About this property
Private luxury apartment in the heart of the city
When you choose this garden apartment for your home away you will be within walking distance to downtown Rochester, riverside restaurants, stores and libraries. By car, it is a 10 minute ride to the U of R, museums, parks, galleries and a lively night-life abundant with good food and spirits and free or ridiculously inexpensive live music, the quality of which will amaze you. It is a 15 minute rice to the Greater Rochester International Airport.
When you arrive you will find your apartment on the garden level of an 1870 Victorian home, with private front and rear entrances and key-less entry. Enjoy the radiant-heated ceramic floor running throughout the kitchen and bath. Beautiful quartz and granite counter tops finish the space. You will find the open design connects the kitchen and living room areas for easy conversation and socialization. The work of local artists, the soft-close cupboards and dimmer switches make it easy to create a cozy atmosphere for yourself here. The mud room with your private laundry and rear entrance leading to the parking area, can be closed off from the living area. The living space is well insulated for noise and the smart TV is equipped with Roku and Dish satellite service. The space stays cool during the summer without air conditioning due to being 3 feet below ground and the ceiling fans. When you choose this garden apartment you are ensuring yourself you will have a happy and comfortable stay.

About the host
Hosted by Margaret Merriman

As a native Rochestarian, and 30 years in this home, I know of many of the local gems and can help you get around Rochester. Whether you're in the pursuit of food, culture or nature walks, I welcome the opportunity to help make your stay satisfying. I can be as visible or invisible as you'd like. I enjoy meeting people of different backgrounds, exchanging stories and ideas.
I've traveled to several locations in Europe, New Zealand, Tasmania and Central and
South America, along with fairly extensive travel throughout the U.S.
My education and training from Syracuse University was Clinical Social Work. My career was with the University of Rochester Medical Center Dept. of Psychiatry. I'm now retired and spending time volunteering and exploring.
My life motto is "We all do better, when we all do better."
This apartment has been filled with Airbnb guests since I opened it in Jan. 2020. I have a 5.0 rating and have a Superhost designation. You can read the reviews at https://airbnb.com/h/yourprivatehome

Why they chose this property
I purchased this property because I love both history and community. This historic neighborhood, unique for the annual 2-day Corn Hill Arts and Music Festival, and the annual Tour of Historic Homes has a dynamic and active association, board of directors and numerous committees of devoted volunteers who keep this neighborhood thriving.
Profits from these memorable events fund close to 12 active committees dedicated to the prosperity, safety and community of our residents. This is a neighborhood where opportunities for connections and active involvement abound. Folks from blocks away may meet at a committee meeting or at one of the monthly social activities sponsored by the Social Committee or one of the frequent gatherings hosted by neighbors, and become best friends! Our goal is to renew the spirit of the Victorian Era, when neighbors knew each other and rested in the comfort of knowing there is support and aid during times of need and joy. We see these stories play out time and time again in Corn Hill. Please check out our website at cornhill.org
