The 1,500 square-foot 1930's duplex is in the heart of the best neighborhood in Houston. It is within walking distance of many restaurants, cafes and nightlife spots, and is very close to museums, the Houston Medical Center, downtown and the sports stadiums. Our place is perfect for couples and friends, business travelers, as well as medical center visitors. The apartment occupies the first floor of the building and has it's own entry. This is a calm, comfortable, clutter-free home that you will love for its charm, well-equipped kitchen and unbeatable location.

Another great stay!

This was our second stay in this lovely home and we will be back. It is comfortable, spotless, and welcoming. Deborah and Anton are great hosts, going above and beyond. The floor plan is perfect for us and our adult son, and the location puts us near all the people and places we came to Houston to visit.

Extended weekend in the city

The property was so nice for what I was looking for. A place closer into Houston, but quiet and relaxing. The space was so beautiful and clean. I will for sure recommend others to stay here and hopefully I will be too!

Wonderful stay in Montrose

This VRBO is just the best! Extremely clean and convenient to the Houston Medical center. It is well equipped and the owners are just super! We have stayed there twice and hope to again on our next trip to Houston!

Quiet oasis in the heart of Houston

Ideal

Ideal location, ideal size, ideal for us. 3 people in Houston for Foto Fest who dined in one night (tip-top kitchen) and also ate out nearby. Very tranquil and quiet at night. Also Menil and St Thomas nearby.

What a gem!!

Such a warm, comfortable place for a relaxing weekend in Houston! The best kitchen we've had for a short term rental, quite well stocked! Convenient location to venues and great restaurants! Host has thought of every touch to make this a special place. The great reviews are well-deserved!

Houston Wedding

We absolutely loved our stay here! The rental was charming, clean and very comfortable! It was perfect. Very convent, close to great areas yet on a very quiet street with a quiet yard to relax in. Truly a refuge! We will be back.

Wonderful Home in Montrose

Great place for a weekend in Houston with a few friends. The place was clean, beautifully decorated, and stocked with everything we needed (Deborah even had slippers on hand in case any of us were cold during an unexpectedly chilly weekend). Deborah is a responsive and thoughtful host. The place is quiet but still an easy walk to several great restaurants, bars and shops. We all had a great experience and I would love to stay here again.

Girls Weekend

We love this beautiful home!!! Deborah and Anton put so much thought, love and consideration as they decorated the house. Even left us some nice surprises for our arrival which we thoroughly enjoyed! We loved how close the museums were to the house and so many wonderful places to eat. Thx for the Scrabble game! We’d forgotten how much fun that it!! We definitely plan on staying here again!!

Delightful Stay

Deborah's cozy Refuge in the Heart of Montrose was perfect for my husband, adult son, and me while visiting for graduation weekend. Parking and check-in were a breeze, and Deborah had penned a welcome note for us. The apartment is very clean, the beds are comfy, and the bathrooms have plentiful bath supplies. We appreciated the well-stocked kitchen, with drinks and wine in the fridge and fruit and snacks for us. Deborah's guide book offered terrific suggestions for nearby dining. We walked to Hugo's for dinner and then to Voodoo Doughnut for a sweet treat. The location is ideal and was so quiet and relaxing during our busy stay. The courtyard in back is lovely and peaceful. We explored the neighborhood, visited the Menil Collection, and had a fun day at the Houston Zoo. Deborah introduced herself, and it was a joy to meet her and chat. We didn't want to leave, but when it was time, check-out was simple and stress-free, with no chores. Thank you for making us feel at home. We'll be back!

Daisy Buchanan and Jay Gatsby could have stayed here.

Totally renovated 1920's apartment with a King suite as well as a Queen suite. Kitchen was well stocked, comfortable living room furniture, great tv, and an outside courtyard was an oasis in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Deborah was an excellent host. Ten minute easy drive to MD Anderson where I am a cancer patient. It was nice being in a home atmosphere rather than a hotel.

Beautiful & comfortable

This was a girlfriends trip. Two old gals off for a genealogy trip. This beautiful and very comfortable house is convenient to the museums & the Clayton Library for genealogy. It’s well stocked with anything you’d need and Deborah, the owner, was a delight. Very welcoming and gracious. This will be my first choice for any trip to Houston in the future. In fact, if it were booked, I’d try to adjust my plans to a time when it was available.

Long weekend in Houston

Took my 92 years old father to Houston to see his granddaughter for Easter weekend. Anton met us upon arrival at night with the property well lit, helping us get settled. We were greeted with a bottle of wine, fruit, water, snacks, as well as a personal note. The property was well stocked with bath towels and toiletries. Deborah communicated well throughout the entire process. The neighborhood is walkable to many great restaurants and coffee shops. Thank you for sharing your lovely home.

An Absolute Gem

Deborah and Anton go to great lengths to make your visit as comfortable and pleasant as possible. We went there to visit the Impressionist exhibition at the Fine Arts Museum and the Menil Collection. Deborah had a fabulous book waiting for me regarding the history of the Menil Collection which was such a great treat! The townhome is simply lovely with well appointed furnishings, spacious bedrooms in a pretty, tree lined and well established neighborhood. You can even walk to a big variety of tempting restaurants. We will definitely stay here again!

Perfect, Cozy, and Terrific Hosts!

This apartment is ideal for a comfortable, cozy stay in central Houston. The 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment is a spacious downstairs flat in a duplex with the owners residing in the upstairs flat. I stayed for a month and, in addition to loving the accommodations and location (quiet street but in the Montrose area near restaurants, etc), the owner/hosts made my stay very special. They are wonderful and had thought of everything to make my long stay comfortable. I can’t say enough about both this apartment and my hosts. I will make this my home-away-from-home whenever I visit my daughter and family in Houston!

Restored my faith.

We had a great stay! Anton and Deborah are wonderful hosts. They were very attentive to our needs and made us feel right at home. This property is unique because it lives up its reviews. Prior, we had a few very unsatisfactory experiences with VRBO and air B&B while in Houston. All previous had great review and were just bait and switch. So, I was skeptical and was ready to NEVER use either platform ever again. But low and behold! Anton and Deborah take much pride in their property and I highly recommend their place to anyone:-)

We are both professionals and have lived in Houston for almost 20 years. We love to travel, but we find comfort in returning to the peace and quiet of our home. We enjoy having dinner parties with friends, walking, reading, undertaking different projects around the house, meeting new people.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this duplex when we first visited it. We loved the light, the windows and the size and layout were perfect for us. Anton personally did most of the complete remodeling that we undertook while we lived in the upstairs apartment. It was a labor of love! We knew we wanted to live in an older home and preserve some bit of history in Houston. Van Buren is a calm street amid an increasingly bustling neighborhood. Most everything is within walking distance. We still live upstairs, but have lived in both units and love each for their own unique characteristics.
