Thanks for the nice review. Sounds like you and your families had a great time. Thank you for your business.
What an incredible week at the Stone Lake House! The sandy beach, crystal clear lake, quick walk to the local mercantile and fully stocked gourmet kitchen all made for a perfect retreat for our large extended family. The home is spacious and well appointed with plenty of beds and baths and the screened porch was perfectf for meals and evening games. Lily pad, water platform, fenced dog area that connects to a bedroom/sunroom, large dock to hang out on and kayaks/canoe made it even better! We all actually quite enjoyed having the trains running nearby, though if you're a light sleeper you will hear them
We just had the most wonderful 4th of July vacation. The cabin is well stocked with essentials and had games for the kids and adults to play. The kitchen is well stocked and there are plenty of spots to sleep. The lake is super clean and there is a cute little town right across the railroad tracks. We rented a pontoon from Round Lake Marina and the staff was so kind. Went into Hayward for dinner which is so cute and only about a 20 minute drive. Played golf 2x at a par 3 pizza and golf course with the kids and then Tagalongs golf course with adults only. This area is beautiful. Highly recommend.
We had a wonderful stay with 8 adults and two babies. The bedrooms were comfortable and everyone appreciated the en suite bathrooms. The kitchen is a dream to cook in and we spent a lot of time on the screen porch. The lake was clear and sandy. We enjoyed the walk in the morning to town for coffee at whistlepunk or to pick up blueberry fritter bread at the grocery. It was a great week!
Beautiful place, fantastic host, even in a tough situation
We had a couple families looking for a well cared of, good sized space for a winter cabin weekend for the Birkie ski race. The size and feel of Kevin's place was perfect, cozy while big enough for our kids to play. Kitchen, bedrooms, and gathering spaces were all really nice and well cared for. Unfortunately, our first night, a drain pipe was frozen and backed up water into the basement. Kevin responded right away and had multiple people out first thing the next morning. He followed up with texts and phone calls and did everything he could to get the issue resolved but unfortunately, due to the severe cold was unable to get it fixed that weekend. Kevin was so on top of it, he even found us another place to stay which is near impossible during the Birkie weekend. Overall, would stay with Kevin again even though it didn't work out this time.
My Husband & I like to take our three daughters, spouse’s & grandchildren on a Family Vacation every year. This year we chose the Stone Lake House on the clean crystal clear Stone Lake in NW Wisconsin.
This is a very special property. The owner was very friendly & responsive in all our communications. This is a historic 150 year old home that the owners have beautifully restored. I loved the interior decorating ! The decor was creative with vintage touches. Every single room had something special to look & marvel at. The numerous bedrooms were perfect for our large family. The younger grandchildren had a blast playing on the expansive lawn, the Sandy beach& swimming in the shallow clean water. The older kids loved skiing, wake boarding & skiing on a pontoon boat we rented.
The kitchen was high end & very spacious. We cooked at home every night, because who wants to go out when you’re in Stone Lake Paradise! Our 9 yr old Aussie was never happier than hanging out with the family, riding on the stand up board or our Kayak. So everyone had such a good time & a lot of memories made & family pics to cherish. This VRBO property is a very special place. The owners thought of everything in their Renovation of the home. Everything was well thought out to take advantage of the views of lake which were outstanding. Everyone loved the huge screen porch overlooking the lake & the 4 season porch with more great water views.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us

Thank you for the kind review. We appreciate the time you took to write this very kind review. We want to make sure our guests have a great experience. Spoke with VRBO yesterday and was told you received your $500 deposit. Let me know if that is not the case.
So much to enjoy about the house and all the amenities! Loved being out in the water everyday. Screened in porch was amazing. Lots of space for our group of 12 to spread out! Property Manager Joe was great to work with! Will definitely be back!
My fiance and I chose this property because it could allow our wedding party , friends and their families all to be under the same roof. The hot tub, sauna, fire pit, paddle boat and canoe were all huge bonuses. The tweens/teens of the group thoroughly exhausted themselves on the lake and campfires at night were enjoyed by all. It was a magical wedding weekend for us and we greatly appreciate the space. It made for lasting memories. Joe was super communicative and so friendly. We highly recommend this rental for any 10-14 group wanting quality time of togetherness. Thank you Joe, Dylan and team. It was very worth the rate. Cheers! Katherine and Phil
Easy walking distance to small grocery, ice cream shop, and bait shop. Gas station close by. House had plenty of room for the 7 of us to spread out when needed "me" time. The sun porch was nice to sit in and read. Some dog hair was on the pillows on the couch, but we just put them on the floor. The screen porch was our favorite spot to hang out. My elderly parents had difficulty walking around the property as ground was very uneven, stairs down from screen porch are steep and stairs to dock are uneven and a couple are steep (made out of stone). For physically able people should not be a problem. Our biggest gripe would be the trains. The trains run all night and the whistles for the crossing are difficult to sleep well through. Wildlife around was great to see; eagle, loons, geese families, and even a black bear and her cub strolling through the yard.
We had a tremendous time. The home was very clean and well equipped. Plenty of room for all of us! The owner and manager were very helpful and answered all of our questions. We would definitely stay here again.
The property was as advertised, on the lake, plenty of room for our party of 10 and a very short walk to the town of Stone Lake. The property manager (Joe) was extremely responsive and helpful with the home and his boat which he graciously allowed us to rent. It was a great experience for all and I would highly recommend this property for a relaxing lake vacation.
Four families, kids ranged from 9-16. Room comfortably for all 19 of us. The lake was clear and had a floating dock and water mat for the kids to play on. Fishing was great, caught a mix of bass, pan fish, walleye and a couple of northerns. Walking distance to restaurants, bars, shops, co-op grocery store.
The property had a wonderful screen porch that fit all of us and kitchen had everything we needed. Everything about this property was wonderful with the only exception being the train that runs quite frequently a block away. The train ended up not being a very big deal though, got used to it and it didn’t bother us too much. All of us said we would come back, it was very enjoyable and the owner and manager were awesome to deal with.
Thank you!
Great place. Comfortable. Lake and dock area along with raft are great. Beds are comfortable .
The Dylan, the owner and Joe, the caretaker were friendly and available during our stay. The beds are comfortable. The house is large and well maintained. We were greeted upon our arrival and given a tour of the property. Our extended family of 12 had a great time.
Very good restaurants, winery and taverns nearby. All with great food and drink.
The only downside is the railroad tracks between the house and Stone Lake. Train traffic was on and off throughout the day and night. The trains are required to sound the horn at the pedestrian crossing immediately behind the home regardless of the time. Most of our group got used to the train noise, but some did not. If you are a sound sleeper and don’t mind the train noises, this is a great place.

