Ocean View overlooking Vivonne Bay - minutes' walk to beach

Ocean View on the south coast of Kangaroo Island is in a magnificent setting overlooking beautiful Vivonne Bay with the acclaimed beach just a couple of minutes walk away. Our modern and spacious holiday house offers self-catering accommodation with three bedrooms furnished with two queen beds and four bunk beds.

The fully equipped kitchen includes new Miele appliances (ceramic cooktop, fan-forced oven & ducted rangehood), microwave oven, a large capacity fridge/freezer and a Breville espresso machine with ground coffee supplied. Other appliances include an electric frypan and rice cooker.

Free WiFi is included, taking advantage of broadband wireless Internet available in Vivonne Bay, along with a 55” smart TV with Foxtel. Also a Bluetooth player which provides smartphone connectivity for filling the house with your favourite music.

The open-plan living area features an 8-seat acacia dining table with panoramic window views towards Vivonne Bay and Point Ellen. Also a luxurious new L-shape lounge and coffee table. Cypress pine flooring is installed throughout.

Our three bedrooms provide options for one or two couples or a large family with kids (or adults) in the bunkroom. An infant cot can be set up on request along with a highchair.

The house is comfortable year-round with ducted reverse cycle air-conditioning together with an overhead fan in the living area. Dual control electric blankets are fitted to the queen beds along with MiniJumbuk wool quilts for cosy winter nights. Extra pillows and blankets are available. A pedestal fan, ironing board & clothes airer are kept in the bunkroom.

The outside deck faces the Southern Ocean with stunning 180 degree views towards Nobby Islet and Cape Gantheaume, sweeping around to Point Ellen and the Vivonne Bay jetty [illuminated at night]. The deck is equipped with a table setting and a versatile 3-burner gas BBQ. A great spot to enjoy morning coffee and alfresco meals. And waves crashing against Point Ellen along with gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. The deck also offers startling views of the night sky and Milky Way stretching overhead.

The house is set on the edge of coastal reserve amidst lush native vegetation bordering the beach with no intervening properties. Local wildlife abounds with Tammar wallabies being frequent visitors below the deck. Various species of birds flit about including honeyeaters, superb fairywrens, silvereyes and endearing little striated pardalotes. We have fitted nests for pardalotes and for gorgeous crimson rosellas.

Ocean View is perfectly located to enjoy the attractions offered by Vivonne Bay including walks along the pristine beach, swimming, surfing and fishing from the beach, jetty or nearby Harriet River. We are also centrally located relative to Kangaroo Island’s major tourist attractions, with Raptor Domain and Seal Bay lying to the east and Kelly Hill Caves, Admirals Arch, Remarkable Rocks and Flinders Chase National Park to the west. KI Wildlife Park, Stokes Bay and Hidden Beach lie to the north.

Local facilities include the Vivonne Bay General Store, jetty and boat ramp. Mobile phone coverage is provided by Optus and Telstra, noting the Telstra signal is weak in Vivonne Bay.

Ocean View is an easy ~70 minute drive from the ferry terminal at Penneshaw and 40 minutes from Kingscote Airport.

We welcome you to Ocean View which we opened for guest accommodation in December 2017. Lying in bed at night and being lulled to sleep by the sound of breaking waves is an experience to be remembered.
