Adorable warm log cabin on a private section ideal for a couple or small family

You will be able to relax on the several decks, enjoying the beautiful view of Mt Lyford and the Seaward Kaikouras in total privacy and seclusion.
The Beeches is an adorable little cabin, ideal fora romantic break for two. It has a log burner, stove/oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, TV, a bedroom with comfortable double bed with duvets and pillows and 2 single beds on the mezzanine, and just about everything you’d need for your stay. Please note: no pets.
There is an underground ‘cellar’ in the garden; a cool little hide out for some kids play.
There is plenty to do at Mt Lyford in both summer and winter; the ski field is 10kms from this log chalet and has excellent facilities for families, there is also ice skating, tennis, walking, swimming holes, the hot pools at Hanmer, several golf courses within easy reach, and Mt Lyford Lodge offers an ambient bar and restaurant meals. Note that bedlinens are not standard included but can be arranged on request. No wifi or cell phone coverage.

A lovely 3 night stay in the forest with all the noises you'd expect from the forest surroundings. an abundance of bird calls when sitting outside so relaxing.Alpine lodge exactly as described with comfortable beds well equipped kitchen. Excellent log burner kept the whole house cosy, even though we had lovely mild weather for our stay.Very clean and welcoming stay, highly recommend.
Absolutely beautiful cabin hidden amongst trees. Had everything we needed just brought food and some linen. Will definitely be booking another weekend asap.
Our stay at the Beeches was absolutely wonderful. Everything we needed was there, there was a lovely fireplace which kept the house toasty on the entirety of our stay, completely covered the upstairs bedrooms with warmth as well. Lovely balcony’s on both sides of the house where you can enjoy a coffee and a book. There was a very kind neighbour who helped us with some car issues we were having. If you walk up the hill there is a stunning view of the mountains. Highly recommend and i will be staying here again!

I'm sorry you couldn't get the fire going. You should have come to the office and we would have assisted you. It is a big fire and will heat the house up easily in an hour if you do it right.
The log cabin we stayed in was very comfortable. The garden and views to the mountains were stunning. We had a very nice relaxing time.
We had two things we did not like about the property. The black coating from the frypan with the handle, came off when we used it to cook with and ruined our meal. The fireplace puffed out a lot of smoke into the house whenever we opened the door to add more wood.
Very disappointed in this place and our experience. A day before we were to arrive we got an email stating linens were not included in our nightly rental. After researching our booked listing this was not mentioned although the owners stuck to their story and said it was an extra cost per person bringing the nightly total to a point we would have chosen to stay somewhere else. We were told it's not a kiwi tradition to put sheets on the bed for customers but I would also like to mention this line is getting old. Long story short after booking month in advance and at the point of no refund to stay anywhere else we got an email saying we needed to bring our own towels and sheets or pay extra. Very disappointed in this kiwi cash grab 😡

This listing on HomeAway/Bookabach clearly states that linen is not standard included. NZ travellers prefer to have the choice to cheaper accommodation and bring their own linen. You have made assumptions that it was included. It does pay to carefully check the listing. We do offer hire linen but due to our remote location we cannot do this at prices you would expect in cities; believe me this is the real cost for us. We have been correct in the way we have listed this property and prefer not to be negatively reviewed because of NO fault of our own.
House was a bit old and showing signs it that, otherwise lovely place to stay.

Not impressed.
No communication from propertymanager after I'd messaged them 3pm the day of checking in. I had a simple question. We got to the property at about 7pm. Couldn't initially find the office to get the key.
The wood fire was hopeless. Had it going for 3 hrs and the house was still not warm. Had to sit with jackets The house isn't big.
It wasn't clear on the website, when I booked, that linen and towels werent included. I'm not saying it wasn't on there, but it wasn't obvious.

It is important to READ the information on the house before booking and also the MESSAGE send to you at the time of booking with all the instructions regarding key and location. This is the communication channel provided through VRBO/Bookabach and this is the channel that will be used. Unfortunately I was at a funeral that day. But all was taken care of in regard to your booking. The key was there, the house was ready. There are even instructions in the information book in the house on how to light a log fire.
We were looking for a quiet place to unwind and read and relax. this cabin was spot on, super warm and cosy. Log cabin is great and you almost feel like a pioneer, with the mod cons lol
This log cabin and settings was a wonderful getaway..so cosy and peaceful . We would definitely recommend.. the only thing I'd say is the main bed matress and one other of the single bed wasn't super comfortable and quite creaky being older iron frames so maybe could do with a mattress upgrade or and an oil ! The stay was worth it though
It's was a really nice stay, and the property manager is so friendly and helpful. A pity we left early to explore other places and could not get back early for our second night.
Cosy and cute log cabin with everything you need for a weekend away. Fresh snow fell while we were there and we thoroughly enjoyed walking in the surrounding area with fresh snow on the ground and on the trees.
Wood burner kept the whole place cosy.
It was one of a kind experience. Can't wait to come back ! Nice house with all amenities.

Great Place to stay
We really enjoyed our couple of days stay at The Beeches.
The fireplace kept the whole house cosy and warm, and there was a plentiful supply of firewood.
A small maintenance issue was fixed quickly when bought to the attention of the agents.
Our bed was really comfortable, I had a great sleep.
Highly recommended for a relaxing weekend away.
