About this property
Escape2Fish - Purpose built fishing base for Boats, Crews & Early Starts
*The Fishing Access*

Distance to fishing:
Rodds Harbour boat ramp: 5 minutes
Inshore reef systems: 20–40 min by boat
Great Barrier Reef: ~90 min by boat
Bustard Head, Pancake Creek, Rock Cod Shoals: All within range
Target species: Red Emperor, Coral Trout, Sweetlip, Snapper, Amberjack, Rock Cod, Crayfish, Mud Crabs, Barramundi (seasonal)
---

What Makes This Different
Unlike most coastal fishing spots, Rodds Harbour has no coastal bar to cross. That means 24/7 deepwater access regardless of swell or tide. You're not locked to launch windows.
The property is set up for utility, not luxury. The deck has beer stains. The fridge is for bait. The freezer is for your catch. If you need Instagram-worthy decor, this isn't your spot. If you need function, space, and fishing access — you're home.
Honest Disclaimers
This is a fishing base, not a boutique stay
The property prioritizes space and function over aesthetics
Pets welcome (dogs only, limit 2 total) — NO PETS INSIDE, welcome on 80m² communal deck
Turkey Beach is rural — nearest major groceries in Miriam Vale (43 min) or Gladstone (51 min)
Turkey Beach One Stop Shop stocks fuel, bait, drinks, bread, limited groceries, fishing tackle
No lift access (house is elevated Queenslander style, accessed via stairs)

I've spent many holidays changing, improving, upgrading, expanding and making it more enjoyable to visit and relax here.
Over time I've listened to feedback about other ways to make it even more enjoyable for family & guests — to the point now where guests can arrive with eskies of cold food, boxes & bags of other food and their luggage, walk in, choose a bed, and come back out to any of the decks/verandas and take in the view with a nice cold drink to enjoy as they wind down.

Why they chose this property
FISHING:
Rodds Harbour is quite unique as it has no coastal bar to navigate to open water. Unlike 1770 and other local fishing bases, it has 24/7 deepwater access to creeks, mangroves, Bustard Head near Pancake Creek, Rock Cod Shoals, and the Great Barrier Reef.
And being set well back with good turning areas out back, you can return and unload the fish and your eskies at the end of the day — but not have to dismantle electronics and rods and tackle boxes etc. — they can stay in the boat ready to go again tomorrow without re-rigging!
There is a 700L chest freezer as well as upright freezer/s to store all your catch &/or bait for taking it home in ideal conditions!

What makes this property unique
Large airy deck and verandahs welcome you home every day and give you clean fresh sea air to recharge your batteries as you survey the area where the bush meets the beach and you can enjoy the best of both.
Stylish renovated Queenslander takes you back to when you visited the Grandparents etc. in the old house — with high ceilings, light and bright airy spaces, room to chill and rugged enough if you spill — a return to a slower pace with little mod cons to enhance your experience, but pared back so you spend time in, with and part of nature in peace and contentment.
