Great time was had. Comfy, clean house. Close enough to walk into town. Sitting on the back deck watching the mob of kangaroos come in from the bush was most enjoyable. House was a great spot to return to after hiking up the mountains. The spa was popular. Highly recommed this venue.

Dear Vicki Thank you for your review and for choosing Hemley House. I'm happy that you enjoyed your stay and I'm looking forward to having you again as a guest in my house.
I stayed with my friend and her parents. While we went running in the mountains her parents we able to reach shops and hikes easily with the property being in such a fantastic location. The property was spotless, cosy and very comfortable. The spa was amazing after long runs. All instructions were easy to follow. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property and can’t wait to come back.
We loved our accommodation!!! It is spacious, modern and clean. Large bed with crispy sheets and a warm fire place. Bedding and towels of high quality and let’s not forget the relaxing spa on the deck. Even nature was there to greet us. Kangaroos munching grass in the backyard and a family ducks waddling past. The backdrop is the amazing views of the grampians!! What more can you ask. Credit to the owners and the cleaners, they have done an amazing job with this accomodation. We will be back!
Was just beautiful. Kangaroo at the front door waiting, and lots out the back.

Beautiful backyard cozy home
Love being in Halls Gap and nice to staying a a warm cozy house with everything you need! Well stocked cupboards and perfect location. Would love if the bed was softer, found it a bit hard and a dryer would be really handy. But overall it was perfect. Boys had fun roaming the backyard and the spa was great.

Excellent property
We enjoyed our stay very much. The house is perfectly located, easy to walk to shops and easy access to walking paths. The house was perfect, very clean, very roomy and the views were fantastic - kangaroos, deer, emus, cockatoos, kookaburras out the back every morning and evening. Perfect views of the mountains as well. Relaxing in the spa in the evening was great. The house was well equiped with good quality furnishings and fixtures, beds very comfortable. I will be staying at Hemley House again next time I visit Halls Gap.

Lovely Grampians escape!
We had a lovely few nights at the property. It was the prefect location for us, with just a short stroll from cafes and the supermarket. It was very clean and very nicely presented. And an amazing view! The main living area was really cosy. My only suggestion would be to have some small bar heaters in the bedrooms to take the chill off in those rooms.

Response from VrboOwner on 6 March 2020
Thanks for your feedback Alex, great to read you and your party had a great stay @ Hemley House and enjoy it as we do... Bedrooms do have electric blankets and extra blankets to hold back the cold winters in Halls Gap. I'm not sure heaters are the best option in bedrooms. The property was left clean and tidy and happily welcome you back to stay again.

Uninspiring and very expensive property
We arrived to Halls Gap after a 6 hour drive and struggled to find the property as the google maps reference on the web page doesn't link to anything. The house was freezing when we arrived and it took a good hour for the gas heater and electric heater to warm it up. None of the TVs worked that first night but the bedroom TVs were working by the morning. Unfortunately the family room TV only got SBS so there wasn't too much teenager and parent shared viewing. The 2 larger bedrooms were well equipped with duvets, electric blankets and extra blankets but the bunk room which was the coldest room in the house by far had no electric blankets and no heating. The bathroom was freezing. The house decor is not warm and inviting.
As a veteran house renter, I appreciate basics like tea, coffee, tomato sauce, oil etc that most houses provide for shared use - there was none of that available in this house.
The house was quite clean though there was oil splattered all over the kitchen cupboards.
Unfortunately, the gas ran out on our last day so there was no fire and no hot water which was a very annoying way to end what had been a fabulous week of trekking and eating out in Halls Gap. I did email the owner to advise but never received a response.
Although, I will certainly return to Halls Gap, I certainly wouldn't stay at Hemley House again.

Response from VrboOwner on 6 March 2020
We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay, Bronwyn. We take all feedback very seriously and as a result are currently staying at Hemley House for a week to review the property. Tea and Coffee is usually provided - we apologise if it was not available. Sauce and Oil is something we hadn't considered - thanks for the suggestion. The TV reception in Halls Gap can occasionally be disrupted - all TVs are in good working order currently. We checked the functionality of the google maps reference on both the Stayz website and our independent website (www.hemleyhouse.com) and both are working fine - we are sorry it did not work for you. Unfortunately the nature of gas cylinders is that they run out at some stage. We have four gas cylinders - so we always have two full cylinders available. We have updated our Welcome Book to include detailed instructions incase it is necessary to switch to the spare cylinders. Thank you for your feedback.

About the host
Hosted by Cathy Ormsby
I took over the management of Hemley House in November 2016 and made some significant changes to bring Hemley House up to what it is today, added an extra bathroom, fitted the heated jacuzzi / spa, all new furniture, split systems to master and bunk room and 5 star linen just to name a few of my touches added to the property.
Come and see for yourself why this space is so special, the views from the back deck are magnificent.
Why they chose this property
This property has it all, location, comfort, convenience of all the restaurants close by so no car necessary. This is my ideal home away from home when I am on holiday.
What makes this property unique
I still get overwhelmed by the view from the back of the property, you won't believe the peace and tranquility you find by staring at the Grampians mountain range. Not to mention the visitors to the backyard - kangaroos, deer, emu, ducks, kookaburra's, wrens, frogs, birds
