About this property

Bike, hike Dupont Forest in minutes New, rustic cabin near Brevard,Pisgah Forest

Located just minutes from Dupont State Forest on Stone's Lake Road in Cedar Mountain, NC, we offer a new but rustic mountain getaway. The cabin is situated on a no outlet road, not in a subdivision, so it's quiet and private.
You can explore over 10,000 acres of Dupont State Forest, an international mountain biking destination, featuring 4 major waterfalls (Hunger Games was filmed here) and 82 miles of trails, either by hiking, biking or horseback riding. Mountain bikers, you can bike to trail heads. Close by is the wedding destination, "Pretty Place" (Symmes Chapel) at YMCA Camp Greenville, and historic Faith Memorial Chapel. Enjoy fly fishing in Dupont Forest or on the Davidson River, golfing at Sherwood Forest on a Par 3, 18 hole golf course, or exploring nearby Brevard, Pisgah National Forest (more trails and waterfalls, including famous Sliding Rock), Hendersonville, Asheville or access the Blue Ridge Parkway. Also close by is Caesar's Head State Park and Raven Cliff Falls. Consider dropping your kids at camp and enjoying relaxing here. Or choose to just escape the city life and unwind. You can listen to the songs of the woods, rock away while enjoying a cool beverage, doze in the hammock or nap in the porch swing bed on the 800 square foot wraparound covered porch. Even if rain is in the forecast, embrace it! Listening to rain on the metal roof is a calming, stress reducer! Read a book, have S'mores at the fire pit or star gaze at night. On a chilly night imagine yourself enjoying a cozy fire in the wood burning fireplace or choose to "just breathe" the clean, cool mountain air. Quaint Brevard, just 15 minutes away, offers restaurants, shops and several popular craft breweries, including Oskar Blues, Ecusta Brewery and Brevard Brewing Company. Oskar Blues REEB Ranch is 10 minutes away. Sierra Nevada Brewing company and restaurant is 40 minutes away just before the Asheville Airport. Located just 1/2 mile away is The Cedar Mountain Cafe offering breakfast and lunch and Thursdays through Saturday offering dinner. Their breakfast was awarded "Best Breakfast in Western NC". (closed on Tuesday). The Canteen Beer Garden featuring craft beer, soda & ice cream, is within walking distance just 1/2 mile away. Tin Roof Pizza food truck is on site several evenings of the week. On Saturday evenings, weather permitting, Creekside Market offers live, local music. Bring your coolers and chairs and enjoy the evening!
Our cabin is a one level, bright and airy, easy access bungalow featuring 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths and a full size kitchen including refrigerator, range, microwave, and dishwasher. The vaulted kitchen/dining/living area features 100 year old heart pine beams, a poplar & maple live edge bar top, wood burning fireplace and queen sofa sleeper. The spacious Master bedroom features a king size bed and private bath. The second bedroom is furnished with a queen size bed and bunk beds. The second bathroom, with full size tub/shower, is located just across the hallway. The oversize mudroom has a full size washer and dryer, laundry sink, and ample space for indoor bike storage. Outside is a convenient bike wash station, a charcoal grill and fire pit with firewood provided.
Amenities include central heat and air, Hulu-Live streaming TV, DVD player, WiFi and local landline phone.
The cabin comfortably sleeps 6.
Cell phone coverage is limited in the mountains. Verizon works best. You may be able to use your iPhone via internet.

Very clean and quiet place to get away from it all. We felt very comfortable here. The nap on the deck was amazing. The grounds were very well kept as was the cabin. We loved the wrap around deck. Clean and comfy!! We hope to be back again

Very relaxing
Property is very well maintained inside and out! It’s like being at home! My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon and this was a revisit seven years later and it had not changed. We will be back!!!

We love this place!
We’ve stayed here several times. It is consistently wonderful. The home is immaculately clean, has comfortable beds and everything you could need to make your stay enjoyable. The area is serene and quiet, yet close to both Brevard and Hendersonville. Weather permitting, one of our favorite places to spend time is on the front porch. Marcia is a pleasure to work with and is a great communicator. Her decorative touches for whatever season you are in are very welcoming. Don’t miss the Cedar Mountain Cafe just down the road for a delicious breakfast, lunch, or dinner (dinner on weekends only.)

We are owner operators and builder of this bungalow completed in 2016. The Stones Lake community is a special entity within Cedar Mountain and has been in the family for generations. We are year round residents of Cedar Mountain and are available to offer any assistance if needed.

Why they chose this property

Stone Hinge is built on property that has been a part of our family for generations. Growing up and spending most summers in Cedar Mountain brings back only wonderful memories of communing with nature, whether by hiking or exploring the woods or swimming in the coldest water anywhere and by being away from the grind and stress of everyday living. It is our hope to share that with visitors who wish to get away and relax and rewind. Stone Hinge is located away from street lights and highway noise yet offers all of the comforts of home including central heat and air, Wi-Fi and DirectTV. It is incredibly dark at night here and you will be amazed by the number of stars visible away from city lights. There is something special and refreshing about the quietness here and listening to the songs of the woods and breathing cool, clean mountain air.

What makes this property unique

Stone Hinge is a one level, easy access property. The 800 square foot covered wrap around rocking porch offers an area that can be enjoyed any time of day or night to relax and visit or for the kids to play if the afternoon brings cooling showers. Dining on the porch is also pleasant treat if you need a change. There are multiple porch ceiling fans to keep you cool and comfortable as you rock and read and enjoy your favorite beverage at the end of the day. The popular fire pit is available for evening S'mores and storytelling. Firewood is provided. On chilly nights you can enjoy a cozy fire in the woodburning fireplace.
Stone Hinge is conveniently located in Cedar Mountain, Gateway to Dupont State Forest. Close enough to bike to Dupont, our bungalow is conveniently close enough to hike, bike or swim in the morning, come back for lunch and a nap and return in the afternoon for more exploring. Quaint Brevard is only 11 miles away offering unique shopping, restaurants and grocery stores.
