We had a nice stay at this property...it was clean. The bed on the main floor was not comfortable at all, but the other bed were good so we were able to sleep comfortable.
The cabin listed was as expected.the driveway was a bit tough to maneuver around and being a pool player the pool table listed was not in the best of shape but overall very nice cabin
Returning to DCL after taking a few years off our traditional trip. This home had ample space for our family of 4 with kids being teens. The driveway is tricky to manage - those coming in winter time might struggle. But loved proximity to lake and its own dock. We don't have a boat but fishing from there or swimming a plus.

A piece of heaven
This was a special treat to my sister who is raising a thirteen year old autistic grandson, and her life is crazy. This retreat did her a world of good.

Reviewer Comments:
Property was very clean, everything was as expected. There was actually one additional bedroom in the basement that wasn't counted which was nice. We really enjoyed the porch with the lake view.
The cabin was in clean and homey. The convenience items such as board games and outside equipment were extremely hospitable. The only issues was the mattresses. Multiple guests had difficulty sleeping through the night and woke up with back pain. Otherwise, it was a great experience.
It was just what we were looking for to celebrate my wife’s birthday. It was my first trip to deep creek and won’t be my last! Our cabin was comfy, cozy, and on the lake, and only a 7 or 8 min drive to the Wisp ski resort. Our host was flexible with a last second change due to a doctor appointment and really helped save the weekend for us! There’s nothing fancy about the cabin which is what we were looking for. It was clean, convenient, ample room to comfortably sleep 4-6 adults with spare couches for the the kiddos.
Overall, we were quite pleased and happy with this place. Unfortunately we have no service at DCL so we were on our way to call the property manager when the next door neighbor helped us out by letting us use her phone.
The house is exactly as described - nothing more nothing less. The dock across the street was a nice place to go fishing and watch the activity of Cherry Cove. One annoyance for us - there is an HVAC vent that blows hot air into the basement even though each bedroom has separate window AC units and there are baseboard heaters so don’t know what this vents into because the duct seems to just be in the one room. Anyways it’s the summer and there’s no way to turn it off so we were boiling the second night and sleep was not good.
Otherwise, the pool table was great to have, kitchen is well equipped and clean, bathrooms were spacious, and it was a perfect spot to relax with family.
The parking is tight so carpool as much as you can because the neighbor on the other side of the house was less than gracious about blocking us in completely from using the stairs to the rental property to pack up and having to move cars just to open trunks and load up. Seemed petty but luckily the other neighbor was still a bright spot in our memories.
We are an elderly couple who stayed in this nice home four nights. It was quiet and private during our mid-week stay, and comfortably furnished and clean. The house is on three levels, with a bedroom and bath on each level. There was more stair-climbing than ideal for an aged couple, but that would be no problem for younger persons. The hot tub on the top floor was a nice feature. The only problem we encountered was that the living room TV would not turn on when we first tried to use it. It would not repond to the remotes (3) or to manual buttons on the set. We reported this to the property manager and they promptly dispatched their TV tech to bring us a loaner for our stay. One other minor issue: the door handle to the living room door out to the deck lacked a screw to secure the handle, which came off once when we opened it.
Overall a good stay in a nice home with a pleasant view of one cove of he lake.
Immediately upon arrival, I noticed several issues with the property--some big, some small--and alerted the property owner. I was promised by the rental company that a work order was put in and that all my issues would be fixed the next day, but not a single item was ever addressed. Broken door, broken TV, leaky bathtub, the list goes on and on. I would not recommend this property to anyone due to the lack of communication and several issues we encountered while staying there that were never resolved. Look elsewhere when you're booking your Deep Creek vacation.

Reviewer Comments:
Two friends on a girls' weekend stayed here for 4 nights. Terrific deck with plenty of comfortable seating and two grills. DCL was right across the street, several evenings we brought glasses of wine and sat in chairs by the lake, watching the ducks and beautiful fall foliage. Comfortable bedrooms, there is also a basement bedroom/sitting area with a full bath. Open area kitchen/dining/living rooms, comfy furniture and nice layout. A few glitches: jets in upstairs sunken tub seemed anemic, house could have used a little more lighting. Property management was extremely responsive when an issue developed with the water. House shares a driveway with several nearby neighbors, this did not pose a problem for us as there was no one else in the other houses. Loved this property and hope to return.
Not so relaxing before All the Thanksgiving Hustle
Where to begin… It's advertised to sleep eight. On the listing with pictures it has two queen beds and two full futons . In reality there are 2 queen beds and the new futons barely fit one person on them. When my teen was sleeping on the futon it continued flipping because there wasn't any support on the side that lowered to convert it into a bed. No mattress just a hard cheap piece of furniture to look at. Therefore slept on the couch the second night. You may want to try to lay on something before expecting someone else to sleep on it. There is no possible way that a taller or heavier person could lay on it. In my opinion this place barely accommodated five for sleeping. I am just glad that this was a two night stay. If I had rented this for a week long vacation I would have left and requested a refund. Once we first arrived on the main level we noticed there was a huge draft coming in from the main floor bedroom. Once we investigate it we found that the window had been locked but the top portion was down about a half inch . We shut and locked it properly. That led me to check all the other windows which I found all the other windows on the main level were unlocked. No firewood under the deck out of the elements for us to use. It was empty. wood on the side of the house was damp. Therefore no fire was able to be started. Highly disappointed after a long day of hiking not able to enjoy it. If you are paying for cleaning service I would encourage them to dust and wipe things down especially the nightstands, mirrors and most importantly the main dining table where there is a lot of standing dust everywhere especially on the centerpieces in the middle of the table where you eat. We ate our breakfast and a lunch there so it was very noticeable, not good. Main bedroom mattress was like sleeping on a rock, the blind on the window in this room was to small . Every morning as soon as the sun came up the light blasted us in our faces . We know it's a rental property but you may want to check all the curtain rods. Every time you open and close the curtains the whole rod / brackets would move. Overall experience, disappointed will not be back to this rental and will definitely stay away from listings with this property management company. It seemed from the time I booked this place to my actual stay sleeping accommodations had changed but was not updated prior to arriving.
This was perfect. We very much enjoyed this cabin. The view of the mountains and lake was gorgeous. Only issue was the steep driveway which was a little slick with all the leaves. Thank you so much for sharing your space with us. Already planning a spring trip back.
The house was very clean and well kept. I had to call for more towels and the Property managers were very nice and hospitable. Service was quick. Downsides were the advertised pool table is very worn and almost unplayable. (I like to shoot pool, one of the reasons for our choice.) Table needs to be have new felt and rails, and to be leveled. Second downside was the steepness of the driveway. When leaving the driveway, my trailer hitch and bumper would drag the pavement and I have a high pick up truck. But we had a great time there. Enjoyed out stay.
While Deep Creek Lake is delightful, the Sm'oars rental should be avoided until the owner makes substantial improvements overall. The house was in general disrepair, with many scuffed walls, ceiling cracks, chipped drywall, and holes in the air conditioner window frame that allowed cold air in the upstairs bedroom when the wind blew. Moreover, the cleaning of the house left much to be desired, as all glass surfaces were grimy, and dirt and garbage was found under the throw rugs on the main floor. In addition, the photos of the unit on VRBO failed to reveal that the view to the lake is obstructed by several nearby telephone and electrical wires, making it quite unsightly.
