations not met
Unfortunately our stay was not as seamless and as good experience as what we expected given the photo's description and price we paid to stay at Rudawe Lodge.
Photo's of the property under the Vrbo listing are very old, out of date and not representative of the houses current condition.
Whilst John the Owner was good on the comm's over the phone when we needed to call him, there was no handover/explanation of how things work, where bins located some of the basic's of house to operate the house
The house was not in a clean state when we took possession and we took it upon ourselves to clean out shelves and cupboards of dust and dead insects before unpacking our food and supplies for the weekend.
We had to top up on some basic supplies of dish-washing detergent, toilet paper and other basics which were not supplied.
It was a real shame given we booked this 12 months in advance and my 1 piece of advice to John is that he needs to give the house a big clean, update the photo's online and make some adjustments to his rental expectations.
We are well seasoned short term holiday renters and unfortunately this is the only house that i have ever written a negative review on.
Incredible stay with beautiful lake views and amazing boat ride into the lake, highly recommend!
I couldn’t recommend this accomodation highly enough. John was a great host that was super helpful and always answered our calls if we had any questions. He also took all 18 of us out onto his house boat for a ride into the middle of the lake. We were then able to jump off and boat and swim in the lake. the scenery was amazing and it was so kind of John to do that for us for free. There was a big long table that fitted our whole group for communal meals. Multiple indoor communal spaces with a pool table, foosball table, a bar, big kitchen, tv with Netflix. Wifi was also available and the hot tub was amazing. There were heaps of beautiful birds that would come say hello on the balcony as well. This was the perfect stay and we had such an amazing time there.
The photos on the listing aren't accurate with the house being more run down than the photos. The listing also showed the house to be more spacious than it is. With that being said however there was plenty of room for our 11 person group. John the home owner is a true legend. He was super accommodating and took us on many great local experiences including wine and cheese up on a look out on his property and a great day on his boat.
