Paynesville's Cafe's and Shops.

GUESTS who love to EXPLORE the LAKES, FISH, CYCLE & PHOTOGRAPH BIRD-LIFE will be able to get local knowledge about the area from your RESIDENT HOSTS.

This is a special part of the Gippsland Lakes, as Eagle Point is on the edge of an OLD GROWTH FOREST with red gums hundreds of years old (some featuring "Aboriginal Canoe" trees).
KOALA COLONY & Koala Trail: accessible by a very short ferry ride from Paynesville
LOCAL WETLANDS: abundance of bird life, natural fauna park, LOTS of BIKE & WALKING TRACKS.
WATERFRONT CAFES: BANK, SUPERMARKETS, GIFT SHOPS in Paynesville.
AND: Wine and Food Trails, Buchan Caves, the Ninety Mile Ocean beach, and the ski fields of Mt Hotham are only 2 hours away.

Friendly responsive hosts. Lovely loft room which was very clean and breakfast museli and cereal, milk all included. Charming water views especially with a full moon over the lake. The bathroom was spacious downstairs, via the outside steps, with good lighting and not an issue for us though might be more of a nuisance during the winter depending on the weather.

Lake view and comfort

Rose and Rob are excellent hosts and I enjoyed my stay very much. They have ensured the accommodation is very comfortable, clean and everything you need is provided. The view across Lake King is lovely and sitting looking out across the water was a great way to relax and get into holiday mode.

Review of Eagle Point Property

- OK space but no toilet or shower inside the property which impacted comfort levels and created a risk to safety, in particular at night and also when you have bad weather (you needed to go down two flights of external stairs to get to the bathroom), plus there wasn’t sufficient lighting to guide you down and up the stairs, which imposed a trip hazard. - There was no official welcome from the owner who lives on the same block / property. - Bread was advertised as included on the brochure but it wasn’t. We had to call to clarify and then property owner admitted to the error and we received a few slices post discussion. We also read that bread was actually included and highlighted from the notes that past guests had written in the ‘guest book’ where they thanked the owner for the bread. This was disappointing to experience. - Eagle Point was uneventful, nothing there. Not even a cafe or shops for basic supplies. You definitely need a car to get to other parts of Gippsland Lakes, for a better experience. - At check out we were asked to leave the kitchen “tidy” as we found it even though we paid a cleaning fee upfront. When we queried why this wasn’t part of the cleaning fee the property owner then accepted to clean the kitchen. This was also very disappointing. On a positive note the property had facilities for basic cooking, an electric bbq, a comfortable bed and a nice view of the lake.

After 18 years of hosting some wonderful guests and having received excellent reviews, we would not recommend this couple. The guests were well aware that the bathroom was down external stairs and that I would welcome them the following day as they arrived late. Eagle Point is a small village on the edge of the beautiful Lake King with 2 Caravan Park shops that supply essentials. A welcome supply of: Cereal, muesli, teas, plunger coffee, sugar, olive oil and salt and pepper are included in your tariff. Lighting to bathroom downstairs includes: light at top of stairs, fairy lights on top railings, sensor light at bottom of stairs and bathroom light. In our Welcome Letter we ask all our guests to leave the kitchen clean and the loft tidy and 99.9% of our guests happily oblige.

Just so perfect

A place of tranquillity

A quiet cosy space to sit back and take in beautiful views from the loft. Our hosts Rose and Rob made us very welcome providing some lovely provisions to enjoy. There is also plenty to do for lovers of nature and good food. So glad we discovered this hidden gem!
