About this property

Fully updated home on Seneca Lake Wine Trail

Lawson’s Place overlooks Seneca Lake and is directly on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, in the heart of the Finger Lakes region of New York. The house is surrounded by vineyards in a quiet farming region and located directly next to Glenora Winery and Tin Barn Brewery.

Lawson’s Place sits on 1.3 acres of land right on Route 14 in Dundee, NY, about 10 minutes from Watkins Glen, 15 minutes to Penn Yan, and 30 minutes to Geneva. The home was recently remodeled and comfortably accommodates 8 people with 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and a game room with a futon. There are three TVs with cable and an Xbox One in the game room. We provide towels, washcloths, and bed linens. The kitchen is fully stocked with plates, glass ware, and utensils. We also have a coffee maker, oven, microwave, dishwasher and everything else you would need in a kitchen.

Our most popular amenities is the sunroom overlooking the lake that has a fantastic view of the sunrise over the lake, an outdoor fire pit with Adirondack chairs, a gas grill, a game room with an Xbox One with a dozen games, 3 HDTVs, fast internet, a full kitchen, and tons of space.

Many of the area’s attractions are easily accessible from Lawson’s Place, whether your interests are focused on world-class wine and other craft food and beverage sampling, state parks and the area’s many waterfalls, museums, auto racing, agri-tourism, biking, swimming, boating and hiking, fine dining, and/or live entertainment. Literally there is something for everyone.

While many people love being surrounded by vineyards, they are real producing vineyards and the farmers utilize cannons to scare away birds during harvest time in September and October. It can be a bit jarring when you first hear them, but you forget them pretty quickly. Also, we make use of well water and do not have access to city water. We have a very large water storage system in the basement but if you leave water on, you run the risk of running the well dry.

Beautiful House, Invisible Hosts
The property lived up to the pictures posted with the listing. Only property issue was the deep grass, making us pass on the fire pit given the rainy weather. The hosts were invisible. I did not receive any pre-arrival information (like check in information) & had to make multiple calls to gain access to the property. Same for check out - a couple of lines in the property information binder. I attempted to ask questions pre-arrival & did not receive any response. The property was removed from vrbo so I couldn’t dbl check amenities.

Cleanliness
We don’t believe that the cleaning crew completed the laundry sheets and towels were not ready. One of our folks ended up doing four loads of laundry to get the place ready. Mainly sheets and towels

Beautiful Home, Loud cannons
The home is stunning. The location was perfect. The view was picturesque. The vineyard next door has a sound cannon on the property line (to scare birds from the grapes) and it goes off every 2-3 minutes starting at 6:30am until 7:30pm (I timed it). I don't know if this is all year, but this definitely ruined our moms weekend away where we were all looking forward to sleeping in and napping and resting since this was a getaway from our kids. I was disappointed not to see this on the listing. I would stay here again if I knew when the cannons run (no idea if it's all year or just grape picking season).

Great place!
I had my bachelorette party in the Finger lakes and needed a place to accommodate a large group. This house was perfect! Great location and plenty of space. My only complaint/negative review would be that we did have an issue with the water not working when we got to the property. That said, the host came and got the water running within an hour or so of our arrival and we didn’t have any further issues the rest of the weekend!

We stayed here for the Musselman triathlon. House was wonderful. Beautiful views!
The layout worked well for our group- large kitchen and porch were a bonus. Great access to many vineyards. Hosts were easy to work with. Definitely recommend. Appreciate that they are transparent about the busy road in front. It does get loud.
