Wonderful weekend away

My husband and I decided we wanted a little weekend getaway in the mountains. The house was perfect for us. Everything worked as noted in the instructions and Dennis checked in on us the first night to be sure all was good. Highly recommend!

Great house!

We loved our stay in this house It was close to the Ruidoso, Winter Park toob hill and Ski Apache and perfect to relax in after a long day of skiing. Wildlife all around! Only issue was a problem with the Wifi. Everything else was great!

Cozy cabin but dusty and lacking a few essentials

Cabin photos were accurate but as soon as I stepped in my dust allergies were triggered. Dust cacked on all fans and decor on walls and upper shelves. Description stated complimentary toiletries but shower soap and shampoo not provided. Suggest to bring your own cooking spray and tin foil as pans were scrapped up due to everything sticking. Dishwasher ruined 3 of our travel mugs due to horrible dishwasher residue perhaps from hard water or dishwasher soap provided. Master shower water never really got hot to enjoy upgraded shower head. Overall, neighborhood very quite and cabin was cozy and spacious for my family.

Hi Julie, we hope you enjoyed your stay at this beautiful property overall! We passed your feedback onto the homeowner, who asked us to share the following: - I was surprised by your feedback, as we go to great lengths to make our house clean and dust-free. Furnace filters are changed very frequently, and in between renters, 20" HEPAs filters are run. - We do provide basic toiletries such as paper products and soaps, but not shampoo and conditioner. - I've never had any issues with the dishwasher before, nor have other guests. We do leave instructions for using it and ask that guests follow them. - I apologize for the hot water. As I explained when you called, the cleaners accidentally left the thermostat lowered. I was under the impression that you had been able to fix it with my instruction. I'm glad that you found the cabin cozy and hope you had a great time in Ruidoso.

Disappointed

Cabin lists a/c but failed to mention only for downstairs. Upstairs has no vents to get a/c up there. Upstairs bedroom has 2 1”x2”’s to hold open windows. Luckily October nights are cool so that allowed in the cool night air unfortunately it also lets in all the allergens. Has TV advertised on amenities but fails to mention only for dvd. There is no station access. Also, read the fine print at bottom of listing. The security camera for YOUR protection watches your every move. Porch and grill are nice, but they can sit and watch every move you make. No iron or ironing board. House had four mix match glasses and limited other household items. At least that YOU have access to. House also doesn’t list washer/drawer but actually has one. The reason they don’t list, there’s a note on it that tells you not to use, that is for owner use only. And that pretty much describes the feeling of this rental, they want your rental fee but they really don’t want you.

Hi Darrell, we want all of our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we're sorry that you experienced some issues during your trip. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following: The home does have central HVAC. In the Fall, the owners remove the aux units from the loft area since the temperatures cool down. They wish you would have reached out with these concerns while in residence, so we could've had the opportunity to make things right - the onsite manager would have been happy to help connect the TV to the internet. Our property description clearly states that the home features exterior security cameras around the perimeter, facing out for the safety of the travelers and property. The property description intentionally does not list a washer and dryer due to those amenities not being available for guest use. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review!

Great house hard bed!

The property was great for our family. Quiet area, great house setup, and a little wildlife to watch. I gave it 4 stars because the bed in the master bedroom is a memory foam mattress that is extra extra firm. It is literally like sleeping on a rock. The kitchen does not have a colander, so if you plan on cooking pasta, bring your own.

Quiet family retreat

The cabin is tucked away on a quiet, minimally traveled, gravel road & borders a national forest. Deer would visit outside the kitchen windows in the morning. The inside living space is very cozy & comfortable. The kitchen was advertised as a “fully-equipped”. However, for a family that cooks meals daily at home it lacked measuring spoons, large boiling pot, sharpened kitchen knives, and a third trash bag. Overall, the kitchen was spacious & had excellent outside access for loading & unloading a car. We would recommend this cabin to families looking for quiet, quality time together.

