About this property

The cottage is perfect for your PEI beach vacation, made for families, sleeps 6.

Welcome to Blue Tin Cottage~by the sea, where a dream vacation awaits you at Chelton beach in Beautiful PEI. Located on the south shore, home to Canada’s warmest saltwater beaches.
This cottage was built in the spring of 2019. Although we are not waterfront, it has fantastic water views and is an approx 2 minute walk down to the beautiful quiet beach.
The cottage accommodates 6 guests with two queen rooms & the third room containing 2 twins/single beds.
Chelton provincial park is a short walk along the beach and there is a public kids park for children to play. Along the beach in the other direction you’ll feel like it’s your own private beach with miles to explore at low tide.
Or relax on the oversized deck and enjoy the peace and serenity.
We are licensed with PEI tourism and the cottage is inspected yearly.

Beautiful, Clean, Modern Beach Cottage Stay
This was the perfect accommodation for our family. We have two little kids (3 and 7 months) and we were perfectly happy and comfortable. The reviews all said it was very clean and they were right, more than right! The place was absolutely spotless which, left us feeling very comfortable and happy. The location is fantastic - the provincial park was close by as that beach was more conducive to visiting during the higher tides (check your tide tables). But the resident beach was very close and easy to get to from the cottage. The layout of the cottage with the 3 bedrooms gave us plenty of space. The kitchen and large dining table were also great. Nice that they had a high hair and kid dishes! The kitchen was well equipped and it made cooking meals easy. All we needed was nicer weather (can’t control that ! 😉) and we could have enjoyed the deck a little bit more - love that water view. The hosts community clearly and promptly. If we are ever in PEI again, we would stay at the Blue Tin Cottage again in a heart beat. We’ll miss it !

Nice
Great size, very clean, beautifully decorated. Location good. Loved the layout and safety for my young family. Owners are extremely responsive and polite. Only a few issues: no drinkable water from the tap (only can use for washing things). A good amount of bottled water was kindly provided by the owners, but we ran out, and had to buy more--- a lot more. We have two young babies, who constantly need a source of clean, drinkable water (for bathing, feeding, etc.), so this was a stressful situation for us, and likely would have deterred us from staying here. Wish it was mentioned upfront. This likely won't present as an issue for older guests and those without very young babies. Another issue for us, was the walk leading up to the nearby Chelton beach, and somewhat the beach itself, was very buggy, full of mosquitoes that attacked us and our babies. We went out during the day and tried to avoid dawn/dusk, but still got tons of bites. We had previously stayed at the Hamptons, and this wasn't an issue. Not sure if it's always like this, but speaking to a neighbour, it is. It made our walks around the area unpleasant, trying to swat them away from biting us. But again, maybe for outdoorsy type of people (we're city folk), this isn't an issue. Also, when I'm on vacation, I don't constantly check my e-mail. So I missed reminders sent to us to bring out garbage for garbage day or that the owners were going to come by and mow the lawn. So it was a big surprise to us, when we spotted the owner mowing our lawn and had to make a mad scramble to close the curtains for privacy. My husband also made a failed rushed attempt to bring out the garbage, but it was too late (sincere apologies for this). This was largely our fault for not being more on top of our e-mails, but on the other hand, it's a vacation, and we were trying to relax and stay away from our phones. And to be real, we were just too busy chasing after screaming babies. Probably not an issue for others who have time to be more on top of their e-mails. Other than these things, very nice cottage, very nice owners, made great memories at PEI that I will remember for a lifetime.

Beautiful and peaceful cabin by the sea
We loved our stay at The Blue Cottage we were a family of 4 two adults and two teens we had lots of room and the two full bathrooms was a bonus! The cabin was impeccably clean and had all the amenities we could possibly need. The ocean views and breezes are divine! We hope to be able to return someday to enjoy this very special cottage in PEI.

Ten out of “Tin”
We arrived to a spotless cottage that had all the things we needed. We had an 11 month old, six year old and 4 adults. We were all very comfortable and the cottage had everything we needed. Easy to follow instructions and the laundry made having kids on vacation even easier. Movies for the rainy day and kids toys that kept ours entertained when needed. Very short walk to the beach which we enjoyed almost every day. We found the location to be convenient. Would recommend for families.

We are happy full time residents of Prince Edward Island and so perhaps are a little biased about how fantastic our beautiful Island is. I guess we might describe ourselves as tree hugging Islanders and definitely moved here for the beaches and friendly way of life.
