This is a gorgeous property settled at the edge of the state park land that goes for miles. Three acres on the property with lots of fun activities for the kids. A loft with pool table that converts to ping pong and dartboard, trampoline and rope swing outside. 3 acres of space on the property to roam and can also hike up through the state park land which is bordering our property. Both bathrooms have bathtubs, upstairs has a claw foot bathtub. Hi speed Internet and Wi-Fi. By popular demand we have added a Mr Cool mini split AC unit in the upstairs loft and master bedroom areas along with the 1000 sq ft AC unit downstairs keeping the super hot days cool inside. It also heats for the Winter time. Each bedroom has its own character with none of the bedrooms stacked with beds. The master bedroom has a loveseat and a vanity. There is also a bookshelf with a variety of books to choose from. There are extra roll out beds in the hall closet and the living room couch has a hideaway bed. We loved the location and seclusion! The cabin is well appointed and maintained. There is an obvious pride of ownership by the Host. Communication with the Host was outstanding and pleasant! Will certainly come back to this cabin again!
We had a wonderful time at the Columbia cabin. It's the perfect location - only about a mile to Main St. but far enough away that you feel like you're in your own peaceful haven. The cabin was clean and comfortable. Our kids loved the treehouse and the trampoline! Communication with John was great; he was very kind and called ahead to give us helpful tips on navigation and the surrounding area. Thanks for having us!
Owner was very responsive and accommodating; very helpful and nice. Cabin was cozy and spacious. Grounds were beautiful. Lots of deer, turkeys and quails. Very close to Columbia.
We wanted to get out of town for the first and this was just right. Nice property and the quiet we were seeking. The owner was very clear about everything and we had no issues or problems at all. We gladly recommend staying here and I’m sure we will again!
We rented this house to show my niece and nephews the history of Gold Country. The location was great for this purpose. The house was stocked with everything we needed. The kids loved the trampoline and the ping pong table. We also love to cook and it was a great kitchen our culinary needs. I would recommend staying here.
My family (mom, bother, sister in law and 10yr old nephew) all met in Gold Country this year for thanksgiving. We had a great time and this house worked really well for us. It was big enough to hang out and had a big piece of land all around (it's right next to state park). It was comfortable and the wood burning stove (the main source of heat)n made everything cozy. It was fun to see the wild turkeys in the morning! The kitchen was pretty well equipped and we brought the necessities for making a Thanksgiving meal. John was super communicative, responsive and helpful, from directions to the house, how to use the TV and other house things. He also gave suggestions for seeing the towns nearby. I loved exploring Columbia, Sonora and Murphy's. I'd love to go back to this house again when we're in that area.
Me, my husband, and nephew took a trip to this beautiful cabin. Let me just say this place was so wonderful. It was quiet, relaxing, just really nice. We can not wait to visit again. Also being so close to Columbia State Park was so cool, it brought me back to when I would visit with dad as a young child.
We stayed at this lovely home while in town to see family. It was perfect for our stay and the host was extremely friendly and helpful. We were all adults, but I could see kids having a great time here. Thanks for a great stay!
This cabin is super cool, spacious, resourced (pool table, ping pong), and provided a wonderful atmosphere for our friend reunion. The owner was super helpful and communicative. Would return next time I'm looking for a gold country getaway.
An amazing peaceful and quiet property in the middle of nature! This property served as a great "home base" for our family of 4, plus 2 dogs, to explore Gold Country over the 4th of July week. The house kept us cool and comfortable even during triple digit heat. John is an amazing host and is truly invested in making sure you enjoy your stay! As other reviews have mentioned, there are a lot of burs this time of the year, and we brought a "fur rake" with us that was a lifesaver for us and our dogs.
Very cool house, great property, even has a resident cat! Dogs are allowed but with restrictions, make sure to ask in advance as we didn't know until the day before. Otherwise a nice stay in a fun area.
Great property, very peaceful… had a pool table, ping pong, and a dart board we all played, our sons first games of pool👍 very cool “old school” town, felt like it brought you back the the 1800s
John's home and property are a slice right out of paradise. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing. This was our 3rd stay at this wonderful home. We absolutely love the property and the privacy. Nothing is more amazing than having coffee on the deck, listening to the birds and watching nature in action. It truly rejuvenates your soul!
Thank you John for being such a phenomenal host and opening your home to us again! We look forward to our next stay.
This is a wonderful property in a great spot. A very peaceful and well-equipped retreat. Easy to Sonora and Columbia (obviously). But also a good base for trip to Calaveras Big Trees. Yosemite Valley is a little further (2 hours) but still worked nicely as a day trip (with early departure to ensure a parking spot!).
This house is perfect for kids! My grandchildren had a blast on the zip line, trampoline, rope swing and tree house. The outdoor fire pit was also a big hit. They also enjoyed the ping-pong and pool table. The large kitchen was well stocked and wi-fi was excellent. Great location, too. Just a mile from the wonderful Columbia State Historic Park. I highly recommend this property!
My family rented this cabin for the weekend and we had a great time. The owner made check-in very easy and the home was exactly as described. We visited Jamestown and Columbia, but coming back to the cabin made for a relaxing retreat. It was quiet, making for great sleeping. Furnished with 3 bedrooms, fully stocked kitchen, pool and ping-pong tables. A fantastic weekend
Hello,
We stayed at John cabin for three nights. The cabin is fully equipped and had everything and more of what ever people of all ages need to have a great time.
We enjoyed the pool table, dart board, trampoline and the swing was fantastic.
The house itself was very comfortable and the king and queen mattress's were of high quality and very comfortable.
Wow - end of a nice, quiet road, backing up to a park for beautiful walks through the roaming hillsides...we should definitely have stayed longer. I think next time we might take a week to let it really sink in! I could get lost in that park for a day, easily.
My grandkids, aged 8 to 21 loved the trampoline. The 2 acre rolling hills property is serene and unlike any other VRBO property I have experienced. Kitchen open to livjng area makes visiting easy. Open concept log home was modern and quaint at the same time. Location is close to Columbia State Park; a must visit spot for local gold rush era history
This was my second time renting this gorgeous home! My first stay was with my 2 sisters. This stay was with my sisters as well as a few friends. We just enjoyed the peace and quiet and tranquil atmosphere. This home is so beautiful and private. We enjoyed the outdoors, and walking around the gorgeous property. Not to mention the pool table and ping pong table!!! I do plan on returning for another relaxing retreat in the near future! Thank you John for everything!
