Great property. Dean was superfriendly and gave us a wonderful introduction/welcome. Will definitely stay there again when we visit Coober Pedy in future.
We loved our stay at Coober Pedy. It was great to experience what it was like to stay in a dugout. Dean was super helpful on the local sites and overall Cooper Pedy information. The dugout was clean & spacious.

Dean’s the man!! Awesome place, everything you need and Dean was extremely helpful with providing info, could even be a tour guide!!! Cheers Dean!
-Very roomy ... four men lived comfortably for over five weeks with no problems.
-Location is good ... very close to town and the Stewart Highway. Far enough to be very peaceful and quiet yet only a few minutes away from anything. Special note: the view of the valley and the stars was impressive!
-Dean, the owner, keeps the property bright and green. I was all over Coober Pedy and Dean's place was the greenest in the area with lots of plants that he regularly cares for. The front entry was is a very nice and cool place to relax because of all the plants he has growing there.
-Facility very clean, neat and orderly. Dean, cleaned up regularly and made sure we always had clean sheets on the beds and plenty of clean towels. He also kept us well-stocked with coffee! All of this was not an easy task keeping up with the four of us!
-Dean is also an opal miner and freely shared many interesting stories. He also taught a few of us how to find opals and directed us to areas rarely traveled by tourist. He even provided some small tools to help collect opals. One of us harvested quite a few opals and cool looking specimens all were "potch" and not worth anything, but he had plenty of fun doing it!
-Dean also provided an excellent history of Coober Pedy and where to go and where not to go, who to trust and those we should not trust. He was spot-on with everything.
-All in all, the "Hidden Gem" was an interesting once-in-a-lifetime experience in itself ...
Our stay was fantastic we enjoy every minute from the moment we have been welcome by Dean (very lovely man).
The location - you couldn't ask for better, you did watch sunset from the property having glass of wine you couldn't ask for any more.
Eva/Dean, thanks for your hospitality we will be back.
The Underground Gem is well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Plenty of room and is located away from the main township. The host was very informative and helpful.

Was not in town, so very quiet. Very clean with good amenities. Dean was very easy to communicate with.
We had the most amazing time in this house. The house was spotless and all the amenities we needed for a comfy stay. Dean, the manager, was a wonderful host - full of advice and very friendly. But the most amazing part of the house is Dean's beautiful garden. After a big day with three kids in the dirt returning to this oasis under the verandah was perfect. We strongly recommend this house to anyone looking for a safe, clean and lovely place in Coober Pedy.
Stayed for two nights and couldn't have wished for a better place than the "Gem".
Friendly & helpful.
Great location living amongst the locals.
Safe.
Tidy and spaceful home.
I'd recommend for anyone wishing to visit Coober Pedy to stay here!
I don't often write reviews, but this outstanding accommodation definitely warrants it! Located a peaceful distance from the main street, the HUGE underground apartment is beautifully appointed and absolutely spotlessly clean. And my 8yo and 10yo LOVED it! Dean, the manager, was very warm and welcoming, and provided us with some great advice about where to go in Coober Pedy. Eva the host is delightful and incredibly helpful. It is such a beautiful and relaxing space to come home to after exploring the hot and dusty CP. I really can't speak highly enough of it. Book it now, if it's available. If it's not, change your travel dates!
Absolutely loved our stay at the ‘underground Gem’. Dean was very clear on how to preserve our warmth and made sure we were comfortable. Our dogs were so relaxed. Highly recommend the underground gem.
Friendly welcome; fun & interesting place to stay.

Great alternative to Hotel accommodation.
Really enjoyed this place. A little out of the way but felt very safe and only a short drive from town. Much more comfortable then a small hotel room and our host Luki was more than happy to share some local insight and tips that made our short trip very enjoyable. In fact my son following Luki’s Advice now has a small handful of opals secured from just outside the house. Also free access to fast wifi.

The place to stay in Coober Pedy!
We stayed overnight on our way up to the NT and wish we could have stayed longer! Was a beautiful, clean and spacious spot with everything you need and more. Very impressive!! Will definitely stay again next time we are in Coober Pedy and have already recommended to anyone we've talked to since who's heading that way. Had a fantastic time.

Great place to stay and pet friendly
Why would you stay in a small hotel room when for the same price you get a huge underground hut.
Great place to stay, we even had our kelpie puppy with us and she loved it.
Nice sunset walk with great views over looking Coober Pedy. Close to town.
Owners are friendly and very welcoming.
Will definitely stay again next time we travel through.
