The house was much more spacious than I imagined. Plenty of room for the family to spread out for alone time but the living room and dining room were both big enough to gather together comfortably. It was an older house, so it had some charm but also had all the modern appliances. It was just a quick drive to the town of Watkins Glen. where we found a Walmart to go for supplies, several parks to enjoy and plenty of restaurants and wineries to also enjoy.
Although an older home it was clean. Could be better stock, there was not even a knife in the place. Air in most of the bedrooms and only in the kitchen on the main floor. All in all the visit was pleasant!
This is a nice little spot if you're looking to hang out in downtown Watkins Glen, but not stay downtown. Let's be honest, Watkins Glen isn't that big, but this place at least gives you some peace and quiet.
It's conveniently located between the town and the track, so great for a race event.
Samira was very easy to get in touch with. There had been a miscommunication regarding the key, but she called me back within about 5 minutes of her messaging her and we got it cleared up.
The house is clean and there is an ample mount of room. We were actually worried about people having enough places to sleep on (beds/couches), but there was actually more than enough for the 7 of us staying there. Plenty of furniture and rooms for people to hang out in and although we weren't there much, this was nice.
My only criticism is the water pressure in the showers, but being that this is a lake home and not knowing what the plumbing system is, this probably just "is what it is". If you have a large group, you may want to space out showering, but other than that, we really had no complaints and would stay here again in the future.
Interior was in great shape. Newly painted walls, new appliances, great dinning room with big table, comfortable furniture, plenty of pots and pans and dishware. Not enough knives but we made due but was comical and became part of our trip. Also, no mixing bowl but was a decent sized pot that used as a substitute. Fire pit was awesome! Beds not the most comfortable but all 6 of us managed and no one was complaining. Have been some comments as to the view and no, you can't see the lake but the landscape was beautiful none the less. Porch didn't match inside of house as far as new and cleanliness but no big deal for us, just wanted to call it out. I personally thought the exterior had some charm. The look of an old brikc building reminded me of some of the places we stayed at in Italy. But because it's in US/NY, I could see some people complaining about it.
I would call the description of this property as loosely accurate. It is coveniently located, that much is true, however lake views consist of a peak of the lake at most. Enjoying a glass of wine and BBQ while sitting in the private backyard was difficult and unappealling as the Grill was filthy from previous use. Not to mention the grass hadnt been recently mowed for quite some time. The firepit had to be emptied of ash ---at least 10 shovel fulls--with a SNOW shovel.
Walking up to the house was very unwelcoming and univiting. the yard is completely overgrown, landscaping didnt really exist. Upon our arrival, I was stung repeatedly while looking under multiple mats for the door key. We later noticed the mud wasp tunnels on the side of the house--noted as the sun porch--AKA Shed entrance. This unfinished area housed discarded mops, snow shovel, Mats from cars, a rather rough entrance to the rental.
Initially, the interior was an improvement over the exterior. The nicest part of the home were the hardwood floors. Kitchen is functional. Stairwell to second floor is steep! Living room seating is extremely limited and the entire home is decorated with Flea Market Mismatch items. Our first night was spent killing crickets, mosquitos, spiders and lightening bugs. The bedroom window AC units had tissue paper used as insulation around the perimeter--not very effective. One shower curtain had mold-we did find a replacement in the closet.
While I understand this is an older home, it seems more attention to detail and general upkeep and maintenancee is warranted.
This property is impeccably clean, in a great location and roomy! It is a bit short on furnishings which made us think it’s a work in progress. The owners were very friendly and came right over when a circuit tripped and we had some difficulty in the basement. My sister wanted a reading lamp in her bedroom and one was brought right over. If you party is over 4 people you might want to bring some camp chairs as the living room seating is limited to 4. The area has tons of things to do and is absolutely beautiful! Everyone we met was incredibly friendly, we had a really wonderful time. Couple of highlights were sail on the True Love on lake Seneca, cider tasting at Black Diamond Cidery, lunch at The Weinery ( fries are unique and addictive), a stroll around Hoffman’s Creamery (the cheese is amazing, free sample) a chat with the herd keeper at the Alpaca farm. Ice cream flights at Shtayburne Farm Creamery, best I’ve cream I’ve ever had!
Our overall impression of the property was okay. The description that it is a farmhouse is correct. The property was very clean. We were given 2 washcloths for 4 people and we grilled steaks on our last night and there were only 2 steak knives. There were no kitchen towels or kitchen cloths to do dishes. If you take everything that you think you would need, it would be a nice place.

Location is the best thing about this house
The location is the best feature of this house. We arrived to a quarter roll of toilet paper in the bathroom, not even a new one, that was it and there were three of us. Set my daughter up in the upstairs bedroom and went out for a short hike. Came back, room smelled musty. Took a look at window air conditioner and it was covered in mold. Gross! We were also greeted by the cleaning crew when we were leaving - and yes, we were leaving before the checkout time. Weird and made us feel pushed to get going.
The house is very large and accommodated my family of 5 very comfortably. Although it’s an old house, it was incredibly clean and well maintained. It’s located on Ste Rt 14, which is the main road for wineries on the east side of Seneca Lake. Although on a main road, we did not really notice traffic noises. The house is about 5 minutes away from Watkins Glen that has all types of restaurants, grocery stores, and shops. Also take advantage of the Gorge Trail at nearby Watkins Glen State Park. As they say, it’s “gorges” (gorgeous)...literally stunning. Wineries are very nearby (one next door), so the house is extremely convenient if you are looking to spend time wine tasting.