Relaxing stay

We (four adults) enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The views were great. Walking on the road gave us additional sights to see. In the cool mornings, we liked sitting in the deck area. The hammock and swing were an added pleasure while watching the hummingbirds come for a drink from the feeder. The cabin furniture and beds were comfortable. The kitchen was furnished with just what we needed to fix meals, etc. We were blessed several times with wild brown horses coming by the cabin for a visit. The guest contact was helpful and friendly.

Awesome Experience!

Everything was just as advertised and our visit was wonderful. The house was comfortable, clean and well equipped. The front porch is lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed the hammock and swing. We loved backing up to the national forest and enjoyed many deer and elk in our yard and wild horses in the neighborhood. Although you have neighbors to each side, you are totally unaware of them because of the trees. Sitting on the front porch, you only see nature…beautiful large, moss covered rocks and pine trees. Very peaceful! Close to town and generally a fabulous choice for our family who enjoys short visits to town and lots of time on the porch. We will be back for sure!

Peaceful

Very pleasant experience. Saw deer in the yard every day. Wild horses roamed the neighborhood. Quiet neighbors. Hammock was my favorite spot to read. Hosts left a bottle of champagne for our 5th wedding Anniversary which was a thoughtful touch. We will be back.

Hidden gem

Truth be told, I wish I could keep this hidden gem a secret. This beautiful place feels like a cabin and yet you have the comforts of a home away from home. The photos on the website are true to what you should expect. It is clean and organized with all the amenities you need with some extras such as internet, Netflix, dvds and board games. We had excellent communication with the owner, he was readily accessible for whatever questions I had. They have a list of suggestions of places to eat and points of interest. It is a short drive to mid town, unfortunately for us with the COVID-19 situation we were limited with what we could do and visit. I highly recommend this location for a serene getaway. you will not be disappointed.

Nice Place To Stay

Overall a very pleasant stay. Only a couple of things that weren’t up to par. First, the thermostat was all over the place, we couldn’t get it to maintain a comfortable temperature. Although firewood was provided, the logs were so big and my experience is that logs that big don’t burn well. These logs need to be split. We wound up buying firewood in town.

Great Alto Cabin

Great cabin! Was a great place for a quick weekend getaway in Ruidoso! We enjoyed our stay. Cabin was very clean. Neighbors nearby but still had plenty of privacy with all the trees. Saw deer and humming birds in the morning. Well stocked kitchen. AC worked great. Very firm beds.

Great getaway spot

The cabin location was perfect for hiking as it is next to Lincoln Natl Forest, away from the "hustle and bustle" of downtown Ruidoso but close enough , 10 minute drive, to restaurants, grocery store and other places. The cabin was quiet, comfortable and well equipped, friendly neighbors as well. And last but not least, Dennis, the property manager was friendly and attentive, thank you for a great stay.

Perfect Getaway

My family stayed here and it was everything we anticipated and more. We pulled up in the driveway and immediately saw deer in the backyard. We were able to put some corn in the feeders and every morning and evening they would come by and snack. The yard backs up to the open mountains and makes for a great hike and area to explore. Alto Lake Is just minutes away for fishing with a hiking trail nearby. Ruidoso is a short drive with plenty of little restaurants and shops. The cabin was the perfect size for my family of four. We have two boys, ages 7 and 9. They especially enjoyed taking turns on the hammock in the front yard. Everything was clean and well kept upon arrival. We would definitely stay here again.

Location was perfect

I enjoyed the stay here because I was not too far from town yet I was not too close we’re all the noise and tourist were in Ruidoso. Even though everything was closed down except the shops and restaurants which had outdoor seating there was plenty of hiking trails to go on to get away from all of the tourist.

NIce house in a nice area

We had a great stay. The house feels secluded, and the sundeck and hammock were great for hanging out outside. As mentioned in other reviews, there was no internet at all, but that was fine for us. For those with young kids, the upstairs balcony columns are spaced wide enough for kids to fall through.
