excellent accommodation
This pet friendly accommodation was excellent and presents exactly as shown on the website. Our small dog was allowed inside which we really appreciated. The house was surprisingly large with plenty of room to relax and everything you could need or wish for was provided. The back yard was huge and well kept. Wendy and Daniel are very nice friendly people to deal with and booking was simple and straightforward. We would choose this accommodation again and we are happy to recommend it without hesitation.

This home had such a lovely vibe; comfortable and clean and had everything we needed.
Thank you to Danny for offering his beautiful home to our family. The home was extremely clean and had everything we could have wanted including perfect accessibility for our hairy family members! An extra bonus is that you would not have known a dog had ever been in the yard or home as it was exceptionally clean, except for the few toys and water bowls which were much appreciated. The home felt like it was ours and had such a lovely relaxed vibe. Thanks also for the great breakfast provisions. We will definitely stay again. Great value for money also. Thanks Danny.

Just perfect..
We arrived to a most wonderfully clean and big house. Displayed on the table a lovely note from attentive and friendly hosts Danny and Wendy welcoming us with ideas where to walk our dogs, brochures and lovely, yummy gifts. Breakfast supplies were very appreciated the next morning when we cooked up a storm before heading out to discover the liittle gem of Paynesville. The beds were so comfy and the pillows perfect for me. Our two dogs loved the size of the backyard and all its smells. Would definitely recommend booking Gippsland Lakes Retreat you won't be disappointed A++++

Thanks Joy and Ellie, Melanie and Freckles. It was lovely having you. Paynesville is great for its' great scenery, its easy walks, boating, bike riding, kayaking and eateries. Walk to the ferry with your dogs and hop on board for free. The ferry takes you straight across to the koala spotting trail. Raymond Island is great for just a wander, looking at some of the older and newer houses and the Straits between Raymond Island and Paynesville. Back at Paynesville, walk along the jetties to see all the different boats for relaxation and fun, or take a walk along the foreshore to Sunset Cove and beyond. The walk to Eagle Point which takes about two hours return, is beautiful along Lake King. Dogs are welcome on all these tracks.

Well all I can say is . . . DIVINE!
This property is superb!
When I arrived and opened the back gate, I was immediately impressed. The backyard is beautifully kept, quite secure and very large. The house is only a short walk from the shops, a reserve and the water (marina).
The bedrooms are sunny and spacious and there is a generous sun room at the back of the house. There are also a couple of big trees that provide lovely shade where you and your dog(s) can sit and relax after going on big walks. It is just the perfect place for dog owners and their fur babies.
Paynesville is quiet but it has everything - restaurants, a wine bar, grocery stores, a pub, lots of friendly people and plenty more that I'm sure I'll find on my next visit.
The owners are an absolute delight and could not have been more helpful.
I've already booked my next stay and I can't wait.

Response from VrboOwner on 27 March 2020
We were delighted to welcome an artist of such talent to Gippsland Lakes Retreat. Miss Brigid and her Mixed Nuts performance was a highlight at the Paynesville Music Festival on the weekend. We are so pleased that our retreat lived up to expectations and look forward to your return. Danny and Wendy
The property is perfectly suited to those visiting Paynesville with their dogs - a wonderful large back yard, fully secured with the lowest fencing spot being approx. 4ft tall at the carport gates. The rest of the yard is fenced highly, and has a bed of lush green grass that you just don't see in Melbourne this time of year - our greyhounds loved it!
The house is certainly "older" in style, but it was presently beautifully - it was warm and welcoming, and was spotless when we arrived. The bed was comfortable, and the air conditioner in the front bedroom helped assure a comfortable nights sleep.
The location is excellent, an easy 5 minute stroll to the IGA to get food to cook for ourselves, and we were at the ferry to Raymond Island in less than 10 minutes - including detours for the dogs to investigate the swan and mark their territory on every lightpole and sign post they could find!
This was a lovely house in a lovely spot, at a lovely time of year to visit.

