About this property

Mom's Favorite Waterfront Cabin #4, Onalaska, Lake Livingston, Texas

Cabin #4 is our Mom’s favorite cabin. It seems made just for that romantic couple, or just one, getting away for rest and relaxation, is super nice, right in front of the water, has old ship lap exterior siding, knotty pine interior, full kitchen with hickory cabinets/white marble counter, tile shower bathroom, queen log bed, large covered porch right at waterfront which opens to full 23 mile long Lake Livingston.

There are 3 piers, 4 boat slips, boat launch, 2 fish cleaning stations, and various small craft row boat, kayaks, canoes for rent.

Yes we are pet friendly (for good well trained dogs only), with addtl $50 fee per stay, and we do flea treat between pet stays!

We also offer;
> small craft rentals at $35/day per kayak, canoe, &or row boat.
> Jon boat w/trolling motor, 2 batteries, paddle and life vests at $50 for 4 hours, $10 (for each additional hour), or all day $75.
> pontoon boat rental when available w/ captain for touring, fishing trip, and or family fun $45/adult guest but must combine w/ enough guests for $175 minimum per trip. (Max 4 fishing at same time, others can switch off), approx 3 to 4 hours, or up to 6 people for 2 hour tour).

The entire property has 5 cabins. This cabin is the coziest at 350sqft but is open studio type layout making it still spacious for a couple on vacation. Please see the pictures at the bottom of the picture list to see the rest of our cabins which are bigger 500 sqft, 4 person, 5 person, and yet the largest is 800 sqft 2-story cabin for up to 7 people.

In addition we have 8 RV sites, boat & boat slips, and FM 356 near.

Other cabins and their availability are at;

cabin 3, 2bdrm, sleeps 4, at Vrbo: 1323933

cabin 6, 2bdrm, sleeps 5, at Vrbo: 1340797

Cabin 5, 2bdrm + loft, sleeps 7

cabin 1, 2bdrm, sleeps 4, at Vrbo: 9464533

Cabin has double wood siding interior & exterior that keeps it quiet inside, good people & rules make it great or we help enforce quiet time rules. FM 356 traffic is normally quiet at night but can have some traffic noise during day.

Also not in cabins and or not normally any nuisance to people, but guests should be aware that we are on a natural lake and there can be in wetlands area across the street or in brush, snakes, spiders, snapper turtles, alligator across the bridge, hawks, eagles, raccoons, etc. No real danger but occasionally for a couple days usually in spring or early summer, mom alligator will come and drop baby alligator hear every couple years then leaves, baby tends to be about 3’ to 3.5’ when this happens, is too small to be issue, can only eat size of bullfrogs at this time, is kind of fun but then normally leaves as well within a few weeks cuz too much activity from us. Parks & Wildlife and licensed trappers both said to leave them alone when this small, just do what we do keep swimming and boating because most the little one can do is eat bullfrog and will leave to find different home if we keep up our activities. And for 8 years we’ve seen they are correct.

Very nice property in an excellent location for a relaxing get away. Not the best for fishing from the shore because water is too shallow. Recommend taking a boat out, which is available. Rate cabin high for cleanliness. and being well stocked. The host were easy to contact and friendly. Highly recommend this place.

Thanks for your review! The best fishing off the docks is Dec thru mid-May, or early AM, dusk, or at our bridge in the summer. Thanks for coming and for using your truck to help us move the deck!

Our third year coming here for our anniversary . We absolutely love it. Everything I forgot from home was already stocked in the cabin !! Rick and Bernadette are so very welcoming. Rick helped improve our fishing experience with some tips and tricks. Beautiful environment and atmosphere. Super cozy for a couple. AC was new and top notch. New floors. Every one (other guests) is respectful. Can’t wait for next years trip ! Thank you Rick and Bernadette

A.c worked great. the only thing we wished was different was the view. we didn’t realize it was so close to the highway and the view of the lake wasn’t that great. The property owner was nice and replied back fast.

Thanks Alan, I actually had just sprayed cabins, docks and boats day prior and was letting them die before cleaning the webs. They are quite common on lake and next to wetlands but this spray tends to work for 3 months. Sorry it wasn't fully complete before your stay.

About the host

Hosted by rick guldin

Host profile image
Hi, we are just a mom and pop business trying to make a go of it, love the outdoors, always wanted a place like this, and enjoy sharing it. We both traveled the world with Rich's work and now he is retired several years, started building this before he retired and it seems we are forever still working on things here or there, hoping to make it better and better!

Why they chose this property

Great question but hard to answer. We actually first bought a waterfront lot on the other side of lake, north on the river, just for a retirement home. We had looked at this place at the same time and rejected it, never even went in because the house was awful on outside. But a year later decided it's too hard to build on that lot from houston and overseas without having a place to stage things and so used that as excuse to look some more. So a year later a different relator brought us here too by chance but this time we went inside too and fell in love from the inside, not the outside. So spent considerable time trying to figure what we could change on outside and what else to do with the few acres and now here we are over a decade later!

What makes this property unique

It's a quaint little place with 5 cabins and our home all facing the water, rv spots, wetlands across the street, and a town 2 miles away. What more could anyone want? God blessed us and we are very appreciative of that.
