Step back in time at none other than Howick Historical Village. Explore Howick as it was in the 1800s during one of the Live Days, when the village turns into a living colonial museum.

Located in the stunning ‘burb of Bucklands Beach, Howick Golf Club is one of the best things about East Auckland. Several holes are situated on the peninsula cliff tops themselves which means spectacular views across the Hauraki Gulf.

- Guests to provide expected check-out time(latest being 10 am) and acknowledge the property will be scheduled for cleaning just after the time they have provided (late check-outs without prior agreement will incur a cleaner turn away charge or a full day rental).

- Keys must not be collected prior to agreed check-in time and lockboxes(if any) must be left closed and locked.

Property adequate, Management less than ideal

Stayhub's processes from the outset overshadowed our stay. Although the full payment + deposit were deducted from our credit card immediately, Stayhub required a series of photographs of the credit card, selfies holding cards and photos of IDs before they would release the check-in information. I don’t think our concerns about the use and security of our data were invalid, although our concerns were dismissed by Stayhub. Some demands for photographs of the credit card even came via text message. I just don’t like the idea of sending off a photo of a credit card, even partially concealed, to an unknown phone number. I appreciate Stayhub’s intention is to ensure the security of the property’s owner, but this comes at the expense of customer care. Not only do their processes feel unsafe, but they’re also not inclusive of older customers who may be less comfortable taking selfies with their smartphones. When pressed, an alternative was offered in the form of a screengrab of the deduction. The property itself was adequate for our needs. The open plan living space was good for a family, and the ability to close off the hallway to the bedrooms was also good. The location was fine. The aspects of the property that were less than ideal were mainly health and safety features: 1. The shower/bath in the family bathroom, pictured with glass shower screen, did not actually have a shower screen or curtain. This meant that it was functionally useless as a second bathroom without turning the room into a wet-room. 2. Turning the bathroom into a wet-room is problematic as we were only provided one towel per person, regardless of the length of stay, and extra towels cost an additional $20. There was no clothes dryer, which in future I would consider a necessity when travelling with a toddler. 3. The back deck/patio is pretty hazardous if you are thinking of bringing kids along. The drop-off is more severe than it appears in the listing photo, and the steps can be a bit dicey. Not great for littlies Other than that, the property is adequate. Shabby, but clean, comfortable beds and sufficient storage. The kitchen is old and the dishes are a hodgepodge of worn or chipped crockery that will remind you of your work lunchroom. The cleaning cost is comparably high, so I was surprised when our checkout instructions asked us to do our dishes before we departed. Overall, I think the property is fine but Stayhub could treat its customers better.
