Set at the end of the beautiful and iconic King George V Memorial Avenue of English Oaks you will find this wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. The accommodation is a large self-contained cabin with all the mod cons to make your stay comfortable. It is located 2.0 kms from the CBD and is set in the grounds of a country home surrounded by green lucerne fields and huge shade trees. The garden is a sanctuary for wildlife. The road is a dead end so there are only a few cars belonging to the residents. If you need to get away from it all and connect with nature whilst only a stones throw from Tamworth city then this is the place. The cabin has a queen sized bed which will sleep a couple or a single. As it is a wildlife sanctuary and we have our own pets (which we are happy to share) we unfortunately must say no to pets coming to stay.

We loved the rural setting with plenty of Birdlife and the resident horse. We walked around the property with lush gardens down to the Peel river. Close to all amenities, shops, cafes and museums.
Close to town, private, shady, large flat area for camping with access to clean water and BBQ provided. Extra shower and toilet also available. Beautiful shady trees with access to Peel River.
We had a five (5) night stay at the cabin provided by David & Chris. It was Great, - Very Clean, Comfortable & Quiet. Have no hesitation in recommending this to everyone & when we are in Tamworth again, we will be staying here -
if it is available

5 minute drive out of Tamworth on tar road, quiet location, cabin had everything anyone could want - great bed, shower, full kitchen, verandah, lots of trees & lovely garden to enjoy. Avenue of 85 year old oak trees on either side of road on way there was lovely. Would definitely stay there again.
Royal Oaks was the perfect place to stay for us. After busy family time it was so nice to return to the quietness of Royal Oaks. Uber transport was fast and efficient. We had everything to cook in if needed. We felt very safe and comfortable.
David and Christine were such lovely hosts and made us feel so welcome and at home! Such a beautiful and serene property ! Our favourite part was waking up each morning to be greeted by all their beautiful animals, especially Quasi and Amy. I can’t wait for the next adventure here! Thank you to the most wonderful hosts!
If you want to stay in a place close to town yet in the country this is a good choice to make. David and Christine were very friendly and helpful. The large open plan accommodation was comfortable and had everything we needed. A friendly bird tapped on the kitchen window each morning and there were lovely cockatoos in the garden. We are in our 80’s and have travelled a great deal and can thoroughly recommend this as a place to stay.
A cosy little place away from the hustle and bustle of city life. My wife and I enjoyed a couple of days staying in the quiet and comfortable retreat. Great communication prior to arrival, with Chris making sure things were perfect for our stay. Whilst being close to the city centre, you very quickly lose that perception and transition quickly to a country outlook. Loved it!!
Practical and Pretty. Comfortable and Comforting.
A great, peaceful location not too far from the township. All facilities that you could need. We much enjoyed out stay. Thanks for making your property available.

Fabulous set up. Hosts have thought of everything... you know the little stuff like hooks to hang clothes on in bath room. Shelves to put toiletries bag on. Basic kitchen cooking supplies. Very comfortable and very quiet location close to town. Highly recommend.
Really is a home away from home
Very quiet, lovely property to walk around. Chris and David are fantastic hosts. Close to town

About the host
Hosted by David and Christine McKinnon
My husband and I live and work in Tamworth. We are avid animal lovers and spend our free time rescuing and rehabbing wildlife (mainly birds). We also own a dog, cat, horses, chooks and an array of wild birds will be present at various stages of raising and release.
Why they chose this property
It is so close to town yet has acres for my horses and is so quiet being on a dead end road. It is any easy walk or bike ride into town being flat. We are surrounded by lucerne fields which means the outlook is green and lush. The house and cabin are surrounded by large old trees so we have shade +++ in summer. Just a gorgeous place to de-stress after a busy day at work. At the bottom of the property is the Peel River - perfect for cooling off in summer!
What makes this property unique
Peace and quiet and getting back to nature after the city
