Hi thank you for letting me know about the water temperature, I prefer hot showers too! I will check the setting, as far as I can recall we've never changed it but because we leave the basement open maybe someone tinkered with it. We don't use the cabin personally so I'm so appreciative when things like this are brought to our attention. Thanks again!

This was an unfortunate situation and we realized afterwards that our cabin was not a good match for this guest. We can appreciate her frustration with our need to change her stay from 31 days to 28 days. We are a licensed short-term rental and anything over 28 days risks being considered long term. We will be more aware of self-booked dates going forward. We didn't mean to make her feel like a criminal. We had to ask for additional fees per the agreement and were blindsided when she told us she changed her address to the cabin address. We honestly tried to handle it as tenderly as possible. It was through email and here on VRBO for documentation. The guest booked at our discounted rate for singles/couples. She did not include pets in her reservation (but brought two dogs) and also indicated after she arrived that she planned to have overnight guests. We were apologetic for even needing to discuss the added fees for pets and extra guests but gave her the benefit of doubt that it was an oversight. It's always uncomfortable for us to ask a guest to pay more after they check in, we'd prefer this be decided prior to arrival. She asked us to install a mailbox for her because she had changed her address to the cabin address. We were not asked prior if using our address was permissible (it is not) and is why we do not have a mailbox set up. If discussed in advance, we would have suggested using the General Delivery service provided by the post office. She was upset that we did not include that there wasn't a mailbox in our write up. We were never made aware of any plowing issues. The same service that snow plows our private residence also plows for our cabin. We don't have any issues with our personal service and again, were not made aware of any issues by this guest during her stay. Our service would have remedied any issue. I talked with him about this review and he said had he known he would have offered to sand for her. Honestly, I would not describe our driveway as "steep", it is a long slow ascending road as is typical of most lake properties in the area. We do feel bad that this guest did not enjoy her stay. We strive to make everyone feel at home and provide the best accommodations possible. We are always available to discuss needs prior to booking our property to ensure all needs can be met.