Perfect house for a larger group
Our crew of 12 had a wonderful time at the lake house over New Years weekend. Everything was very welcoming, house was accommodating, views were spectacular and the ice fishing a lot of fun (despite the negative temps!). Unlike some of the VRBOs that "sleep 12" but only have 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, this place has enough beds and baths for everyone to have their own space and not be on top of one another. Definite plus.
It was nice having bedrooms on the main level with doors leading to the outside, and the fenced in yard was great for the dogs. Everyone in our group raved about how comfortable the beds were, there was plenty of hot water for all of us to shower in the morning, kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook for 3-1/2 days, the trains didn't bother a single person, and both Dylan and the property manager were great with communication.
The only suggestion I would make is to have firewood available for guests. I think someone said we could buy it but it might save on some winter heating costs if we could have had a fire going as much as possible!
All in all A+ and thanks for a great weekend. Hoping to make it up here during the summer as well!

This is our new spot!
Our family had such a great time at the lake house. The owner showed us a few fishing spots that allowed us to have a fish fry for all 20 of us, you can't beat catching your own food! The place was clean and accommodated our large group. See you next year!

3 generations loved staying here
There was a generous amount of room for the 5 young grandkids & 6 adults to romp inside and outside during our stay. We appreciated having bedrooms on the main level as well as upstairs which easily accommodated us, as well as a game room on the main level for the kids to play and color. Our favorite place to hang out was the attached deck and screened in porch; again, perfect for all ages! As previously noted by another reviewer, there isn't much of a beach, but it is sandy, there's a dock to swim to and we were in the water much of each day. There's no shortage of sunnies to catch from the dock, which kept little ones happy. Walking in to town is a breeze; great for groceries, antiques & gifts, freshly scooped ice cream cones, brews and wine (Red Schoolhouse). Yes, the trains are loud and fairly frequent, but none of us had any issues sleeping; in fact, the grandkids were fascinated to walk over and watch the trains. Great roads nearby for biking, many have very little traffic. Dylan was very quick to answer any questions and was at the house to let us in. Thanks Dylan, for the thoughtful welcome gift upon our arrival!

Great lake home for a large family
Beautiful clear lake. Good for swimming, a priority for kids in our family. Sandy beach not in evidence because of high water this year, but nice sandy bottom close in. Fishermen had fun, even right from the dock. Enjoyed kayaking and rented a stand-up paddleboard as well.
House had plenty of sleeping space, well equipped kitchen, nice decks and a screen house we used a lot. Great WIFI signal. Public boat landing adjacent.
The train tracks are very close, and caused sleep interruption for at least one in our party. But the rest of us adjusted, and owner did leave earplugs if we wanted to use them!
Red Schoolhouse Wines is a short walk away, and a fun place to enjoy a glass of wine or a beer. Groceries, good food and ice cream are all within walking distance. Spooner has an awesome bookstore, Northwind Book and Fiber.

About the host

I've been vacationing in the Northwoods since I was born and its my favorite place in the world. It has everything that I enjoy: golfing, fishing, hunting, bars, restaurants, boating, water sports, and winter activities too! If you want to create great memories and traditions, this is the place.
Why they chose this property
I've seen this house from the street for years and its always stood out as a beautiful property. When I visit the Northwoods, I'm able to unplug and relax with the most important people in my life, my family. Of course sometimes you need to work and I'm able to do that if needed. The cabin comes with high-speed internet, what better way to work than on the screened in porch, with the beautiful view of crystal clear Stone Lake. This is my paradise!
What makes this property unique
This is such a great house to get everybody together, its a great spot to bbq and cook for the whole family or just walk down the street for some great local food. Stone Lake is a great for sport fishing, as well as many of other surrounding lakes in the area. If you like to fish as much as I do, you'll love this area.
