Come relax, create or base your island excursions from this fully appointed two bedroom suite retreat.

Located in one of the quietest, prettiest, most convenient locations in Nanaimo; it is the home of resident host Ray Patrick.

The suite was purposed with your comfort and carefree stay foremost in its preparation. Complete with luxurious bedding, fluffy pillows, heated floor bathroom, tub/ shower, spa quality toiletries, cushy robes and slippers.


Your kitchen is fully appointed with a full size fridge, stove and all you'll need to create your favorite meals. If you don't feel like cooking then adventure out to experience some of the many fine dining restaurants which Nanaimo has to offer.

Your suite includes a spacious living area with gas fireplace, flat screen HDTV, cable with many viewing channels, Wi-Fi, area maps, brochures, games, books and puzzles.

Also a washer and dryer are in suite, for your convenience.

Enjoy relaxing on your private covered deck with ocean, mountain, and forest views, after you’ve taken in the sights and sounds of wonderful Nanaimo.

There are many beautiful parks, lakes, places to visit in Nanaimo less than 15 minutes away.

The property is not by the beach, but you’re a couple of min drive to one of the most popular parks, “Neck Point Park", which is right across the street. [Note: Photos of the beach and sunset are taken from Nick Point]

Many people enjoy hiking up to the bluff there and watching the breathtaking sunsets. You may catch sight of a pod of orca or dolphin swimming right by you as you gaze and share a bottle of your favorite beverage. It’s such a romantic, place we feel lucky to live here. "Pipers Lagoon Park" and "Linley Valley Park" are just minutes away drive. Bring the swim suits, snorkel, kayak, boat and fishing rods for your own marine discoveries.

Nanaimo has all the shopping amenities you’ll need, and lots of excursions you can take, including a trip to Mount Washington for skiing just over an hour away. With its central location, Nanaimo is a perfect base point for other trips all over the island.

Savvy Seagull is an adult oriented guest suite, though children are welcome. Ask owner about its suitability regarding the age of your children.

Unfortunately, sorry but the suite is not wheelchair accessible. There are 28 stairs to descend to get to the suite.

The hosts live up stair and have pets of their own, therefore your pets are not able to accompany you in your stay.

Savvy Seagull is a smoke free environment. Smoking is NOT permitted anywhere on the premises.

Cute 2 bedroom

Very nice suite great location. Amazing appliances and fantastic layout. Really nice touches such as coffee, butter, frozen snacks. Only issue is the noise barrier between the floor above and the suite. There must be a TV above the bedrooms and it was on very loudly very early in the mornings and every footstep was heard. So if you want to sleep past 7am good luck.

3 tee times, 2 nights at this place. Great little basement suite with cozy rooms, a clean bathroom and perfect little kitchen. Mattresses were a little firm and the stairway down to the access door was a bit sketchy but otherwise a very comfortable stay!

The pictures on vrbo need to be updated. The ones on the vrbo site looks like you get a very nice patio but it is actually the owners up stairs. The suite is down the side of the house with quite a few stairs and we arrived at night and one of the sensor lights were not working, so it was hard to see.

Great place

We were very happy with the place and the amenities provided to us in this lovely place. The only draw back are the stairs and the fact that even if it was mentionned in the ad, it should be the first line of the ad. I'm disable, I have an handicap that doesn't stop me form walking thank goodness but that surely stops me of doing a great deal of walking including steps. I had people to help me but because of this we couldn't enjoy everthing as much as we would have loved to. Also the add seems to tell you that you are at 6 miles off the beach on a little pathway.... well not totally the fact, the pathway is there but it takes you to a field that you have then to walk to the street, croiss the street and walk more to attend neck point..... The pictures tells you that you are off the beach on ocean view.... but it's may be a perception on my side. Having said all that, its an amazing place, I would recommend everyone thatt doesn't have a disibility of any sort to go and enjoy this fabulous place. Thanks a lot to our guest :-)

Ocean hikes and family visits

Vacation getaway

The unit was clean, tidy and comfortable. In a residential area that was very quiet. Everything that was needed available. Host, Ray, she was easily available and delightfully friendly. Be sure to talk about stairs.

Quick Getaway

I am in BC for work and had to stay over the weekend so I took the ferry from Horseshoe Inlet to Nanaimo. The ferry is easy and an enjoyable ride. The Savvy Seagull was a great place to stay. Very clean and the fireplace made it feel very comfortable in early Spring. Ray was very helpful and accommodating to my late check in. Thanks for everything!

The location was excellent, within walking distance to Neck Point Park. However, I was unaware of the flight of 28 stairs that was required to navigate to get to the lower level suite. My sister and I are seniors - we both needed help to get our suitcases up and down. Ray, the owner, was a delight to deal with.

Beautiful hideaway

This property was lovely. It faces the water, it’s completely private, and access to all that Nanaimo has to offer is convenient. Our hosts were friendly and unobtrusive, and we all enjoyed our stay. Our boys loved the fireplace and the opportunity to watch the sunrise from the deck.

Very clean, comfortable and quiet for. Any suggestion might be that a motion light be installed near the door. We came in after dark every night and needed to use our phone to see the key pad.

The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and cozy.The kitchen was very well equipped, as well as the bathroom. Robes and sandals were a nice touch. Too bad we stayed only 2 days, as we were visiting the family living in Nanaimo during the day. The algae on the steps were slippery, so we had to watch our step. Ray and James were nice and caring hosts.

A Christmas week in Nanaimo

Great location with view of the trees of Neck Point. lots of room in 2-bedroom suite for 2 of us. One bed very firm and 1 softer. Really enjoyed gas fireplace. Full kitchen with almost everything we needed to cook a Christmas dinner. Only negative were the 32 steps down to our rental suite entrance as it is on a steep lot. The owner and family kindly helped us get our luggage and food supplies down the steps.

Comfortable and well equipped

Accommodation very good, and would be fine for up to four. Main issue was first impressions of house front at street level. We did not realize that the rental was down many steps to the bottom level at the back. So view was more limited than expected. Steps down make it difficult for older couples like us, although we were able to leave through the back laneway so did not have to carry bags back up the steps.

There couldn't be more perfect destination than Nanaimo for holiday makers with opportunities for hiking, kayaking, swimming, skiing and exploring the mountains, shores and lakes. Nanaimo being at the heart of the Vancouver Island being centrally located.
Besides the seaside life, mild temperatures, accessible location of the island, lack of insects like flies and mosquitos; we also enjoyed the convenience of all big stores and supplies, amenities, the friendly neighbors, and wonderful restaurants.
For me Nanaimo holds fabulous opportunities for inspiration from scenic land and oceanscapes and a vast abundance of wildlife viewing opportunities, which made it an obvious choice as the place to settle.
