Jacarandas Cottage is a beautifully restored 1920s cottage situated in the delightful Bickley Valley on Piesse Brook, just 20 minutes from the domestic and international airports and 30 minutes from Perth CBD. Sit back and relax next to the cosy fireplace or outside under the 100 year old palm trees and watch the farm animals in the paddocks.

Jacarandas is completely self contained, just bring your own food or enjoy the many local restaurants in historic Kalamunda Village. There is much on offer in the area with the cottage being situated on the Bickley Valley Wine trail, cycle route and near to the Bibbulmun Track, national parks, world class mountain biking, camel riding, restaurants and lots of clean hills air!

This was our third stay here at Jacaranda Cottage, and it did not disappoint. My only complaint is that (judging from the visitors' book) it seems there are many others who consider it to be 'their special place'. We absolutely love it here and will return again. Thank you so much!

Simply lovely.

The cottage size was perfect for our needs, the beds, pillows (soft but substantial) and couches comfy, the host was responsive to a request for firewood and the quality and thoughtfulness of the extra touches (candles, flowers in bathroom, basic food supplies) was wonderful and appreciated. The cottage is tastefully and elegantly furnished, and there was enough information supplied to be helpful when checking in and for your stay. Overall, there was nothing to fault!

Beautiful peaceful well located property

This was our second visit to this property and it was as amazing as the first time. Our hosts couldn’t have been more helpful! And the location in the Bickley valley is perfect to access walks, winery’s and great restaurants.

Absolutely beautiful cottage in a gorgeous peaceful location that makes you feel immediately rested! From electric blankets, wood fire, woolen throws to every appliance and kitchen utensil you could ask for, this cottage has it all 👍We will definitely be back first opportunity we get.

Week away for ONE...you need it and deserve it.. The Absolutely Perfect place!

So many people cater for the 'large crowds'... but, what if there is just one of you? Solo, single or just taking individual R&R, sometimes it's hard to find somewhere you feel safe and comfortable to just rest. That is exactly what jacarandas cottage in Bickley offers. Now, please note: they absolutely cater to couples and families as well, but it's to the Solo traveler I want to address as I can only speak of my experience. I actually stumbled onto Jacaranda cottage 3 years ago, and I am sooooooo happy I did. I was in desperate need of a break, but was too exhausted to bother with flying or looking for holiday plans abroad, so I thought I would look local. The hills are a BEAUTIFUL location to enjoy food, wine, general nature beauty, hiking, sight seeing, or just sitting in front of a relaxing fire. Jacarandas cottage, is Beautiful old world style but still with all the modern comforts (air-con, Wi-Fi, TV etc) Susanne and her husband's attention to detail is beautiful, this being in the lovingly restored cottage itself, to simple things such as having an umbrella ready and waiting on my arrival. It rained most of my week there, but you know what... It did not matter. I soaked in the beautiful freestanding bath tub, I drank wine, I watched movies, I sat in front of the fire, I went to Mundaring Weir, I checked out Kalamunda, I practiced taking photos (learner) and I sat on my verandah and watched the rain... I rested and relaxed! It was perfect! The cottage is near main house, but far enough away for privacy (has own entrance etc)... I was in my own space and world (surrounded by our beautiful hills/horses/greenery).... But... I felt safe and secure even though I was Solo.... I will be back... It is purely and simply my go to rest and recovery place and thoroughly recommend to one and all (by especially to the solo lady travelers out there)

The cottage is absolutely beautiful and so much care is taken to ensure it is super clean and welcoming. The environment and surrounds are calming and serene. And it's an absolute bonus to be able to walk across the paddock to have a coffee from the coffee van on a Sunday morning.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming cottage. The bed was very comfortable, and we were delighted to find generous breakfast provisions waiting for us—fresh eggs, bread, fruit, avocado, cheeky chocolate, milk in the fridge, and even some ice cream! The views of horses and alpacas in the surrounding paddocks were beautiful, and the private access gave a real sense of seclusion (the main house is only just visible in the distance).The wide verandahs offered lovely outdoor seating, while inside we enjoyed the cosy lounge and the wood provided for the fireplace—perfect for a relaxing evening. The gorgeous ensuite was another highlight, with a big clawfoot bathtub, bath salts, and a candle for a truly indulgent soak.A perfect country retreat close to Perth, with bushwalks, wineries, and the observatory nearby—highly recommended!
