About this property
Avalon Coastal Retreat Luxury Beach Accommodation on the East Coast of Tasmania
Avalon Coastal Retreat is utterly rare. Accommodation as exquisite inside as nature is beyond. Located on the beautiful and serene East Coast of Tasmania, it’s an oasis of seclusion and quite, looking out over Great Oyster Bay and Freycinet Peninsula. Just on the outskirts of Swansea, we are only a 90 minute drive from Hobart & two hours from Launceston. A perfect destination to explore the Freycinet National Park, only an hour’s drive away. Beautifully presented with every need considered, Avalon Coastal Retreat understands the power of souful luxury and nourishes like no other.
The Avalon Experience
Just below the house is a secluded beach where you can walk, fish, collect shells, swim in the clear crisp waters or hide away with a book. Look out for the white bellied sea eagle that passes every morning. Body boards, wetsuits, kayaks and beach towels are available for use.
At Avalon you will enjoy a self managed stay. We plan for our guests to want for nothing. You can arrive and make use of the gourmet food and beverages provided with no need to leave the comfort of your surroundings, or feel completely welcome to bring your own provisions and make full use of our fully equipped, ‘state of the art’ kitchen, with a fridge, freezer and pantry full of Tasmanian produce and chef, pre-prepared food.
As part of the self-catering experience, the tariff includes gourmet breakfast provisions and chilled sparkling wine – Ninth Island Cuvee. Avalon sleeps six people, with all three bedrooms featuring queen-sized beds designed and handmade in Huon Pine by Stuart Houghton.
Shaine, the manager, is available for any special requests, and if you are enjoying multi-night stays, we offer servicing as regularly as required.
Things to do nearby
Nearby the Freycinet Peninsula contains an enormous range of experiences both active and reflective, all accessible from Avalon. Take an evening wildlife observation tour at Freycinet National Park to meet quolls, wallabies, possums and Tasmanian devils. Simply beachcomb the rugged beaches of the region. Or a wonderful cruise of Wineglass Bay - rated amongst the world's top ten beaches. And to get an entirely different perspective take a scenic flight and take in unparalleled view of the Wineglass Bay, the Hazards and the Freycinet Peninsula.
Turn North to Bicheno, where fairy penguins can be viewed in their own rookery on an evening tour. Charter a boat to fish or dive the Marine Sanctuary at Bicheno or take the ecotour from Triabunna to spot dolphins, whales and seals.
Closer to home enjoy Kate's Berry Farm - famous for jams, ice-cream and coffee or dine at a diverse selection of Swansea restaurants - The Ugly Duck Out, Makepeace, Kabuki Japanese or the The Banc Restaurant.