Dear Michael,
Thank you, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. The rain has come after the devastating bushfires in East Gippsland, and the grass is growing quickly. Gippsland Lakes Retreat is well located. The weather is beautiful. Spring brought a new lot of baby wildlife, including the swans and ducks near Progress Jetty. Markets are on twice a month and the Music Festival is coming up at the last weekend in February. Warm Regards. Danny
We stopped here for 3 nights. Great house, dog friendly and a very well stocked pantry complete with bacon and eggs. Good location to explore Paynesville and Raymond Island.
We had a wonderful stay in Paynesville! Paynesville itself is delightful but what was even more delightful was the very warm welcome we received from Danny and Wendy, our hosts at Gippsland Lakes Retreat.
Gippsland Lakes Retreat was a great place to stay – so comfortable and really easy to live there. The bedroom we used was light and airy – and the bed was very comfortable. Lovely views of the garden and we woke to birdsong every morning. (Lots of bird visitors) The kitchen was very practical and the bathroom was a lovely Wet Room with plenty of space and every need catered for (shampoo, soap, towels etc – even a razor if you had forgotten yours!). The lounge was a comfortable space to watch the enormous TV but the best room for us was the Sun Room at the back. Such a lovely light and airy spot to sit when the wind was a bit fresh.
The garden was lovely – and a great size and very secure for dogs.
We wouldn’t hesitate to go back to Gippsland Lakes Retreat. It was clean, comfortable and as I said before, our hosts were so welcoming of us and our well behaved terriers.
Wendy and Danny gave helpful suggestions of where to go and what to do in texts and in information provided at the property. We enjoyed the “Welcome Gifts” as well – chocolates, wine, breakfast supplies to name just a few.(Even food for our four legged family members!). There were lots of nice touches – games (indoor and outdoor), magazines, DVDs to watch. Our hosts thought of everything!
Gippsland Lakes Retreat was a great find – thank you, Wendy and Danny!.

Thank you. Paynesville and surrounds are full of great places to see. The wildlife is fantastic at this time of the year. The swans have their babies, fish are in the lakes, dolphins, bird life and beautiful flora everywhere. Fantastic long and short walks, a busy esplanade and a great place to visit the area from. Koala count late in the week on Raymond Island also. Glad we helped you feel welcome, looking forward to you coming again. Warm Regards Danny
A very comfortable and well appointed house in a excellent location. The owners welcome package was incredibly generous and check in itself was a breeze as communication by the owners was excellent.
The house was very clean and inviting with a huge backyard for our dog.

Very clean, well presented, easy to access, handy to everything.
This is a fantastic holiday stay. The hosts, Danny and Wendy, provide everything from chocolates and champagne on arrival to every home appliance imaginable. You are kept up to date with local traffic conditions as well as places to see. We were offered a late checkout (4.00pm) because of the bad weather over our stay. The house is very clean, the beds comfortable and a well stocked refrigerator - milk, eggs, margerine, bacon and access to anything in the pantry. We had 5 adults and two children staying and all were most satisfied with the property.

It was lovely to have you and your family to stay. Family is quite important to us and making you feel welcome is something we enjoy doing. We like to present our house well and think about the things we would like. All the bed linen is cleaned after each visit and made up fresh for our guests. Traffic conditions are changing daily. We have such a wonderful area for people to enjoy and after the much needed rain for our farmers over the weekend, the weather is beautiful again. Look forward to seeing you again.

What a find. We stayed here as a base for the recent overnight yacht race. Plenty of room, Well set out. Very clean and well maintained. Close to restaurants, hotel, shops and launching ramps. Good off street parking and the road in front can safely handle a 4x4 with a large trailer. The back yard is grandchild escape proof. Our hosts, Wendy and Danny, went over the top to make sure we were as comfortable as possible. The kitchen is well stocked with a breakfast feast provided.
